I'm so glad you liked it, also shout out to the amazing June Saito who made all the costumes (and there are so many) she's brilliant! I think this is one of their tightest written shows and it goes by so quickly but there's still a lot in there, also the performances are all excellent, I especially liked your reaction to Jaime as poison ivy singing
To date me to hell and back, this was my first introduction to starkid. Someone on memebase shared this on a comics page they had and I clicked through and had literally the exact same reaction you did to the opening number.
I literally just learned this but the director of the show I'm currently in *met starkid* at their concert when Holy Musical B@man had just been released. Storytime I guess: My director had a rich friend who owned a model of a batmobile- that was also a limousine. I dont know much about cars but yeah, he and his friend went to the Starkid concert in the bat-limo and Starkid noticed during the meet and greet. When I heard this, I was literally shocked, so I hope you guys find this interesting.
Fun fact! The title "Holy Musical B@man" is a reference to the '66 Batman TV show, where a running theme was Robin declaring, "Holy [insert thematic noun here], Batman!" For example, "Holy Cat, Batman!" so it's a reference to that! My other favourite running thing from that show was Bat-[item]. You know, the bat-mobile, the bat-computer which is powered by the bat-diamond, the bat-shark-repellant, bat-thermal-underwear to name a few! Also I gotta say the line from Rogues are We "We harm in harmony, arm-in-arm we hold our stance" scratches my brain in all the right ways!
Definitely watch Little White Lie, it's the oldest thing they've got as far as I know, it's super interesting to see Starkid before really becoming Starkid, plus some parts are simply iconic (the song Harry from AVPM in the original version for LWL, the song Boy Toy,...). :D
This is one of the more meh musicals of StarKid for me since I don’t follow DC that closely, but I’m still having fun. Dylan’s singing is just divine, and the angst! Oh my heart!
There's no Joker because Batman is realllllly reallllllly pressed about who can use the Joker's name. In the show Gotham they couldn't even use him, instead opting for a character that "inspired" the Joker to become the Joker (even tho we all know he's the Joker)
Do you mean DC protects their Joker trademark more than their Batman and Superman ones? That’s utterly bizarre. All i can think of is that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are legally created entities and they can come after them when and if they need to. But there were Joker playing cards before the character was created, so to hold the trademark maybe they have to be more stringent? (If the Joker had been Jokerman, they probably wouldn’t have to be so stringent. And Catwoman’s name was changed from The Cat to Catwoman after her first appearance.)
@@ForeverDegenerate You're right. I added an "r" that schouldn't be there. But it's still "Povolo" and not "Polovo". But given the use of pronouns the name will always be open to some ambiguities as well. ;)
if you like joe walker, you should watch spies are forever!! i'm sure someone has already given you the rundown on what tin can bros is, but joey, joe, lauren, and curt (the president in black friday) are all in it! also tessa netting, who's engaged to joe moses (snape)
Though Superman did foreshadow him reversing time by reversing the earth's rotation, I didn't think much of it when I first watched the musical cause I saw that episode of the show on TV. And I simply laughed at the reference to a canon event on the TV show (which was already absurd).
I think it’s safe to say that Nick Lang, head writer along with Matt Lang and the guy who plays Robin and Barack Obama, is the one who came up with those delicious candy puns

Yaaay so happy you enjoyed the video! I'm with you, I prefer the drama-focused ones because you get a great mix of both genres, but the comedy ones always make me SO freaking happy. And thank you for the kind words, really appreciate it 🥰
18:23 Hey, it's Specs's great-great-great-great-great grandmother!
I love your commentary on this, and the way you appreciate the cast so much. hmb is one of my favourite starkid shows and i fall in love with jaime as poison ivy every time i see it
I have never noticed that Brian is dressed as Clark Kent in the opening song omg that's genius, well done on picking that up!
If u want more of the guy who plays Alfred, he's in Starkid's youtube show Little White Lies. He looks completely different tho, but he plays Duder. He's also in ANI.
So many scary similarities to Lego Batman I honestly thought it was plagerism.
ALL HAIL SWEET TOOTH!!!
The only dc related things I've ever seen are holy musical batman and the lego batman movie. I don't think I *ever* need to see anything else...
Lego Batman was the plagiarizer!!
And Batman vs Superman
I love your videos so much! I get a little bit happier every time I see you posted!
This is so sweet! Thank you so much for the kind words. And it's definitely reciprocal, I get a little bit happier every time you comment too ❤😊
I hope that you are planning to buy Starkid Homecoming and watch it once you get through all the shows. It just warms your heart! Also I can’t remember if you saw Nick Lang before but he is the one behind the shows. The Lang brothers write all the shows.
Yes, I'll be reacting to Homecoming too and I know the Lang Brothers now, brilliant minds :)
@@Barbara2.0 so excited!!! Homecoming is brilliant
I need to get up early so was going to leave this until tomorrow but I just had to know your reaction!
All hail June Saito!
I was the most surprised when I found out Calendar Man was a real DC comics character and not one of the rando characters made up for this musical
Jeff as Sweettooth is my favourite Starkid character!😁
Can totally see why
To date me to hell and back, this was my first introduction to starkid. Someone on memebase shared this on a comics page they had and I clicked through and had literally the exact same reaction you did to the opening number.
I literally just learned this but the director of the show I'm currently in *met starkid* at their concert when Holy Musical B@man had just been released.
