@@pgonzo98 It's the more is more style of drumming. People have been making this comment about these drummers for almost 60 years now. They levied it first at Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Dennis Chambers, etc., who all are now known as legends. It seems as if all other instruments are allowed to indulge in endless solos across any genre, but the drummer for some reason must sit in the pocket, unwavering for the entire performance. These guys throw conventional wisdom out the window and show you drums can be something more than just the 2&4. Clearly others see this as well, as they've collectively played with Davis, Coltrane, Clarke, Corea, Hancock, and MANY more. If you're not a fan of the style, that's fine, but it's much deeper than just "over playing".
