This is a very detail demonstration how the machine is set up as well as info about how it works ! Secondly, the fishing line ( video 1:50 ) is a demo showing how your threads should be line up ( run ) from the thread holder to the needle so you won't mess up when reading the user's manual.
Seriously, Sophie, this is by far the clearest and simplest video on this shoe-repair machine! From unboxing to testing, you covered it all; great job!
surprisingly helped me a lot, Sophie! mine was left untouched for months after failing so many times, videos after videos and I noticed non of them mentioned the rod that connects to the needle. doing that helped me and now its running smoothly! cant wait for the part 2!
I took the machine completely apart and cleaned it with denatured alcohol. I then buffed EVERYTHING with a steel polishing compound. The wood base has a removable tabletop, to change between longarm and regular. I wish I had seen your video before getting started! The adjustments would not have taken months of swearing and giving up numerous times!
I remember buying one of these machines in my freshman year of high school (4yrs ago) to make custom slides and restitch AF1s, I wish I had a video like this back then to help but man did I smile seeing you make this video. It almost makes me want to buy another one lol
Helped out alot. I definitely would like to see a part 2. I wanna buy 1 of these to add materials to swooshes or replace the swoosh with other materials
I found deburring the presser foot & bobbins helped a lot. Filing down the presser foot so it doesn't mark the material, sanding down the bobbins as they have tiny metal burs that will catch while spinning & break the thread.
Nicely done video ! A small cheap magnet ( most of the bobbins seem to be steel) can be used to pull the bobbin out easily. It can also be stored on the machine for convenience.
One key feature of this is the wings at the front that are used to enable the sewing direction to be rotated a complete 360 degrees, so you can sew in any direction you want. It can sew a circle without rotating the material being sewn. It's going to sew in the direction that the presser foot is pointing. To turn it, put the crank handle in the 9 o'clock position, so the needle is in the material and the presser is up, then rotate to the direction desired, and continue sewing.
I actually had no problems using the tripod stand, mine were made of steel and hold it perfectly stable when using it. Using the stand allows the narrow arm to be inserted into a shoe, which wouldn't be possible if secured from the bottom front of the arm. Only thing I did was wedge the legs into the stand to keep them from falling out when lifting the machine to move around. Mine didn't have set screws but it was fine with just the press fit.
I’ve followed you for some years and I’ve been wanting to get a leather sewing machine and I got one on a local bidding site for $50 and it’s this exact video so thanks for these videos!
great video, very helpful. (wee question though: what's the rush? personally i had to keep backing up to repeat things. maybe that's just me but i thought i'd mention it. ymmv.) 👍✌🖖
You did an excellent job explaining how to set this up. One comment, side bar. The clear fishing wire is probably a guide for how you thread the machine. Make a knot (thread and fish wire) and pull through all of the guides until you reach the needle. And yes I would like to see what projects you decide to sew.
Harrison Hightower is the ONLY go to video when wanting to learn about the Chinese leather patcher, he teaches everything that you need to know about this machine and explains how to resolve anything and everything that could possibly give you a problem with this machine, its built rough and many who purchase this machine have problems out the gate but once everything is sanded down and properly greased this machine works wonders, for the price of this machine it's amazing, I love my machine.
=Great= video, Sophie. You covered everything clearly and quickly, and stated the reason for the changes. Incredible. ('cept for the LoFi playing 4 seconds of a bad 1960's pop 40 song backwards over and over and over and over again. OMG)
Thanks for this. Any tips on how to make the machine turn easier? When holding the handle to make it turn i often have to use my pinky or ring finger to help rotate the wheel as I tu would stop in the rotation.
ive been wanting to add sewing to my customs but all machines are expensive and complicated....BUT then you out this video out and its 🔥... seems super precise and easy to follow
Very interesting video, thanks for sharing! I am thinking on fixing my own shoes! Could you please mention the name of the machine? Thank you very much for your help for others!
I have a quick question. Is it possible to just remove the presser foot all together? I amvlooking ar getting one to sew regular patches on caps and possibly leather patches on caps as well. Think this would work great for that.
@@Sophiesophss lets goo,i start my custom business 1 month ago and its going very well !!! And youre one of the reason !! Thanks so much for giving us free tips and trick! You deserve the best
haha, sure for that..if you have the chance to go to China, every corner of an old street, there will be an old man or lady using one of these machines mending leather or sports shoes for millions if not billions of Chinese. I am buying one just to fix my 5 pair Asics shoes...
Hey Sophie, when I click on the link, 4 machines are coming up. You did say to purchase the $90 one but then again this video is 7 months old and inflation is a real thing. so I’m a little confused. Do I purchase the $88 dollar one or has the price of this particular one gone up? Can you specify which exact one to purchase? ❤
They’re all pretty much the same so whichever price works best for you👍 The specific one I purchased is no longer available so i wanted to provide available options 🙌
If the shoe is painted it could damage the paint. Lots of fixes though! You can sand the bottom of the presser foot, attach felt, tape, rubber or even buy a new foot that doesnt leave marks👍 Ill try to incorporate that in part 2!
HI. This is the first video with a machine that looks like mine. Yes! So, I'm having trouble with the screw that holds the crank wheel on. I have to tighten it every 8 to 12 turns. Very annoying. When I forget the thing pulls away so the machine doesn't sew and I have to realign corretly and tighten the screw. Start all over. Any suggestios for a fix? Thanks!
The sewn piece of leather you see under the needle when first unboxing is not to protect the needle, it’s to show that the machine has been tested and works. Quality testing. 🙄

Thank you so much! I wanted it to be clear and to the point 🙌 Glad I could help!
calm down
Out of all the videos I watched this one actually helped me get the machine actually working
I bought one several years ago and after watching this there are so many improvements I am thinking about buying a new one.