Storytime I guess:
My director had a rich friend who owned a model of a batmobile- that was also a limousine. I dont know much about cars but yeah, he and his friend went to the Starkid concert in the bat-limo and Starkid noticed during the meet and greet.
When I heard this, I was literally shocked, so I hope you guys find this interesting.
This is one of my favorite Starkid shows
GLEE CAN WAIT
BARBARA you know exactly how to brighten my bad days!!
Sorry to hear you had a bad day, Sam :( But warms my heart to know the video helped 🥰
I WASNT MENTALLY PREPARED FOR NICK BUT IM GONNA HAVE TO BECAUSE NOTHING WILL STOP ME FROM WATCHING THIS VIDEO
Yeeeeeeeeeees \o/
gosh I love your reaction to this so much!!!! This makes me so happy!!!!!
So so nice to hear that! 🥰
I'm 2:30 in and it hits me that you're going to be introduced to Sweet Tooth. OMG. I can't wait to see your reaction!
Jaime Lynn in that costume is confirmation for me that yes, I am in fact a little bit bi. Like DAMN tho 🔥🔥🔥
Ikr??? By far the coolest costume out of all the Starkid shows I've seen
Which one? For me it's Ivy, WOW
Dylan's voice in this is just so good!!!
Someone has asked you to do Starry yet, right? Dylan is wondeful in that
Yes yes! Coming soon ;)
Yas! This is my favorite Starkid show and I am so happy you watched it and loved it!
I need to wait to watch this bc I can't now but I already know you're going to LOVE this
shit I'm still watching this even though I can't right now hahahahahaha
Hahahahaha don't get in trouble!
Barbara slamming in some awesome reviews, keep it up queen
There was this rumor i heard that the Lego Batman movie was inspired by Holy Musical B@man, the similarities are Striking
can we talk about your amazing look? like, HELLOOOO you are looking fabulous!!!
Aaaaw thank you so much!!
When I say I've been waiting for this one it is the understatement of the decade
the guy at 1:55 is called Jim Povolo, and uses xe/xir pronouns :)
Oh wow I'm early for once! Love your videos!
Thank you, Andrew! Hope you enjoy it :)
I have never related to anything more than your reaction to Dylan's singing in the opening number
27:53 knowing you probably know him as sirius black, i heard that as "siriusly?" the first time around lol
i love how you look betrayed by the fact that spiderman was alfred all along
I mean, come on! Hahaha
If you like Alfred I’m excited for you to see Ani...
Yay! You did this one! Thank you!
The person you didn't know the name of is called Jim Povolo. Xe uses he/xis pronouns (I hope those are right)
I didn't know that about Jim! Good for.. xim? xir?
Actually, the name is Jim Provolo and I don't care about the artificial pronouns in use.
@@pankesurfer8963 Nah it's Jim Povolo. Meredith's Group is named after him: Jim and The Povolos.
@@ForeverDegenerate You're right. I added an "r" that schouldn't be there. But it's still "Povolo" and not "Polovo".
But given the use of pronouns the name will always be open to some ambiguities as well. ;)
@@Jupiterninja95 'xir' I think. You can see how Jim's pronouns are used in xir official starkid bio: starkid.fandom.com/wiki/Jim_Povolo
I'm so happy you share my love for Dylan. He's SO amazing
One of my favorite Starkid shows!
if you like joe walker, you should watch spies are forever!! i'm sure someone has already given you the rundown on what tin can bros is, but joey, joe, lauren, and curt (the president in black friday) are all in it! also tessa netting, who's engaged to joe moses (snape)
Oh I've already done it and loved it! Here's a link if you wanna watch it: ua-cam.com/video/-u5EWPTbSP4/v-deo.html
Though Superman did foreshadow him reversing time by reversing the earth's rotation, I didn't think much of it when I first watched the musical cause I saw that episode of the show on TV. And I simply laughed at the reference to a canon event on the TV show (which was already absurd).
I LOVE YOUR CONTENT THAT'S ALL
I LOVE YOU FOR BEING HERE AND SUPPORTING IT THAT'S ALL ❤
Amazing as always!! Tres Joli!!!!
Thank you! :)
I think it’s safe to say that Nick Lang, head writer along with Matt Lang and the guy who plays Robin and Barack Obama, is the one who came up with those delicious candy puns
I adore Jim Pavolo, they're so good I'd actually be hyped to see them in a more prominent role tbh
I say let’s split the difference.
And call it a Blurse.
So I’m trying to check out the upcoming musical list and can’t see it. Is anyone else having that problem?
Hey Morgan, sorry about that. What kind of issue are you having? Is the link broken? In the meantime, here's a direct link, you'll find the list on the "about" section: ua-cam.com/users/Barbara20ishere
Let me know if that works :)
P.s.: that's not really the complete list because UA-cam has a character limit, but I update it every month with new shows.
I looooove HMB’s soundtrack, I wish they would do a Hatchetfield musical with Nick Gage on music. Sweet Tooth is my favorite Jeff Blum character for sure.
These are fun.
Doing a Little Shop of Horrors video would be a lot of fun.
The silliest Starkid show, I live
Starkid did Batman vs Superman before and better
FACTS
Joe Walker is the saddest, loneliest, darkest knight.
Love this musical. You clearly have a preference for Batman over Superman, but personally, I much prefer Superman to Batman.
