He was told that those blacks that took the very difficult exams failed virtually every time. His solution was to instruct the Authorities to have easier Exams for Blacks. Assuming what I read was accurate, this is another example of ' progressiveness' .
If that is fact then I am utterly horrified as I am a mother of a BA captain. I know how hard he worked to become a commended captain. How much we invested in order for him to achieve his dream job . Numbers, calculations quick calm thinking and decision taking in time of need is paramount as you are responsible for human lives . Someone’s parents, children etc … no room for box ticking here !!!

Sean Doyle, British Airways’ chairman and CEO, said: "Our aim is to attract the very best talent out there for our future generation of pilots." - Clearly it isn't !
They're already attracting the very best. But because they are almost all white men, naturally he cannot admit that. I've said it before and I'll say it again, diversity, equity and inclusion is the most stupid idea to have ever gained widespread acceptance. Why? Because in order to make it work, selection on the basis of pure ability has to be thrown out. Heather MacDonalds new book "When Race Trumps Merit" lays out the truly horrifying extent to which this is happening in the States, but everything in the book applies just as much to us here in Britain.
By not watching TV or reading newspapers and magazines, I very rarely get that image thrust down my throat, and it is so nice not to be wound up constantly.
They've been doing it in the States for at least a couple of years. And it doesn't stop with flight school, either. They're going to be passed right through the usual channels where a pilot builds experience, and put directly in the most visible spots, flying passengers-- you just watch.
That web site is a catalogue of hilarious but very worrying errors. Apart from the mathematical ignorance on display the main image is of an aircraft flying at altitude with its front undercarriage alone extended (which would only happen if there was a serious problem!). Obviously the people orchestrating this know nothing about either maths or aviation. I definitely won't be flying on any of their planes in the future.
Well our mad king Charles the richest land owner in the world said that slavery deeply affected him , he said we (yes the royal we ) as though the native population had something to do with are very sorry. Charles thought the public was going to pay for it , he's not mentioned it since
I worked as a flight pilot, instructor and examiner for 25 years…I’ve seen first hand how diversion has impacted the industry, women taking priority over men and I now the introduction of minorities. I can 100% clarify that standards have dropped hugely. I’ve failed students who were well below standards who then went elsewhere to get an easy pass and who are now flying commercial aircraft, quite worrying as some of these failed students literally had no spatial awareness at all 💀
That's bad enough on the road ('terra firma'), but when it comes to air travel, it is frightening, as there are no "lay-bys" in the sky! One cannot just pull the plane over and take a moment!!!
Being a commercial pilot is basically just being a glorified bus driver. The reason they get an easy pass elsewhere is because generally it's easy. However, standards are a different thing. I'm sure there's a way you can do the job well, and that some are better than others.
So British airways are expecting us to approve of a policy that only 4% of the UK population (in total ) are being considered for this diverse pilot training. Of course many of that 4% would be ineligible due to age, illness, incarceration or other disabilities. That is a very small number of people from which to choose those pilots we will all have to put our lives in the hands of every time we decide to fly. Good luck with that one BA !!
I'm a pilot myself and lots of people are talking about this. We just had a few close shaves because of diversity hires, and last year a cargo plane went down because a throughly unqualified black man was the co-pilot, and managed to kill the whole crew while the Captain was taking a piss. He was passed through every point of the training pipeline because of his skin color, even though at least one of his instructors had said he wasn't qualified. In fact, he said the guy had a tendency to just start hitting buttons randomly when he got confused, which, as you can imagine, isn't a good idea.
Remember, they said people of a certain ethnicity would be allowed to go to top universities even if they didn't do well at schools (because lets be honest, they didn't do the work) and then give then firsts at university even if they don't have the grades. Now imagine some of these people become pilots! How safe do you think it would be? And thanks, BA, for thinking of the working class. /s
Not when something goes wrong and it is going to take a cool calm collected intelligent mind to get the plane down safely. It will only be a matter of time.
I was reading a thread on Twitter by a Boeing engineer who had recently quit. He said (diversity hires ) incompetence is rewarded with promotion and anybody who raises concerns is shown the door!
Discrimination under any circumstances, other than capability, is completely unacceptable. The only reason this carries on is because we say/do nothing about it. This country really needs to sort its siht out. This isn't going to get better on its own and if you think things are bad now, wait until we're the minority.

