Sounds a tad Eurasian/"Middle Eastern" in places-the first piece, as well as being a bit modern/avant-garde/intense/"darker". Also in the classical/pop ballad fusion arena (great general arena/ballpark for film/theatre/musicals, etc.). Pretty wide variety of music here, quite honestly... Then the Jewish/kletzmer band thing/some minor Slavic elements/aspects here...
Pretty high energy stuff overall... :-) You can hear Morricone's influence with the nature of the musical/theatre-esque melodies, the background elements "mood" behind each melody/piece, etc., also the percussion, the repetition of melodic ideas somewhat... That certain type of "emotional/epic" thing Morricone is fond of... The vocal intensity here definitely feels like more of a general Europe north of the alps/Central and Eastern European kind of thing, again, somewhere in between the popular and classical arenas-the vocal style being a bit closer to a pop style...
I'm a big fan of the ENERGY of the music of this composer. :-)