Man same 😂 literally all I want it for
Nice work Sophie. One of the demonstrators actually sanded off
the cleats on the bottom of the pressure foot to smooth the leather indentions.
Thanks
The Girl is still at it. Awesome

Great ! You seem to be the only person that explains how to put bobbin thread into the shuttle. THANK YOU!
Seriously the best of how to tutorial. I am thinking of buy one of these machines as paying 2K is affordable right now.. for me.

I love the way you explained everything about the machine. Thank you so much for sharing 🤗🔥
So glad to hear this! 🙌

I've been checking that out..been wondering if its worth picking up
Just asked a question on your latest video! This answered it. Super helpful breakdown of this sewing machine.
Was just gonna reply to it saying to watch this video haha. This video really shows how to avoid that thread breaking 🙌
Instead of threading new threads. Just tie your new one to the one already threaded and pull it through. Just a lil advice to anyone getting one.
Perfectly executed!!! Thank u!! I wanna get one for HATS to sew on patches 🤔🤔❤❤❤❤
This video helped me so much! Bought one of these 6 mo ago and took one look at the directions n gave up! Now I can actually use it thanks!
Yay this makes me happy! 🥹🙌
excellent clear easy to understand. my issue is my hand crank wont rotate all the way. only half wy
You are a badass for being like the only video on this. Thank you for posting.
Awesome! thank you so much..this video save our life with this machine. simple and clear!

Thank you so much! And yes I was thinking it was some sort of guide! After shipping though it comes all tangled and out place 😩
I just got mine last week! Thank you so much for this. All the other tutorials I saw weren't nearly as precise as this one.
Yay! I felt like a lot of other tutorials were all over the place so I tried summarizing them in one video 🙌 Thank you for watching!

Hey thanks SophieSophs. Your vids helped me so much when it comes to customs!
Omg yay! So glad to hear that🥹❤️
If you made this vid 3 years ago, you'd have saved me. But it's okay, it's always okay to start again. Thank you for this video.
Very interesting video, thanks for sharing! I am thinking on fixing my own shoes! Could you please mention the name of the machine? Thank you very much for your help for others!
Best video out there!
This really helps me even before i buy the machine.
But the question is where can i get one and what is it specific name.of this machine ?
Need that part 2

Thank You, tutorial is ❤ phenomenal
Thankzz! Needed that. Nice Shoez 2
Thank you for this video 😊
Omg it’s been so long since I seen your shoes videos I remember I was 14 watching your content.
Omg! Welcome back🥹
How old are you now, 15?
From what I was told the little piece of leather is test stitches to show that the machine is in working condition after build is complete.
Agreed! Also protects the needle in transit. I think it serves both purposes 👍
Sophieee you need to post more!!
Im on it! 🫡

We all did! Aha
Part 2 please
🫡
i had the same machine from amazon a few years ago. lots of time spent trying to make it work, and replacing parts. no luck whatsoever.
I think some of the machines come damaged and others come working cause people have told me mixed reviews 😩
Thank you!
Can you do a Zig Zag stitch with this machine?
Girl thanks!!
Hands down the best video and customizer.. thank you
Love it thank you very much!
Make part two how to sow please!
Loved it!!!
This video help me a lot. I just got my machine today and I need to at it up.
If my heavy duty sewing machine sews through leather, can I use that instead of buying another sewing machine?
where do I get shoe patterns from?
Yeah 👍 do a part 2
🙌
Great job
Id like a part two
But i wanted to know if its possible to sew into the sole of like af1s or any other shoe sole
Hmm im not sure actually. Ive heard this machine is pretty strong but thats something I would have to test out!
haha, sure for that..if you have the chance to go to China, every corner of an old street, there will be an old man or lady using one of these machines mending leather or sports shoes for millions if not billions of Chinese.

can you sew a shoes in edging sir
Is that presser foot going to damage my af1 sneakers like it did with the leather . And do you recommend a press or foot and how to attach it ??
If the shoe is painted it could damage the paint. Lots of fixes though! You can sand the bottom of the presser foot, attach felt, tape, rubber or even buy a new foot that doesnt leave marks👍 Ill try to incorporate that in part 2!

Part 2 please 😀👍
Will do 😁
Could you please tell me how I can buy this one..?
Amazon has many for sale ,I got 1 couple weeks ago for about $120
What type and size of thread and needle size do you use please
Following upping on this one too
Why is my rotating handle stop and don’t want to make a full rotation?

Pop a dab of purple loctite on the threads?
Part 2?
Coming up! 🙌
Damn this is sick

Looks like you got super lucky with getting a well painted clean machine! Perhaps the quality is improving.
Nice
Clarity!
then many will😉
Part 2
Mine keeps jamming idk wat to do
Do Not immediately throw away the thread running
through the machine. That is there to show you how
to thread the machine, which is not obvious. 😁✌🖖
Damn, where you been? 😂
Gone for too long 🤦♀️😩
hey hru
Less boring than men's reviews ;)
