I can argue Sauvage Elixir is value for money. 1-2 prays alone can perform beast mode. And if you hold back on the sprays it can be versatile. The smell is pretty much niche and does things different from the original Sauvage. I honestly just see it has a niche version of Sauvage. 100ml I don't see myself finishing the bottle. I can already imagine how much you have to over pray to get performance from creed.
Right I don't even like sauvage elixir the scent at least, however it is worth every penny at least the first batch that came out was as the oils and materials used in their were extremely high quality.
I got both and tbh the TAB of absolu aventus is way better than DS elixir its got more depth and is richer they are also way different so i dont get the comparison other than the fact that they both share a cinnamon note everything else is different however the 565$ price tag is way over the top for something that isnt limited edition but they deceived everyone to think it was for now its only released once a year but it will soon be a regular drop.
Commercially, what Creed (or its parent company) is doing is incredibly smart. There was no niche perfumery charging obnoxious prices and positioning itself as a brand serving rich people without taste but desperate to off their wealth. Creed wants to become the Balenciaga or Gucci of perfume industry, which customers are only interested in showing others how rich they are. I won't be surprised if Creed launches a new line with more than 1k for 50ml and marketing it in the same way Balenciaga announces a new 10k trash bag.
I think this theory is incorrect, mainly due to the fact that fragrance is invisible. At least with real luxury brands one gets to show off a name or a high quality product. Also, I don't think you understand the spending habits of the rich.
I think you’re spot on. They no longer can serve as a “premium quality niche” for middle class who saves up their a** to buy their product. Clones and some designers took that market away already. It make sense from product market POV to go for this level of luxury item instead. Low volume, high margin. What’s not to like as Creed?

I love a good rant! Would never spend that much on a fragrance, but I’m cheap (and proud of it). The most I’d spend on a fragrance is $200 CAD (approx $150 USD)
The first time I smelled a Creed fragrance was I was blown away by the quality of it, since I was a young boy I would steal solashes of my Grandfather cologne and my Dad's cologne, and have always loved colognes and trying new fragrances. But I hate the fact that I just can't afford to buy bottles of fragrances that a lot of people who are wealthy get to experience. But I've figured out that I would much rather when I can afford it to buy Ross and Chris and Aaron's fragrances than Creed. Colognes have always been a way for me to apply and actually transport me to a different time of my life or lift my spirits, It sadens me to know that there's probably fragrances that are out of my reach that could actually be so much more of aroma therapy for me. Thank you for a superb presentation. Kudos, sir; I wear (on rotation) three Creeds: Royal Oud, Aventus and Bois Du Portugal. I bought once Millessime Imperial (beautiful but lasts on me no longer than two hours), and Irish Tweed which I found to be nothing but a better quality Cool water .
Dior just announced sauvage elixr x baccarat. It’s a 500 ml offering with elixir in a fancy bottle with fancy lettering for the very affordable price of 6,900 usd . 😢
Damn this one still hurts. I lost my Pure Malt way back when it was 50$ a bottle, didn't think too much of it, procrastinated on buying a new one...Now I use my Pure Havane sparingly, knowing one day, there will be no more 😢
George, to explain more about my Veblen goods point, earlier. Why do people love to disrespect Guerlain? It's the oldest fragrance house with niche products, but why do people love trashing it? Because they have far too affordable prices, people automatically disrespect them compared to Roja Dove or Frederic Malle (like Frederic Malle is also an LVMH group brand), and Roja Dove even has plenty of Guerlain homage fragrances he sells for multiples of the Guerlain that inspired it. Fragrances are Veblen goods, for which the demand increases as the price increases, in apparent contradiction with the law of demand, resulting in an upward-sloping demand curve.
The only reason I can think of for charging that price is that very rich people want just a nice likeable fragrance but also the satisfaction of knowing that not everyone can afford to buy it. It’s like buying a hugo boss suit when you can have a better one tailored for higher quality and less money.
This is on the money. I think a lot of ppl get mad about prices of luxury brands, but dont realize that the price is for the exclusivity, not for the common
I agree 100% with everything george said. the man is one of the few reviewers who actually speak to intelligent people and people who are able to think by themselves!!
I got those apologist, and attack comments when I said that Modest Une by Afnan smells better than Sauvage by Dior. For me it is the final note. Dior uses American "cedarwood", which smells like pencil shavings. And Modest Une has a rounder, smoother, sweeter, vanillic, and balsamic cedarwood note. My guess is that they used Himalayan cedarwood.
In my point of view, bringing Absolu Aventus as a limited edition is a marketing mistake from Creed; for the asked price and limited distribution, as you said, price of this fragrance will sky rocket in reseller website. Clone companies will clone it, making the fragrance DNA more accessible for much less, and the brand will get $0 from these sales... It's not a good move at all, especially the latest releases are "okay" and you don't get the quality we used to know. Amazing detailed video, George
I love the smell of it. Sure it’s smells like a mix of Aventus and sauvage elixir but I don’t care lol. However the price is freaking ridiculous and not worth it. Also the bottle size needs to be atleast 100 if not 120. Come on creed!
Yes what was the name of that play with Oliver? 😂 Lol. Great video, George. I happen to love AA and so glad I grabbed a bottle. Worth every cent to me.

