This is great! Thanks. I’ve been meaning to transcribe this one myself. It just seemed so daunting. Perhaps I’ll set my sights on the ARU Compared to What solo instead. After learning this one of course.
Great work. I'm about 3 hours of practice into it and I still can't play the second part. So good. In an interview he says that he had been playing whole half diminished runs but had never written a song using it, so he wrote Scapegoat Blues...
It's really a tough tune! Actually, it's the half-step-whole-step diminished scale, but what's really cool that Jimmy points out is how much "Blues" is inherit in that scale. You have the Dominant 7th arpeggio, and 5 out of 6 notes from the Blues scale right in that scale. Realizing that makes it a lot easier to make that scale sound more natural in your playing. Definitely one of those a-ha moments.
Good ears! I started this transcription a long time ago, and if I remember correctly I didn't put that slur in because I was "simplifying" it for the purpose of learning the song. But technically you're correct, there's a hammer on from the 6 to 7th to 8th fret. 😉
You, thank you!!! Holy shit...you have no idea man. Just , awesome...
Thanks for this!
Thank you for putting this out there!

I always find Jimmy's playing daunting to transcribe - such an amazing player!!

That last speed picking lick is driving me nuts to figure out. If you slow it down it's still impossible.
Fantastic! Great job!

How did you decide on these fingerings for the head? Thanks!
Weird... there's tabs on my screen... but I still can't play it... can I talk to a customer service rep about that?
If you get through to them, let me know!
Missing the lead solo at 5-6 ending bars but perfect job overall! Thx for the help !
