Battle rifles are automatic weapons that use full-size ammunition, like 7.62 NATO and larger. Anything smaller is an intermediate cartridge, like 5.56 NATO and 5.45x39
A light machine gun is something made to hold down suppressive fire from a distance, instead of being used by light infantry in the front lines like a battle rifle was. @@GForceGordon
@@CobaltZ_hansnot true. Battle rifles don’t necessarily have to be automatic or select fire to be classified as battle rifles. Look at the M1 Garand, SVT40, G43, AG42B, FN49, MAS49/56, etc. Even things like the M14 and FAL that did have selective fire capabilities often had the selector switch removed so that they were locked in semi auto (see most of the M14s used in Vietnam and the British L1A1). In truth, the term is very vague and most firearms experts would agree the term has a very loose definition, more so than “assault rifle” that’s for sure.
i really like battle rifles as a new class, but i think they could make them a little more unique in comparison to ars by just giving them all a acog or a dual optic.
A Battle Rifle is a Rifle that fires a Full Power Cartridge unlike a Assault Or Carbine Rifle that fires intermediate rounds (between Full Powered & Pistol Rounds)
@@GForceGordonit goes beyond that. Battle rifles are meant to be issued out to every rifleman in a squad. The BAR was NEVER intended to fulfill that role. Ergo, it’s not a battle rifle. From it’s very inception, it was meant to be a support weapon.
About FG42 -- you forgot one from the very first CoD. Yes, it was there :) Oh, by the way - I suppose that M1 Carbine can be also added to this list :)
The Carbine is the far from a battle rifle. It’s a pistol caliber carbine. .30 Carbine is just an overpowered pistol round, it doesn’t have range or accuracy of a full sized rifle round.
@GForceGordon No, I get that, I'm just wondering why it's spewing brass, coughing up gas in your face, and shooting the worst fire effects you could ask for. Does it always do that?
The original M1918 BAR wasn’t even issued with a bipod, they were intended for “walking fire,” a WWI concept that didn’t really work out. It was absolutely meant to be fired from the shoulder and it can be done with relative ease (source: I’ve fired M1918A2 BARs from the shoulder. It’s not that bad).
The Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR is not a battle rifle, it is a LMG so Im not sure why COD has it as a BR, which in all technicality isnt even a real thing, as its just a select fire infantry rifle, which would make all the ARs the same thing, the only major difference in COD is they are a larger caliber which still dont make it different cause a 30-06 is just a 7.62 NATO round(7.62x51 I believe) which is used in some LMG's and even some ARs like the SCAR 17, so in reality, any select fire, medium caliber rifle could be considered one but isnt.
What even IS a battle rifle?

@@CobaltZ_hans yeah but what exactly separates a BR from an LMG that also uses a full power cartridge? That's why there are more criteria.

Do every sub machine gun or assault rifle next! Light machine guns would also be cool though😃
I can do that but not soon, this was very time consuming lol

BAR being included on the battle rifles in COD, it is the true automatic rifle from World war so i ever seen that
I mean it meets all criteria, except its intended use in WW2, however in WW1 it was designed for shoulder fire so... Idk

It's delayed when I record it too, it's probably the emulator.

Yeah look I have the dumbest reason for not including it. One freaks out when trying to no make mistakes.
the BAR is considered as a LMG if I am not mistaken
The BAR was really considered more a support weapon then a battle rifle
also just for clarification the BAR is a lmg, and a failed attempt to make a assault rifle.
