I mean, honestly DnD subclasses make a lot of all same class parties viable. A billion times more so if the chosen class is cleric. That class can do whatever the fuck it wants (mostly because Wizards of the Coast seemingly wanted to make more people chose a "healer" class). Want to be a dedicated healer? Sure thing. Dedicated damage? Oh you betcha. Dedicated tank? Mhm!
All cleric? Literally unstoppable. All bard? Stun hell. All wizard? The nuking will spare you from having to worry about your health pool. All barbarian? The only healing you need is sleep, and the damage resistance.
I never thought we'd see the glorious return of the most coolest brothers in the land, Chadicus and Bradicus, but here we are, and the world is so much better for it
So close. We were so close to being able to say, “Even in a ProZD skit, F.O.E.!” Anyway, this reminded me of the time I broke EO5 in half with a Earthlain-Dragoon only party. Two Shield Bearers in front and three Cannon Bearers in back. I only did this because the game wouldn’t let me take all of the Cannon Bearer skills I wanted, and I also just wanted more guns (and I didn’t want to take any Warlocks). My entire plan was basically just turtling until I had Decoys out (Turrets or Bunkers, I’m not picky, though my preferences switched based on the enemy) in every available slot, then moving my Cannon Bearers forward and blasting the enemy with Buster Cannons. Prep Artillery + Gun Revenge + Buster Cannon turned basically everything to ash. I eventually realized I could just leave my Shield Bearers in the back the entire time, skip the turtling, and slam down two Bunkers and a Turret (or the opposite against certain enemies) on the first turn. Admittedly, I later switched out one Cannon Bearer for a Brouni-Botanist, since having a Merciful Healer was the only way to reliably heal without using items. This had the nice side effect of making it so nobody in my party had to share a portrait with another member while keeping the Dragoon portraits. Glued it to the back line, obviously. For later runs of the game, I always recreated that part, for use against anything I couldn’t otherwise figure out how to beat. If all else failed, I just brought in what was basically an American engineering team and some child they found. I then later realized that I could _solo the game_ with a Dragoon. It wasn’t even that hard, though it was slow. I began referencing the EO5 Dragoons in other games that allowed simultaneous use of both guns and shields because of just how good Dragoons are.
I'm happy the series could be continuing since they are doing remasters on the Switch and PC. It sort of felt like Nexus was the last one, and it was going to die with the 3DS.
Reminds me of when a game asks you what stats you want to start with when you have no idea how relevant or fun any of the stats you choose are going to be in the game. I usually just funnel my points in to strength 😅
"How hard can I gimp myself before my character's utterly useless?" My first playthrough of Tyranny playing as a barehanded atrophy specialist. The sheer number of RPGs I've started where I had to immediately gen a new character because I found the one build that had no attack options to speak of and so couldn't beat the first encounter...
Reminds me of back in the days when I started Baldur's Gate 2 and gave my Knight Bastard Sword proficiency because how the hell am I supposed to know that Two Handed swords is the way to go?
This is why I prefer to cheat and leaf through a few guides before making any early stat allocating decisions. "You can choose whatever you-" no, shush, I want to peek at the upcoming early quests first. Later I will probably commit to becoming as close to invisible as I can while also bashing enemies very hard, but practicality comes first.
The quality of a fantasy game is proportional to how viable my first playthrough is, which is invariably a dude with a sword in a suit of armor. I am a creature of habit.
If you think about it, these Ronins survived what should have been three full team wipes. They're clearly overleveled for the combat encounters and are just being let down by their party.
@@aegisScale You can't read scrolls unless you're a magic user or you put skill points in the right areas, both of which require a high intelligence that barbarians wouldn't have.
Fun Fact: while newbie medics may be fragile, Medics with full investment in HP Up ends up being one of the tankiest classes in EO1. Coincidentally, they can also hit very hard with ATK Up and Caduceus. And Immunize (buff skill for the party) makes the whole party basically invincible.
medic is literally the best class in eo1 they can do everything on their own: they can buff, attack, and heal all at the same time. Second best is Survivalist because they have the highest DPS in the game, so high that they got nerfed to the ground in all later games.
I keep seeing players build their teams without healers for these games, just so they can have another damage dealer to melt the enemy team really fast. …I can never do that. The enemies hit way too hard. Lol
Normal Fire Emblem 3H players: trains every student by focusing on their strengths and crests, and accounting for their weaknesses Me: trains every student into a bow knight because Mongol horde is best horde
dunno what youre talking about. every fire emblem player I know agrees that mounted units are superior to unmounted units. a general or even a swordmaster may have all the stats in the world, but a bow knight or paladin will always mete out more actual damage thanks to their insane mobility. and wyvern lords and falcon knights are even more insane because they dont even have to deal with terrain
There are so many lines that made me actually laugh out loud, but standing the back so as to not get in the way of the medics healing the part deserves a mention since the bleeding line already got quoted