The first one to pass out should take the rest of the class on an inaugural flight , on a voluntary basis as the passengers . With automatic pilot and AI coming on line who needs humans . Eliminates so called pilot error
I saw Air Zimbabwe going through this process in the 1980s and saw a junior pilot quite happy to bring a Viscount into Harare Main with no wheels down. Obviously the experienced Rhodesian captain pointed out the error of his ways. I also was in the control tower in Bulawayo airport when a native Zimbabwean captain came in trying to get off with the also native Zimbabwean and very competent air traffic controller. She tore him to shreds for ignoring her landing instructions and after he left with his tail between his legs, she went on to criticise the calibre of candidates they were getting and that in her job she was used to dealing with gentlemen. I have to say that I experienced the same thing in the power industry there where we had some local very competent engineers, but our advice on promotion was not heeded in favour of useless political appointees.
Quote from the website 'One of the biggest problems facing the aviation industry is a lack of diversity.' Why is it a problem? Surely the bigger problem is lack of passengers and poor service? Are we then to believe that adding diversity will improve things? Of course, providing these funded courses for our ex-forces personnel wouldn't work would it?
I fly BA regularly and the only thing I am interested in is that my pilot(s) are well trained and have the relevant experience. If BA start employing pilots based on box ticking I will start flying with a different airline.
A few years ago I worked for a company who ran a competition with a car as the prize. They had to pay a significant fee to get a picture of the car from the manufacturer to use in the promotional leaflets - no other depiction of the car was allowed to be used. The photo that was supplied had a white man driving the car. My company felt the need to get the image of the driver erased from the photograph and replaced with a black woman driver. The nonsense never ends.
This is already happening - and has been for ten years. I had to fly with f/os who should not have been in charge of a bicycle. These incompetent f/os are now becoming captains. That is why I will no longer fly with some airlines. Looks like I will stop flying BA too. R
I recall a photo of the Huffington Post Editorial board. Under the picture was the caption" our diverse Editorial board! " It was a picture of 10 White women.
It is beyond me why 'diversity' is seen as a positive thing. I have watched the huge impact it has had on my country and on my home town, and none of it good. We were doing perfectly well before 'diversity' came and enriched us so.

Another reason to avoid BA if you needed it. Perhaps BA is hoping that an increasingly automated cockpit will sideline all those uncomfortable questions about race and intelligence. When you factor in that the software industry will also be hiring on the basis of diversity the picture looks starts increasingly concerning from a passenger safety perspective.
Software doesn’t hire on the basis of diversity - there are several competency gates to get through at most companies and these generally eliminate attempts to artificially game the system. For example, 340 applications, 62 successful first round test candidates, 24 successful second round interviewees, 9 successful third/fouth round hires. Outstanding vacancies: 30 Candidates come in from all over the world. 😳 As far as aviation automation, the only diversity that matters is intellectual diversity of ideas and experiences. As a Nigerian I worked with Chinese, English and Indian engineers on Boeing software. Diversity hiring especially when it comes to pilots is not the best idea, the vast responsibility in both the massive expense of planes and more importantly human lives means you really should be employing the absolute best there is.
Particularly when human pilots are near to the edge of safety as it is. The airbus that went down in the pacific had a fly by wire control system. The working theory us that the crew were not adequately trained on the flight control system and did not know it combined the control inputs instead of one input overriding the other. The Comander pulled back on his stick while the co-pilot pushed forward on his stick, the flight control system summed the two inputs, cancelling each other out so the aircraft was effectively not under human control and crashed.

He had absolutely no skills for that job, He tried for several minutes to put a ribbon around the box unsuccessfully , I felt sorry for him, I said he doesn't have to do it, a simple paper gift would do, then he wrapped the box in a paper too small for the box and he glued to it maybe 10 wide, huge transparent tapes ... they seamed translucent because of his fingertips that were all over, in the end he used on of the Jo Malone famous black paper and put the gift in a huge bag, he perforated the black paper also... he was obviously embarrassed and gave me and my husband extra samples. The problem with diversity is that the quality of the services falls down with great speed, when sexual preference or skin color are the only criteria to hire somebody for a job. If you have someone who cannot put a ribbon on a box to one of the most select perfumeries, its not the end of the world, but it might be the end of the world for many people if an incompetent person will get a job as a pilot at the British Airways just on terms of diversity. Because commercial/airline pilot training is so expensive (£100k+ to gain all the licences and flying hours required) it effectively prices many aspiring pilots from working class backgrounds out of this career. Literally, if you don't have parents willing to bankroll you through the 18 months of training, you've got no chance.

