Literally watched every video you made of the vstar. Finally purchased a 2002 v star 1100 classic and i love it!
+123lrojo that's awesome, have fun
I have a '99 V Star 1100 Custom that I bought new. It now has 90,000 miles on it and at 21 years old still runs like new. These bikes are bulletproof the only things I've had to replace besides batteries, fluids, brake pads, and tires is the clutch and the voltage regulator.
Yamaha forever!
At how many miles did you replace the clutch and voltage regulator on yours?
Thanks!
@@markchimmy voltage regulator was changed early around 20K l think it was defective as its replacement has lasted 100K . I replaced the OEM clutch with upgraded parts at 45K and haven't replaced it since. I sold the bike in September 2021 with 120000 miles on it and bought a 2006 Royal Star Midnight Venture, another awesome Yamaha.
Cheers.
Thank you for sharing it's good to know what to kind of expect and learn from others and their experiences with these great motorcycles and it's amazing that these motorcycles are able to have that many miles on them with proper maintenance like yours had 120k wow!
I thought 80k-100k would be the limit, but 120k wow! that's really impressive! and whoever bought it from you if it's the right person that cares probably still rides it without any problems,I would think. Thanks again for sharing interesting facts about this great motorcycle and what your experience was like having it throughout the years when you owned it. Take care and be safe out there and congrats on your new motorcycle that's another great one!👍
I own a 2000 V-Star 1100 Classic. I was on a "Poker run" with a mixed group of bikes. I was hearing the usual"Rice Burner" comments from the "Harley Guys"(all in good nature) I had a friend(of a friend) that was a certified Harley & Yamaha Mechanic. He saw my bike(baby) & heard the comments.. He told me that I was riding a "Coast Bike".I asked him what he meant? He said that if he had to leave immediately for the west coast(we were in Ga.), he would take a V-Star instead of his Harley( 05 Soft tail). He said that the V-Star was a more dependable bike than his Harley for the long hauls. He said he had worked on both at the different dealerships he had been employed at( 3 different dealerships 2-Harley 1-Yamaha) and knew what he was talking about (e
ven though he wouldn't let the other"Harley Guys" hear him say it! LOL!) True story!
I have a 2003 V Star 1100 with 35,000 kms (Canada) and your videos get me through our long winters. Yamaha doesn't build cruisers anymore, other than the Voyageur and the V Star lineup was stellar. It's July 3rd, 2023 and I'm going for ride.
SHINY SIDE UP!!!!
”It starts up pretty good”
*Struggles to start*
He had too much choke I think.
@@dtardis, actually it sounds like the starter clutch is about to go out!
took mine to Sturgis twice....rode needles hwy...the cork screw...it handled well with a passenger...2021 DragonsTail...cant wait....its a great low rideing bike....not mention...I live in the the land of below 0.....it starts every time
The V Star 1100s will hang with the 1340 Harleys. my V Star was just as strong if not stronger and much better ride too. My Dad's 1340 Harley is a great bike and I like it but my old V Star 1100 was a much better ride.
Great content. I used your vstar videos to purchase and navigate my "New to me" vstar. Thanks for all the vids.
thanks for the lovely ride man god bless..
+Brother Jared your welcome
I bought a Silverado as my first bike it’s a lil intimidating but I enjoy it
I like ur reviews. U do a good job
Like this cycle and look forward to to finding one. 😎
These are great bikes easy to wrench on bleeding brakes is easy these taken care of run forever
Very informative video , is that five speed bike?
That's just a problem with Dragstar. I should have bought it earlier. I've got my life spirit back and I smile when I ride my motorcycle.
Got my '03 Classic with 1900 miles on it for $3500. Almost felt bad for stealing it. Like this thing far more than any of the Harleys that I've owned.
The V Star 1100 is one of the craziest steering bikes I’ve ever ridden. Turn and it feels like the bike wants to pull you back the opposite direction.
I own this bike. I learned to ride on this bike. I am female. It is a wonderful bike for females to learn on and to drive. Don't let him keep talking about how manly it is to deter you from buying it. It is a perfect bike for me who is 5"2 and 3/4 tall. And a 110 pounds. I am able to control it just perfectly fine. Without being afraid. Like I was on my 2003 Harley anniversary bike.
Last june I bought the same bike same color. I got it for 2700.00 and it had 4700 miles on it. Now It has 6500. I love it for my first street bike. I'm an old dirt guy from the 70s. My last bike was a husky 400. Dam I miss that bike.
Is it quick? I have a 800 custom and I want something with more torque
I’m not tall 5.5 is it fine for me , what other problems you find , I’m in the middle of the deal to get one 2000
@@ApexFakie Yes it is I'm happy with it. And it has 11000 on it now.
