Terence had an excellent choice. It's a really good combination. This is Latin Jazz. I wanted to see authentic jazz musicians and Latin jazz musicians working together. Lincoln Center only plays fake Latin jazz. Poncho sanchez, Pete Escovedo, Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera I prayed that these performers would join many authentic black jazz musicians. I love Latin spirit.
Let me tell you about this
Band and Terrence Blanchard. He has moved himself into the gates of all time flavors of horn players! This band is phenomenal! Even the cowbell player looks so cool and his sound. It’s so clean and Crispy. Those people are in for a wonderful wonderful treat! Percussion, 🥁 couldn’t be more full of energy and precision. Look at all the horn players. Brass has never ever sounded more clear and all together lovely! I am completely overwhelmed by this performance! This is most definitely time capsule material!✊🏽🥰✅♥️🌹✝️🫡 oh, my goodness! Charge it to my brain never to my heart, strings!!! fortissimo!!!!❤❤❤❤

THEY ARE GROOVIN HIGH, LOW, AND ALL PARTS IN BETWEEN.
Love
El ya fallecido David Torres (1953-2013) dando siempre la clave en el piano.
What a great player!!!
Forever missed.❤
Hey everyone! I am one of the street team members for jazz artist Terence Blanchard - I hope it is ok to post this message here to anyone who supports Terence's music and efforts. Thank you in advance for allowing us to share Terence's latest endeavor and his call for anyone to spread the word or contribute about this.
Terence Blanchard's highly acclaimed "Champion: An Opera in Jazz", is about the life and tragedies of boxer Emile Griffith. Terence was so moved by his story and penned an entire opera around Mr Griffith's life story and is planning to release a recording of the show....with some assistance.
It's not every day when we get to hear an opera with a heavy influence of jazz so that is why we also want to immortalize it through the recording
In order to do this, we need to raise funds for recording and distribution. In exchange, Terence is offering supporters various perks, which you can see in our crowd funding efforts bit.ly/1rYjeE2.
We hope you can be part of our dream to make this happen for jazz and opera fans worldwide!
I cant believe i barely found this version

Thank you for posting, we are really enjoying this fine band musicianship. here in Ensenada Baja CA Mexico. Thanks Poncho for all these great tunes and memories.
I remember when he use to jam at the Grand Avenue Sports Bar at the Biltmore Hotel...the 1923 beaux arts-inspired grande dame. He also use to Jam with Eddie Cano. Wow, so many great memories to share. Be well you all! Come to Baja. Its very safe. ~ 4-26-2017
I have vinyl from Eddie Cano !!
Maravilloso!!! Qué poder en ésta pieza...🎶🎼🎹🎷🎺🥁🎤🎧!!!❤️🙌

A Poncho Sanchez club gig is one of the finest of live music experiences possible....... I've seen him at Ram's Head On Stage in Annapolis, Maryland a couple times and Gordon Center for Performing Arts in Baltimore........ back when Ramon Banda was with him...... is the bass player in this not Ramon's brother?
Truly one of the finest Latin jazz groups ever :)

Plenty of it please!!!😂 💦 💧🚿
I would like to see more "Jazz" player playing Latin Jazz. They contribute a lot. IMO
Sad as it is to say, Latin Jazz has not been accepted by many in the Jazz community as being "Real" Jazz. It has had to suffer its discrimination - but, the good thing is that, there many fans out there who appreciate it's essence and truly understand it's significance.
The discrimination gone both ways. Many in the Latin jazz community don't believe Americans can play Latin jazz, even though the ones who've legitimately tried have done a good job. And past American groups like Los Homer's Calientes haven't been accepted. It's strange given the fact that Dizzy Gillespie tried to help unite American jazz with Latin jazz.
@@LoganCharlesII I also love Cal Tjader Different but great especially things like Black Orchid.
@@sparky16261 I agree
@@MrBoyblue07Es porque el Jazz Latino acaricia el Alma!
Y no cualquiera siente eso al oírlo!
En san diego ,pa cuando????
They need more cowbell. Only kidding . . . loved it! I wish Poncho would come down to Miami / Fort Lauderdale more often.
I really do love a good cow bell. Adds something to the whole set.

❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉yaaassssss!!!!!
@lizzisings7 Oh, thanks! :)
Four at the end that was ear candy.
Any trumpet players out there know if that is a Monet trumpet? I noticed the offset piston stems and the leadpipe integrated mouthpiece with heavy mass valve caps.
What an awesome analogy! I noticed that too about the horn Terrence is playing. It looks like the horn has no mouth 👄 piece! it’s absolutely beautiful!❤🎉
@@Uriahsgrandma Thanks for your comment. I'm a professional musician and was an instrument repair technician for decades. The worst enemy of good tone production in any wind instrument is air stream turbulence. The integrated mouthpiece to the leadpipe substantially reduces turbulence, by eliminating the gap found in traditional mouthpiece receivers; as a result, it provides for better response and aids intonation. Dave Monet incorporated this idea along with adding mass to the horn to darken the tone and make the horn respond better. Wynton Marsalis has been playing a Monet for quite a while.
@@garyzimmer8061 😳🥰👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 wow! I really appreciate the knowledge! Fascinating all the way around! My daughter plays second trumpet in her high school marching band. much like vocals as you know you have first second soprano 1st second alto first second tenor and so on. I believe the horns are the same way, correct me if I am mistaken.😁 I was completely floored when I saw the integrated mouthpiece. Because at first, I thought that he was playing without a mouthpiece, which was even more fascinating to me, if that was the case!🤣 for it would have taken much more power to push the air through the horn, and to maintain such a rich, dynamic sound! The wonders of music! And the musicians who innovatively Bring change and substance to a dynamic way of communication. Music is the healing force of the world! It’s understood by every man, woman, boy and girl! ( the o jays)
“I love music.” ,…1971✊🏽👍🏽♥️🌹
Check out this tune.
Guaranteed an awesome feeling to overcome you!😁
Also, check the beginning of the song. How the lead vocalist actually plays with and on the actual scales. Meaning, the do re mi warm up. Then come back to me and let me know how you like that.!🤣 you have just woken a friend in music!🌹
No dan los créditos de los autores. DIZZY GILLEPSIE es el autor del tema. El arreglo no sé quién lo hizo.
Great sax solo ... Anyone know who this is ...?
Mambo
Mucho sonido
Que es lo que dicen en el primer grito ???
Menciona al timbalero, chochi es el apodo del Joven Timbalero, que por cierto es demasiado bueno!

Esa trompeta tiene boquilla fija ???
yes
@@franciscoramifa 👌
Si!!!😊❤
What genre is this?
It's commonly known as Latin Jazz or Afro/Cuban Jazz.
Latin!!!❤😊
it's a monette-ophone
Latin jazz, but it can be subcatergorized into salsa also:)
That trumpet doesn't require a mouthpiece?
The mouthpiece is soldered into the lead pipe - I know, I had the same question when I first saw this type of Trumpet.
It’s smelted into the pipe. Look at it you can see it.❤😊
ice cube playing trumpet?