My next door neighbor is a commercial pilot. He offered to pay for flight school for both his son and daughter so they could qualify as pilots. Both adult children enrolled in flight school. The son graduated, and is now flying transcontinental passenger flights in the US. The daughter dropped out, as many women do--the role of airline pilot didn't appeal to her. Instead, she enrolled in nursing school and is very happy in that profession. There's a reason there's more male engineers, pilots, and computer programmers and more female teachers, nurses, and social workers--turns out, the sexes have different aptitudes and interests. This is true even in societies of gender equality, such as the Scandinavian countries.
Once all of these diverse people are employed does that mean they'll have to start hiring whitie again because there can't possibly be enough of them to fill all of the rolls available? I also recall Australia considering a similar sheme with their ATC's... I wonder how that went?

Once again, there's no such thing as a 'multicultural society'. If you've got a population with different (incompatible?) cultures, you've automatically got 'parallel societies'. In a normal (monocultural) society, people are offered jobs purely on ability because they are the best candidates, and everyone should be happy to accept that for the sake of all. Perhaps if we're going to run parallel societies in the employment field based on race, we should also have similar parallel industries so that members of each ethnic group can get what they think they deserve without prejudicing the rights and safety of others. That way, at least standards and safety of the majority are not being compromised simply for the luxury of placating a few minority egos.

Outstanding vacancies: 30
Candidates come in from all over the world.

The average IQ of an airline pilot is about 120. This kind of explains everything.
@@distantthunder12ck55far end of the bell curve for subsaharans
And get their planes maintained in Europe and the US by properly trained competent engineering teams.
Who cares if they're a terrible pilot, so long as they're black, brown, etc. Good lord.
I do not want a diversity candidate. The UK becomes more ridiculous daily.
I somehow can't seem to get the image of Diane Abbott in the cockpit and at the controls out of my head.
Flying at a speed of 120 square kilograms.
A frightening thought indeed. I am trying to imagine what she would look like in the uniform.
Drop standards to be more inclusive?? What’s the worst that could happen? 🤔
Yea man, dis am your captin speekin innit bruv .
Diane Abbott seems perfect for the.job!
Sorry, her work as a hot air balloon filler is the nearest she can do for the flying industry
@@stevenpaterson5100 full of hot air in more ways than one I think...
Yes ,ding dong ..... this is your captain speaking cpt dianne Abbott ,we are experiencing problems with engine number three !! She's flying a two engined 737
I do not think that I would like to fly when my pilot has been given the job because they ticked a box; I like to feel safe when I fly, not praying that some idiot at the controls is going to get me home safe.
Mediocre women and black men can now rest easy.
Look what happened when the US Navy "fast-tracked" the first female carrier-based fighter pilot.
I think there should be a fast track pilot training program for drag queens too.
,,,and the downfall of the USA began with Obama.
@@GreggFellowsNot 100 % of them. If you get the idea.😅
@@GreggFellows she didn't even make it back onto the fucking carrier. If you read the details of her death, she did pretty much everything wrong due to lack of experience.
@GreggFellows they sure are mate, that's why ability should come before any other criteria.
Jobs have never been awarded merits, especially well playing ones. Simon wants to live in a world where only middle class people have opportunities to get on in life. F him
@@oldboygeorge7688How did you work that one out?

That’s why equality of opportunity is important, not box ticking discrimination
@@oldboygeorge7688 F you as well div....Merit comes first over leroy diversity . What a t**t you are.
@@oldboygeorge7688 I'd agree that it has never been unknown for a bit of skulduggery to be going on in the jobs market, but there's never any dispute that it IS skulduggery, absolutely NOT playing the game, etc., and always severely frowned on when it's not outright illegal. With this atrocious 'diversity' farce people are trying to kid us that this outrage is acceptable!
I'll try to avoid BA. Virgin's probably even worse. Their last advertisement was all about transvestism 😒
There are no black,Asian or female workers on any of the big new homes building sites that I’ve seen, why is that?
AAARGH. THERES A REASON MEN make better pilots. They have certain thinking skills women dont. And.... Im stopping here.
Vote Labour get a dinghy diver as a neighbour.
Yet the Tories record is far worse.
A pox on both of them.
Both as bad as each other
Neighbour? will be your lodger. Or else.
Vote Labour, get Sharia
Blair is to blame for all this when he took office in 1997? We never had these problems before and his human rights bill that he forced through ( his obsession re eu president) was the start of it
