Try using a couple washers as shims and that will provide you the additional clearance between the step and the bumper.
Agreed. It really should be standard equipment on any 22 Tundra.
Yep!
Crazy how much this truck cost and Toyota can't include a step mod....
Thanks Jon, been waiting for these to come available. Dealership wanted $549 plus $150 to install. Paid $399, got it yesterday afternoon and installed myself. No issues…
Nice work!
Need a video to show how to get that metal bracket out of the way. The bumper is in the way of using a socket on the top part and I don’t know how to pop out the plastic piece holding the bottom in place.
there should be a way to purchace the electronic step, it looks better and doesn't hit the bumper.
I have that got it installed at my local dealership for $40 for the install and I got that same day of delivery on my 22 tundra trd pro on Aug 1 ….also I found a dealership in Rhode Island that had 3 in stock and paid $345 shipped to my house so I paid $385 total that’s with install …these were on back order and I was number 35 on list so I did my own research at the time and found a RI dealer had 3 in stock step with bracket full kit
Have you had any clearance issues with the step and the exhaust? Several people have reported that it hits the TRD ehaust.when opening and closing.
@@paulf9653 nope…zero issues with the bed step hitting the trd exhaust tips .,,never heard about this one….but I had my local dealership install it… but maybe them guys tried ito install it and maybe put it on the wrong holes 🤷🏻♂️
The other night fishing an inlet I talked to a new tundra owner who is we also fishing and I noticed the step had sand on it and it was touching the bumper paint. Looks like it would collect sand or mud easily.
I have the same one. I found an easier way of bringing it out for use is to push from of the back of the step outwards
That would make sense
Great video!! What tires are those?? They look amazing and am actually tire shopping now
Nitto Ridge Grapplers 🤩
It's a must have accessory. Dealer charge's $600 for that here in Canada. FFS
Thanks for the video. I just had my Toyota dealer install bed step on my ‘22 Platinum Tundra. I looked at the installation of mine and it looks correctly bolted up to the rear bumper tubing/frame. The problem is that mine is touching the bottom edge of drivers side rear bumper when it is in the retracted position. Any one else have this issue? Mine appears to be OEM parts from what I can tell (Amp-Research now has their version available but of course it is not in stock). Anyway, I am not thrilled that this is touching rear bumper because I am sure there will be some vibration while driving and cause some issues with the plastic bumper material and paint. How much clearance does the top of your bed step have when it is retracted? Appreciate any comments/replies.
I have a 22 - 1794 edition and bought the step from Toyota installed it and YES it touches the bumper. pretty frustrating for the price. however the electric step doesn't touch the bumper and doesn't look angled like the manual one.
I would totally buy this but it is absolutely overpriced for a step🤦♂️
i need to get one of these for my tundra, now that I have it i'm trying to compile a list of mods i want
Definetly a must have!
Definetly a must have!
I put one on the Tacoma and that's a must have too
That it is!
That it is!
Hopefully they make it more intuitive and practical for 2023, give us the step or cutout bumper. And the hand placement scoop.
They didn’t
What about a handle like the titan?
Want one for right side
Will it work
Got admit it’s pretty irritating to have to pay $400 for something they should have standard! I am so far refusing to do it but as I use this truck on the job site, and have it loaded many times with the gate down, hopping up in that bed at 66 years old is pretty hard to do. I might have to break down and spend the money.
I have the 2923 tundra and don't have it where is a good place to buy one
Link in description
Decided not to do the power version?
Power is only available from Platinum up except trd pro
@@ricgotsli surely it can be purchased separately and added, as the channel owner did.
I'm so glad I got power steps on my 1794, I have back problems and was always jumping into my Tacoma and don't think I could live without it anymore.
Can it be mounted on the passenger side?
No
Jon…u put your foot on the side there is a side edge where u put your foot to bring it down …not from directly from the back cause there is no space for it…
I barely see space to do it from the side either. It’s just as bad from the sure
@@TRDJon ya it sucks either way but I find it better and also they put those ridges on that side prb for that reason to put your foot and bring it down…cause if U look at it the bumper on that side curves in more for your foot …now directly behind there ain’t no space for your foot 🤷🏻♂️
Is it only left side step?
Yea, but higher trims except trd pro have electronic deploying left step
Plus just take it to dealer to put on
Probably charge you $200 for install. Honestly wasn't that hard. Some will need to take it in which is no worries.
Mine is terrible but im much heavier then you at 275. Ebay version
Ah dang man. Maybe it’s cheap materials?
My pruius’ trunk is bigger than that bed!!
Whatever makes ya sleep at night. Lol
GM Trucks have the tailgate & step figured out.
Yep
Now you have to weigh the differences. Dependability, gas mileage, resale value. VS, General Motors Nice step?
$70 on ebay
The Step-Side bed was invented about 60 years ago. Why can't they just build a damn stepside bed?
With those older ones you lose out on bed space
Toyota again with the stupidest bumper design forcing you to buy an extra accessory to use the truck bed
For 400 dollars idk😂😂😂
They're ruining the Tundra. Make them stop!
Toyota is so cheap
I really wish this was standard while also not bumping MSRP
