Amazing scenery
Great hunt! I've found them on rocky hills like that too. I love it when the hike to a dog on point is worth it.
Hahaha yeah they really made us work for it this trip but like you said, totally worth it!
Awesome, you got out there and got some Gambels and scalies. What an adventure! That's some crazy terrain. What chokes are you using if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking about using improved cylinder and modified in my new side by side for Gambels.
Yep I use IC and Mod for desert quail
Thanks guys!@@WildernessIsBliss
Without giving too much info, you think you can help me find out what units I should look into? I’m in Phoenix az
From phoenix you have options in every direction. Plenty of birds in Tonto N.F. and theres quite a bit of BLM and state trust land outside of the valley. Usually the further you are from town the better but that's not to say there aren't closer spots that are good. If you have ONX you can add a layer to see land ownership...if you don't have ONX check out habimap.org. This is a free tool that also shows land ownership. Hunting near water or tanks is usually a good bet especially early season. Areas around washes and spots right at the base of a mountain are common areas we find birds.
