Jack Skydel was born on April 4, 1932. His birth saved his mother from having to make Passover Seder. Born in Bridgeport, he grew up in Skydel’s Department store, the family store. He started at the age of twelve and worked there until it closed, fifty years later.
His Uncle Abe was not pleased when Jack received his draft notice in December. Uncle Abe’s reaction will make you laugh. You will also find out how business was conducted in time gone by.