Your commentary was great so many times had me laughing hard hhaha great video "gotta take care of ur self, made in the image of God" 😂
Do all V Star 1100’s steer crazy or just mine? If you make a turn, the bike feels like it wants to pull you in the opposite direction.
Are these bigger than a 1200 sporty? Size wise . Weight and such
Taylor Swift???? How about the Outlaws, Green Grass and High Tides, Thanks for reviewing, looking at similar model here in north Ga (01 Classic, bags, etc, 19k miles. Love my 03 Suzuki Anniversary model Volusia Intruder in pearl white with factory tribal flames but would like a little more heft/hp for longer than 500 mile rides.
I have the same bike year and color :')
Would you recommend the 1100 for long distance? Such as Michigan to Tennessee? I heard you mention long trip. But how far would you recommend?
Mine screams at 70 with cobra pipes n a hypercharger I'm sure it would do fine but I wouldn't put my bike through that for long periods of time that's just me though
@@isitreal1521 why not? Highway miles are worth half as much (wear and tear) as city miles. I’m sure this thing will travel across the us with no problem. And a couple Amazon mods won’t make your bike less reliable, so long as you keep up with regular maintenance and make sure you loctite everything lol
Yamaha are tanks last forever with minimal care
Youre a great guy with great reviews. I would not be as interested in bikes if you didnt make your videos.
Fingers crossed, I'll have one next month! Neighbor is holding it for me. He is the original owner. It's my first bike. A bit big, but I'm a short fat guy. So, need them extra horses, lol.
i just bought a 2004 and its also my first bike can you tell me how it was to lesrn on it?
@@joshuamunson9862 Two weeks away from picking up my bike! Did you ride yours yet? Super excited!
what is the diference in syze between the 650 and the 1100? and also the shadow 750... dont know wich one should i choose but i prefer biggest bikes... dont know if the price diference is worth it.
If you even have to ask... get a Shadow. I've had them both and the VSTAR was quite a bit faster and more of a handful for what it was.
1100 - 650 = 450
What kind of gloves are those?
Travis Walls gay gloves
Probably swapping my 2000 Hayabusa for one of these today (1999 Custom with around 11 000 miles on it). Unfortunately I can't keep it, as I have no room for 3 bikes, but I will definitely take a few rides on it and enjoy her while it lasts. Trading my Busa because it is frigging impossible to sell those things, for some reason. A very low mileage cruiser should be easier, I hope.. Beautiful bikes though.
@Desert Dawg Hmm, curious. Many people here just don't have the balls to own one of these. Dunno why; they are well behaved if you exercise some throttle control.
This is off subject, but is it normal for a v star 1100 to have a ticking sound? I have a 2005 classic and the engine ticks with the revs of the motor. it still runs perfect, so I didn't know if it was normal or something was wrong. I thought you may have run into this in the past. Thanks
Thomas Toler use 20w40 amsoil
I have a 2001 v star 1100 and have the same ticking sound. I took it to a Yamaha dealer for the 20k km maintenance and asked them if it's normal and they said it's fine, they didn't hear any sounds from the bike that were not normal, so I guess it's not a flaw but a feature :D
Do you have aftermarket pipes and a stock carburetor?
Yep, they all tick. (I know this is an old post, but for future readers)
the cobra exaust on a v star sounds amazing. this stoke sound isnt great at all. just my opinion.
Just bought a 2011 v star and converted into a bobber style with the cobras. Sounds so bad ass
How would you compare yamaha vstar 1100 vs yamaha xvs 1100?
It's the same bike
Same exact bike
Vstart has shaft final transmission xvs is belt final transmission
SUPER :)
... And of course, every time I'm looking for a test ride on a motorcycle I may or may not buy... Trying to decide if I will... Guess who's done a gazillion of them?
just don't buy the 600 class vstar and why the full gauntlet gloves? is it cold
who in hell cares lol
Just in case he crashes he doesn't mess up his hands
hell i ride 90 to 100 mph on my 1100
You should consider slowing down?
my kinda woman
🧨🙌😂
in croatia that bike is 7000$
Hey man, try to remember ladies ride too. So, when doing videos, try talking about how wonderfully even a 110 lbs lady like me can handle this bike with no problems. Its not a bike just for men. I mean, my man can ride on the back. I wouldn't stop him. But I drive my bike!
2 finger braking like CHIPS did.
Lancaster Co.? Have you ever seen any of the Amish Mafia our there?
Well nobody wants to stick there hands any where with four fingers
Lol almost wouldn't start
