THE PATH OF SRI RAMANA ~ SELF INQUIRY- PART ONE ~ By Sri Sadhu Om - Devotee of Ramana - Audiobook

  • I found this elucidation of Sri Ramana’s teachings unique
    among all the many books on his teachings ~ Lomakayu
    "
    How this book came into existence is briefly as
    follows: After Bhagavan Sri Ramana cast off His mortal body
    in 1950, many of His devotees from both India and abroad
    gradually came to recognize Sri Sadhu Om Swamigal, the
    author of this book, not only as one of the foremost
    disciples of Sri Bhagavan, but also as a person endowed
    with a rare gift to elucidate His teachings in a clear and
    simple manner which could easily be understood and
    followed in practice by all seekers of true knowledge. Thus
    many devotees used to approach Sri Swamigal seeking
    clarification from him about all aspects of Sri Bhagavan’s
    teachings, especially about the method of practicing
    Self-enquiry."

      Yes the fantom body that thinks it is I, for most of us has gone through many spiritual paths (and probably many lifetimes) before getting here to Bhagavan Sri Ramana's final path. Hopefully this results in the end of the ego if we are earnest and want it bad enough. 🙏

    The idea that the body dont exist in deep sleep, hence we are not the body can be little confusing to some. But a simpler explanation can be that this body has been a single cell once (in mother's womb), it became little bigger and then the body came out from our mother's womb....the body is constantly changing from the day it came from the womb. it is simply made up of the food which it eats, the air it breaths and the water is consumes. The body cannot be us because we were there when it was 1 day old, we will be there when it will be 70 years old...Body is just the food from this planet. It cannot be me. It can be only mine.

      It’s funny the longer one practices it and more effective they get at it the greater the polarization. Thus it gets easier to resist personal desires that push happiness into the future. But the urges get stronger too so if you fall back into the identification of the ego the outcomes can become highly depolarizing. Interesting thing i’ve discovered over time lol

    I am listning to him. I understand what he says. I dont agree with everything. Im happy with that, it becomes my truth, while i do enjoy listning to both him and kristnamurti, i dont compair them i just listen to their resoning because they both seem so devoted to the question I. This helps me enquire into my own understanding about it. Therefor i am so thankful for people like this who devoted their whole life. I dont say Im right and they are wrong. In my current state of mind i dont agree with everything, many things i do. I understand that this objective and subjective view is neither important or real. Thats the most facinating thing about it, its about our own truth. I know ive been asleep because i remembered falling asleep yesterday, i remember that i wake up in same place and hence i know ive been in deep sleep. However when i crashed hard loosing counciness during a motocross accident, i didnt know i had been put to sleep by the crash. I woke up, didnt have memory of neither crach or that i had been put to sleep because of it. So i wasnt aware of that because i had no memory of it. However i still excisted. I wasnt dead. So i wasnt that who knew i was asleep wither. Also there are more than five senses as well, balance is one forexample, there are more than that as well. As I see it I am life, i am that which is Alive. I can loose my eyes and loose the sense of sight. Without my eyes i cant see and experience outside to see what i have not seen. But i can live without it. However my heart can stop beating and if not taken care of, i am dead. So do i own the heart or im i the heart? How can these people say they dont think yet tell its childish as kristnamurti say to have no autharity, he says to listen to no one, to find our own truth yet when question him, he is right and the other is wrong. Thats interesting," i am no autharity but you should listen to me, have your own reality in mind but youre wrong if you disagree with me". 😅 And ramana tells us we are not our body because we excist in deep sleep. Because we are aware we been sleeping. And that we are. I have experienced different, like if you dont know how it is to be drunk because you dont drink, you cant understand. Thats my take on it. And that ramana say its childish to say we are our body, is like stating an opinion, its subjective therefor not facts missing their own points. I wonder if there trully is anyone who dont fall for the tricks of the Brain, just all efforts to enquire is just another illusion by the mind. I do love alot of kristnamurti about there cant be division yet falls under it anyway. Yet its soo very interesting and i think he is into something. I will defently keep enquire into this, i do it my own way, or atleast what my mind thinks. I do realize that that itself is a mindtrick. My thoughts couldnt be there without my body or Brain. Since all experiences is my experience, i am the experiencer and the experienced therefor i dont excist. Its a product by my brains chemicals, the nature of human and the interaction with its envoirment. I am all because without any interaction with envoirment there isnt any experience to taken place about the outside world, i wouldnt preceive i excisted. Which is a fenomona by itself. Everything the universe, me and all around me is what have constructed this body and my thoughts and experience. That a Table is a Table is because we said so, and gave meaning to it. However its only how its used that gives it its meaning, but its not my idea, i simply live in this world but i am nothing without it. Cut all my senses, even the sense of hunger, cut my brains chemicals and there is nothing for me to build experience. Neither within our outside, only darkness in this scull, with neither the sense of waking up or falling asleep nor to dream. If im born like that, nothing can be felt, sensed experienced or anything. My life, my counciness, my shame my guilt my everything is a product by my constructed life. Thought can come to stop but why do people want that, why do they want it to stop. Is it because they feel suffering will end, does that mean enjoyment will also? The haunt to this all seem like an endless rask. How do you think about memory, to preceive no tought, to stop all that, to stop registrating new memories, to a compelete stop, like a sleep which has nothing is some really brutal way to commit suicide. So much effort to reach to a point there is nothing, reseting the Brain to see like its new but nothing to remember. If thats attention like kristnamurti says, to attend that its full attention and focus, to not register watching the world with new eyes do sound compelling. Imo my goal with everything myself is not to end thought, but to rebuild without shame and everything in the sense that that its an illusion that have been mirrored, i have gathered it. Its not me, i have collected it. Thought will be there as these people somehow falls for their own projection about the ideas i might as well. Maybe i just have a different truth. That this is my take on it, its just a matter of finding another perspective. I have what i have gathered but that i can change how i view the world and be free from a lot of shame, fear and who knows. I will keep enquire and i love these people for all their eqnuireing. I dont belive in spirits at all. There is no sense of nothing with nothing. Without the sense of Brain chemicals, anything, memory of what happened senses neither. What is there to be councious about. If there is nothing to be councious about can we call that counciness. Do we need counciness to be Alive, i dont think so but isnt that counciness about we have been sleeping, that we enjoy a good sunset, that we can unlearn subjective thinking to see the Beauty in everything so beautiful. Isnt the entire sturcture of life just beautiful. That we can get new perspective to learn to understand fear, to see fear and unlearn it. The fear that lives in our memory, see the nature of it. See our inner drama and undrama it. That we can come everybody, no matter if its spirit or no spirit just learn to feel good with what we have. To feel enought, to feel that opinions in the end doesnt matter, that to be a good person is just subjective, that being good to yourself means to be good to others. To show to yourself by being an person that doesnt decive means you can trust others, to not demand anything from others nor yourself. How karma of conflict resolves when you act in the sense how how you truly wish life would be by acting according to it, in sense that we become free within ourself of the limit we has humans have. We mirror everything from outside in, to inside out. Learn to see what has been gathered and what is the rest of me. Having demands on others, is having demand on me, thinking somebody is ugly, im ugly if i dont look like this, im decieving so others must be too. This is the mirroring of the inside out. That comes from the outside in. I cant say its ugly its just a sturcture of human nature. Its beautiful, and can be dangerous too. To understand it. How does the actions i have been applied of right and wrong imprissoned me, to be a person for others how has that helped me. How have that helped anybody, as whoms thoughts are we really reflecting and maybe its just something that has been passed down for generations that we really dont know where it started. But its the nature of mankinds pshycie imo.

