I was up on gull all last week and couldn't get a walleye to bite. Hearing your league struggled makes me feel like i shouldn't quit walleye fishing. 😂
Again, another great informal video from Nick… awesome to see you and Brett doing well in league last night. There was a league type thing on North Long last night too, took a long time to get off the lake lol. I managed to hook into a mid 20s walleye, but ended up getting off when nearing the net and I also got a 20 incher… but a lot of lookers… tried many different presentations. The thing I have to tell myself more that you preached is to move on… I feel like I stay in one area too long and waiting for fish to move in or something vs target them, try a few presentations and just go. I always have jig and crawler, jiggin rap, and drop shot ready to toss. Thanks for your info, pleasure to learn!
@@NickLindner dialed in on copying what you, Brett, TJ and Tom Boley do, but finding and catching is another story 😂. I’m still learning, but I appreciate the content all you guys make.
really appreciate the tips.....here in Ohio the inland lakes are next to impossible to catch...the skiers chop up so much cabbage its difficult to fish with out being fouled with debris....just floating everywhere
Hopefully this trip lives up to your trip from last summer! Can't wait to watch the videos from all 3 of you guys. They will get me pumped for my Rainy trip in September.
Another question > I see you had a console boat . How do you back troll ? I have a tiller and Im thinking of getting a boat with a windshield but I'm concerned that it will hinder my back trolling , Thanks
Thanks Im a recent subscriber . What are the moon phases which are best ? I know you mentioned moon rise , moon set , moon overhead and moon underfoot but sometimes the moonrise ist at midafternoon ( just looked at moon phases today ) since the su is out how does that help or honder fishing ? Thanks
"The vast majority of the walleyes you run into on the lake are just not going to be that hungry..." "You need to keep moving...." Agree with the 2nd comment, yet I strongly disagree with the 1st comment. As a longtime guide on Leech Lake one said to me in the Summer of 2001, "the warmer the water gets the higher the fish's metabolism is and the more they have to eat." You got to this later in your video, but it should be the overriding thought in the August walleye angler's arsenal. Slip bobbering- and moving on when you strike out- and trolling are great ways to find fish in overcast and low light times. They are there and they have to eat.
I understand the logic, but at the end of the day, mid-summer hot water walleyes are the toughest to catch, so the high metabolism = more aggressive and better fishing theory doesn't really hold up.
@@NickLindner I would not say they are "more aggressive". Because their bodies are warmer, they just have to eat whether it's an easy meal (rusty crayfish) or not.
I use the #1 a lot for a jig & crawler setup, but #2 is good overall, whether you're using a crawler or a minnow-shaped plastic. The #3 is a better choice if you're going to use a swimbait on the jig. But if you're going to run a swimbait, you're probably better off upsizing to a 1/4 or heavier.
I fish oneida lake NY - im an NWT competitor, tournament angler, I own my own lure brand, I have a 2022 Lund - you wouldnt catch a fish over 24" on oneida lake and thats an open challenge - lakeside outfitter ask for Julian lets set this up 😂🎉

Haha, Gull can be WILDY hard some days, especially during the summer. Don't feel bad
Agree with these tips!! We find ourselves pulling spinners and always wonder what else we should try!! Need to start using the reaction baits more !!
Thanks Craig! Let me know if you end up getting them that way!
Should be some great content coming from you and TJ. Good luck. Looking forward to it!😎
We had a fun time up there!
Thanks so much for your videos. I have been getting frustrated lately not finding fish but your videos get me right back out to try again.
Thanks Sean! I'm glad to help anyway I can

@@NickLindner Lol, when my wife asks why I need to buy the next walleye thing… I’m just going to say it’s cuz Nick is catching them on it 😂
Good video, Nick! Hope you share the Rainy trip!
Thanks John. We had a great time! Some videos coming out for sure
Eso-what-ic? 😅 Apparently I'm not the "small number of people with a specialized knowledge" in knowing what that word means without Googling it LOL.
I was thinking the same thing lol
Fantastic information Nick! I really appreciate your help and insight!
Glad you could get some helpful tidbits!
Enjoy your trip to Canada Nick! Thanks for the great content.
Thanks for watching Dane
Three of my favorite UA-camrs up on Rainy…. Don’t forget to bring the cameras! 😅
We brought em!

Ugh, that's unfortunate

It worked!!
Rubber band to keep the drop-shot weight tight with the rod handle in storage.... why they heck didn't I think of that?! Thanks for that tip!
100%!
49 degrees this morning here, high of 64 today and mid 70s for the next 10 days...Central Minn lake temps have probably peaked for this year.
I believe so! And I'm not mad about it haha

It definitely will hinder your backtrolling. But that's not something I do now, so not a problem for me.
Can you please give some tips for walleye and bass fishing at youngs point trent seven waterway.
I've never fished there so I can't say for sure!

I tend to prefer the Minors (rise, set) to the Majors (overhead, underfoot).
It’s been tougher even in Canada with all this schizophrenic weather this year.
Hopefully things will improve!
Wow!! A 30” and a 29”!! That 29” was about as big as your daughter!!! Good job!!
It was a super fun and special moment!
All correct.
Thanks!

Haha, I love that phrase. Shoutout to Brian Brosdahl for being the originator
Nick what rods you using you seem to have quite a few of em😄
I've been using the Tuned Up Custom Rods this year. A little pricey, but they are nice!
What size hook do you prefer on the 1/8 pz smeltinator? I see there are different options on northlands website
