This album is, without a doubt, some of her best work, lyrically, musically, and vocally. There aren't a ton of live performances available for this album as many of the songs were being perfected live. I think we will start seeing some really good live performances once she finishes her NA tour, and has a break between the different legs of the tour. I know she plans to do some shows in Australia, and I heard through the grapevine that she plans to announce a few more Europe tour dates, and (hopefully) a few more dates in NA. Aurora is going to be a busy bee for the next year. Track 2, 3, 4, and 5 were the singles, which is why they have more listens. In Conflict of the Mind, I'm almost positive the arpeggio vocal is inspired by the game "Sky: Children of the Light, that she collaborated with. There is a virtual Aurora concert, Aurora cosmetics, dances/emotes that Aurora modeled for, AND a musical instrument called "The Voice of Aurora" which is literally her voice scaled. When you play the instrument in the game, it sounds just like the arpeggio.
Excellent as always, Nina. Aurora is literally crediting Nature, and those royalties are going to a fund for nature conservation set up by "The Museum for the United Nations" through a project called "Sounds Right"
Awesome, I've been waiting for this ever since the album dropped! Favorite tracks from the first half are "The Conflict of the Mind" and "The Essence." For Part 2, I'm most looking forward to "A Soul with No King," "Starvation" and "The Blade." If you think the first half had some very unique songs, I think you'll find the second half perhaps even more so.
I’ll cut to the chase it’s my album of the year,never have I been so moved listening to an album.as an artist Aurora has delivered something very special lyrically every track has deep meaningful words plus as the title suggests a heart beat flowing along side auroras ethereal vocals.Aurora is simply a Genius ❤️

Love this new album and the creativity within. Her Vevo performances of Soul With No King and Some Type of Skin are just stunning examples of Aurora's magic. She gives music credits to Nature through her work with Brian Eno's Sounds Right music initiative that raises funds for conservation. Looking forward to Part 2 !!!

i been watching your AURROA videos for a while now. it still amazes me how well you can hear notes and play them exactly on your piano. like.. you don't even need a tutorial or paper sheet to make piano covers because you can hear it and just play it. i love your reaction as always

I like that you're doing this from a musician't point of view. We're learning something here, like e.g. the opposite movements in Some type of skin, or the chord-voice role swap in Echo of my shadow. Great stuff. I see people are recommending the two recent live at VEVO videos, and no wonder. These two are setting a new bar for Aurora, a definitive high watermark in her career so far. Just absolutely stunning performances. Not that the rest of her work is far behind.

She embodies the Dark - the weather helps her, wind blowing through her hair and gossamer garments. A breathtaking performance! She looks like a neoclassical painting of a goddess!
I just recalled the same thing in Prague. Wind blowing as she stood with one foot on the front monitor and raised fist during The Seed. That was emotional. True warrior.

Wow. Cool you made this part 1 as I love your reactions (especially Aurora reactions ;) ). I am waiting for part 2. My favorites are (i most sure first 2 in my ranking ;) ): 1) The Dark Dresses Lightly - incredible song and catchy too. In the even even almost some sensual/sexual vibe ;) 2) Dreams (probably most ppl have it a little lover in ranking but for me it is incredible beautiful - in 2 parts I feel Cohen inspiration or at last it reminds me him :) 3) A Soul with no King - I love all 3 versions. It is really worth to check other 2 versions: more striped down live Vevo version (Stunning!) and also Remix version which is connected with Sound Right initiative and mother Earth as an "artist" which actually was released before the album. All 3 versions have own feel/vibe. 4) Starvation (funny thing it was last liked be me in first listen and even before video was relased ;) ). There are 2 video versions (great videos on its own) standard and choreographic edit. 5 and more) For sure I also love: The Conflict of the Mind, Earthly Delight as a conversation of Adam with a God (in my interpretation ;) ), Blade and more. What Happened To The Heart? That is not only the title of the album, but the emotion in each song, a very complete album, words are not enough to describe it, from start to finish it is a total experience and food for our souls. I think each song is so unique and beautiful so it's just a matter of taste to choose favorites, but here is my top: 1. "A Soul With No King" in all its versions: original, nature remix and live version. (TRASCENDENTAL) 2. Invisible Wounds (EMOTIONAL) 3. Earthly Delights (ethereal, poetry, a complete journey) 4. Starvation (lyrics, trascendental, experimental, genre mixing, etc... SOTY) 5. Your Blood, The Dark Dresses Lightly (I honestly think the entire rest of the album could be here). Both halves are exceptional, can't wait for the next part
I can't wait for the second half, which features my three favourite songs from the album. The masterpiece 'A Soul For A King', the unexpected (goosebumps) ending 'Starvation' and the dynamic 'The Blade'.
you GOTTA watch her perform "when the dark dresses lightly" live at roskilde! the vocals are perfect, powerful, and possibly some of the best i've ever seen??
I can't find the source now, but I read a quote from Chris Greatti, who co-produced Conflict of the Mind, in which he said that her voice was recorded singing the arpeggio (if I am using the correct word), and if I recall correctly, four takes were layered (and obviously altered). So it was sung, rather than sampled. The longest of the recordings in the layered sequences is long enough that you can begin to hear the lag between the shortest and the longest of the recordings just at the end. If that makes sense.

Ahh Nina, you are doing the Queen of Valhalla, been a fan of Aurora's since she released Runaway, I just hope she puts The Blade on her live set before I finally see her live in November for the first time ever, maybe she has now don't know, so far I haven't seen it in any dates she has done.
The credit to 'the earth' is part of a UN project where there is a huge repository of sampled sounds of nature, indigenous peoples and sound effects, that artists can freely use in their projects, and in return they give a royalty-paying credit, with that money going into the UN earth charity.

Excellent album - Aurora is so good. This track and her vocal is very reminiscent of Cocteau Twins and Elizabeth Fraser’s beautiful wistful singing.
You absolutely must do A Soul with No King Live at VEVO version after the album. Unbelievable, one of Auroras best vocals and arrangements.