    I have a problem understanding the concept of the body not existing when someone is in deep sleep. How do I awaken someone from deep sleep by shaking the body when it doesn't exist?

    • @ash-8012
      @ash-8012 3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for sharing your question.
      Reality cannot be adequately explained by words as the former is beyond it. Maybe a metaphor might help. Saying that a person can be shaken awake from deep sleep validates the existence of a body is like saying that while you are dreaming you wake a person up in your dream so he has a body even when you wake up. When you wake up from the dream do you look for the person you shoke awake in your dream or did you not take the whole dream as unreal including the person you woke up. This seeming awake state we take as real is also a dream like the dream state when we go to sleep. Hope this helps a bit. 🙏

    • @jlg51078
      @jlg51078 2 роки тому

      He goes into that question towards the end we don’t need another to validate that we exist even though our body is there we are unconscious as far as that person’s senses can detect but we are not able to use our senses while asleep and yet we know that we continue to exist, we know that we have been sleeping it is self validated not through another’s senses. The truth is that our identity is Self with no thoughts no awareness of the outer world. The Self is not validated by another’s perceptions (thoughts and senses) as well taught in this simple explanation thoughts are the cause of suffering.

    I have great respect for Sadhu Om, who wrote Path of Ramana as also Sadhanai saram.
    However, in most cases he has struggled to do a literal translation,. I don't know if there is someone amongst us who could rewrite these 2 books with a much lucid, easy flowing english. In some cases, the sentences are as long as 18 lines. There are commas, semi colons, umpteen punctuation marks....dragged on to such a length that the meaning is lost in the english.
    A Tamil person who has a good grasp of Ramana's teachings, as also who can put it in simple english, can do this great work for us.
    Even Lomakayu can do it for us. i have condensed some of these sentences in my blog, but the entire work is too voluminous and time consuming.
    Sadhanai Saram becomes almost unreadable, because of the horribly worded english. That is why I do not see any audiobooks of it. Same goes for Guru Vachak Kovai (1259 verses) by Muruganar and a few of Ramana's other works that were translated. Muruganar wanted himself to be considered on par with Manikvachakar. i think these ambitions drove them to write /translate these texts in an abstruse manner, rather than conveying the ideas fluently. The latter would benefit society. Thank you.
