does she have some kind of photo heavily taped on this beautiful Martin D28 ? My times have changed, I like it but I hope it's not impacting the vibration of the top or scar the finish later on down the road, Peace !
@@KR-uk1mz nope. no us. Picture of her and her first collaborator Kyle Ryan. I think she leaves it on because she is afraid it willl impact the vibration. It has DEFINATLEY scarred the finish FOREVER.
such a nice voice... reminiscent of mindy smith a bit... lyrics hmmmm... sometimes its tiring hearing lyrics of being a victim.... but voice and singing and the band is wonderful
good songwriters do still exist....I thought they had been finally replaced by computers and artificially inseminated korean boybands. no offense to korea or boybands btw
Artificially inseminated? I'll have you know, they're grown in a lab. The Powerpuff Girls documentary series accurately chronicles this. Get with the times. (lol)
I like watching these Tiny Desk concerts because it's a great way to discover new (to me) artists. I've never heard of her before but I really like her. I love her voice, the clarity and the power. She reminds me of Janice Ian and Joni Mitchell and also Sheryl Crow. And I like the songs, they tell a story.. They remind me of the cool songs that you hear in the background of movies. You know, the songs that you look up to see who it is. I love that.
So many great artists (at their best) on Tiny Desk.. Tedeschi Trucks (RIP Kofi), Alisa Amador, Madison Cunninham, Aoife O' Donovan, Watchhouse (Mandolin Orange), Sarah Jarosz (sp?).. (David Poe, and Janita, and Blake Morgan should be featured..).. All GREAT music.. 🎶😌🎶
Caught this just as I was getting ready for bed…and could not put it down until I finished the entire performance…mind…blown!!! The emotion in her voice and her lyrics almost brought me to tears, it’s THAT powerful.
What a great discovery this morning on CBS Saturday Sessions. I need to pay attention to more of these desk concerts. I think she's great. Her songs express such raw emotions in very lyrical ways. More, please!
Seen her a few times over the years. One of the best concerts I saw was front row, the Civil Wars opening for Madi at a small cluv called the Evening Muse in Charlotte. Glad to see her getting more spotlight on Tiny Desk.
it's a 58, we were going to use an SM7 but she couldn't get close enough to it... and when she backed off it sounded too different. so we switched to her 58. but there was grounding issues at her apartment so she was getting shocked whenever she touched it... all we had was the foam pop filter from the sm7... so it was either the mic will look crazy or Madi will get electrocuted... we chose the least painful but more permanent. haha
It always amazes me how well some musicians are able to walk the line of emotions. They channel so much of it into their music but are able to keep control (like Madi does at 2:48). Makes me kinda jealous lol. Sometimes I try to sing a song packed with emotion but I'm never able to keep it from overwhelming my voice like they are.
She just sang my life.
Criminally underrated record! What an icon
Amazing record !

Thank you for this, I wish she played nervous, love that one
Just got the chance to see her open for Waxahatchee. Wonderful!!
She’s amazing
This just made my day! Love me some Madi.. What a great songwriter and singer!
Madi Diaz has been an entire mood for me since seeing her live this past winter. Also, anyone know the artist featured behind her?
Is this the Madi Diaz opening for Harry styles this summer in T.O ??
Wow Thats a great band thanks Tiny desk

it's been on that guitar for more than a decade. I'm not 100% sure, but my guess is that it's a picture of her parents. you should forgive her.

fantastic band obviously but i wanted to give some love to the strings! what a beautiful orchestration, and beautifully executed too
❤❤❤
Mad fpr Madi!

Good songwriters do exist. Ben Howard is one of them.

Props to the drummer for being able to play the drums and the keyboard at the same time!
…and adding a harmony occasionally!
My thoughts exactly!

What vocal mic is that with the SM7B sock?