@@nodot17 Paralysis was one of the status ailments you could use, but I don't remember if it was what was *the* status used in 5 NS teams. Iirc (it's been a decade) it was mostly useful for either farming F.O.E.s or fighting F.O.E.s at lower levels because their damage scaling off of hitting enemies with status ailments was so high.
And loading up on Ronin was also genuinely pretty viable in vanilla EO2 since they could hit all 6 physical and elemental damage types and Tsubame Gaeshi scaled up absurdly well. Offense is the best defense even if you die and lose all the time!
clearly it was a skill issue, and totally not a group composition issue.
Offense is the best defense if you kill your enemies with an huge fuck-off ax before they can become a threat. - Windowmaker from Age of Decadence, probably
That cameo of Archibald was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Congrats on getting sponsored by Atlus! The second you mentioned front and back row, I knew something was up with Etrian Odyssey! Love how you make your sponsorships super hilarious!
I love the ongoing saga of Bradicus and Chadicus.
Bradicus and Chadicus: The Five Ronin
Bradicus and Chadicus: The Three Medicks
Bradicus and Chadicus and the Lonza Necklaces of Power
The stories aren't long but are violent.
I really love how they aren't scared to kill off important characters
@@jaspernemo1825 It's refreshing
So how many more sagas until we get to the king dragon plot line?
NO WAYYYY when I heard you say landsknecht I was like "Wait. That's so hyper-specific. No way this is sponsored by Etrian Odyssey..?" and it IS!!!!! Never been so happy to watch an ad lol
Ikr I was like :00
So Archibald's class is a Landsknect? Cool lore drop.
This is. Exactly how I team build. HIT HARD AND HIT FIRST. PRAY THE ENEMY DIES BEFORE YOU DO.
every dnd party ever
I never thought we'd see the glorious return of the most coolest brothers in the land, Chadicus and Bradicus, but here we are, and the world is so much better for it
Been a while since I saw one of your videos. I'm really impressed with your range of voices and humor. Well done sir!
I am reminded of 8-bit theater. Those 2 guys would totally chat with Warrior about swords.
There’s something oddly pleasing about him chanting “SWORDS” with himself.
ProZD may not always do skits, but when he does, he creates perfection
So close. We were so close to being able to say, “Even in a ProZD skit, F.O.E.!”
Anyway, this reminded me of the time I broke EO5 in half with a Earthlain-Dragoon only party.
An Etrian Odyssey sponsor? This series is really getting some love lately, you love to see it
I'm happy the series could be continuing since they are doing remasters on the Switch and PC. It sort of felt like Nexus was the last one, and it was going to die with the 3DS.
i dont get why people like dungeon crawlers .....everytime i play them i drop em after half a playthrough
@@sandyk9300 Not a big fan of all of them, but I do enjoy EO.
No wonder this video reminded me of my time playing Persona Q2
@@connorsmith4319 understandable but i feel like almost all of em are the same
I love that Bradicus and Chadicus got their own spinoff series
You know who didn't love it? Ronins, me-dics, and landsknechts.
“Poor predictable Bradicus. Always takes sword.” “Good ol' sword. Nothing beats that!”
Etrian odyssey was such a fun time! Im so glad they're being brought back
(Or at least the first three)
Reminds me of when a game asks you what stats you want to start with when you have no idea how relevant or fun any of the stats you choose are going to be in the game.
I always go with magic and then pump vigor to the sky as well.
Y'know, its nice to come back to the king dragon universe every once in a while.
I immediately joined the "swords!" chanting
That game looks right up my alley, definitely gonna check it out, then try out all your great team build recommendations.
"Do we really have to go with them?" "I'm so sorry"
Oh my god, the slow realisation that it was an Etrian Odyssey skit, warmed my heart of fan for such a niche franchise!!!
I love EO, it's so cool you were sponsored by ATLUS, I can't wait to create a new story on the switch
This may have actually been the only time ever that I have seen sponsored content and gone "oh shit, really? I need to buy that immediately"
I immediately thought of Etrian Odyssey, then he started listing the classes.
I instantly thought of the story about the all-barbarian D&D party, which surprisingly worked out a lot better than the ronins in this video haha
Too bad that only Babarians fall of after level 8 and later.
@@Mendoza-yi6qknah mate roll an all zealot barb high level party. The "literally unkillable" gang.
@@TheBerylfly just grab a few Resurrection scrolls and you're all set
If you think about it, these Ronins survived what should have been three full team wipes. They're clearly overleveled for the combat encounters and are just being let down by their party.
@@aegisScale You can't read scrolls unless you're a magic user or you put skill points in the right areas, both of which require a high intelligence that barbarians wouldn't have.
I didn't read the caption and I went "hmm that feels awfully similar to EO's classes", when he mentioned landies I lost it HAHAHAH

Immunize? Good.
Morale-boost Immunize? Perfection.
Caduceus? You mean Chadicus?
im pretty sure it is Me Dicks
EO1 Medic's ATK Up is for some reason a 300% Damage boost, unlike literally everyone else's ATK Up passive

Chadicus and Bradicus, the epic prequel to King Dragon.
0:11 "If we all hit the bad guys really hard and really fast, everything will be okay"

Normal Fire Emblem 3H players: trains every student by focusing on their strengths and crests, and accounting for their weaknesses

dunno what youre talking about. every fire emblem player I know agrees that mounted units are superior to unmounted units. a general or even a swordmaster may have all the stats in the world, but a bow knight or paladin will always mete out more actual damage thanks to their insane mobility. and wyvern lords and falcon knights are even more insane because they dont even have to deal with terrain
The real question: EO1 or EO2? If it's EO2, yeah, Ronin is very viable. EO1 Ronin? Not even God can save you at that point

There were few scenarios that couldn't straight up rush down, and that's what the Hexer + War Mage combo dealt with as backup
@@gtf234 U2 had a similar cheese in the remake with ronin's force break. It had insta kill on it so you could just open the battle with 5 of them back to back and it'll probably kill a FOE even if you were underleveled.