First George video I saw was when he was runing on some cementary and was forbiding to buy YSL La Nuit de Lhome Blue Electric. I both 3x100ml of it. So I willprobably buy this aventus.
Spot on bro…. Smell like a luxury Pine-Sol to me… when I tried my sample out for a few days I determined on my skin it’s of Aventus n Apex had a baby. Not for me I will stick with that older DNA. No newer Aventus or Absolu Aventus can beat that in my eyes.
I've had a pretty objective, unbiased and growing disinterest in modern fragrances. I can't figure out if it's from a false sense of nostalgia (I only think that old fragrances smelled better when I was younger), that I'm living in the past and have an old taste in perfumery, or from the lack of full bodied natural ingredients. The solution has been my new obsession with natural attars. Of course not I fra regulated, but something as simple as tastey vanilla using nice sandalwood as its carrier agent. Or frangipani in sandalwood. Or even just pure sandalwood- I enjoy that more than almost any modern fragrance
I've gone on a bit of a spree stocking up on vintage Gres, Dior, Guerlain, Chanel and Shiseido extraits. I crave those banned or restricted materials that provide so much dimension. Of course they're anything but simple, however, what do you think of Sultan Pasha Attars?
@hausacat haha Oops. I might bring them to market sometime but don't have plans now. I'll also think of a way to get around the use of banned materials with my own disclaimers
Funny story .... I visited selfridges manchester looking for a new frag I stopped at the creed stand having a browse and was informed by the rep that he can tell I liked my creed as he could smell silver mountain water projecting off me .... and he was mortified when I informed him it was cdn silage and cost £35 😂
I’m just now getting into niche. I was so excited to try Creed. I’ve heard so many good things about the company before I really got into fragrances. Now that I’m into fragrances I’m little sad I missed the golden age of Creed. I do have Silver Mountain Water. I think that’ll be the only Creed I’ll own in my collection. With Green Irish Tweed being a possible.
Get yourself GIT and/or Aventus, Aventus Cologne, Viking pre-Kering. Even BlackRock Aventus (F batches) are much more preferable to the current Creed lineup
I know it sounds cheap and fragrance enthusiasts will lynch me but hear me out: At least try out cool water, if you haven‘t and give it a full wear. I honestly find GIT redundant, as Davidoff still rocks it even today.
Best fragrance reviewer on UA-cam hands down . Always brilliant content “ I’d have a drink of whiskey with George & hang out if he ever came to Australia..
I ve had multiple bottles of aventus but i refuse now to pay i would rather now pay £15 for an arabic clone.. creed basically are saying we will add the name aventus to anything and up the price and guess what people will pay the price... who would have thought creed released flankers 8 years ago
I just bought my second bottle of Aventus. I have Aventus Cologne. All are 100 ml bottles. I would like to have Aventus Absolu, BUT not at $545 USD + 10% in sales taxes. AND, it’s only a 75 ml bottle!!! Fuck that!!! 🤬
As always, this was a delight to watch. Your candour is refreshing. I do wish Creed will find its way back to reality but I’m afraid they’re too far gone. Quite sad to see an empire desintegrate before our eyes and like all other failed empires it’s because of pride riding on past achievements and slowly loosing contact with reality. Thanks, George! Keep up the good work. This Swede is watching closely. Cheers!
Old Creeds were 75ml & 120ml. There was never a 125ml size. Now there's 50ml or 100ml, or like special edition Creeds like Absolu Aventus, then 75ml. Again, no 125ml bottles, they were 120ml 👍
I'd argue that the 500mL Sauvage Elixir x Baccarat edition that just came out for $8.2K is a MUCH more egregious pricing extortion than Aventus Absolu. I mean, at least AA is a new/limited scent, whereas you can just pay 8 grand a half liter of SE in a fancy glass bottle. Much love, Georgie!

@@thefragrancewriter Interesting . Do you make the components from scratch? Are you planning to bring them to market?
@hausacat haha Oops. I might bring them to market sometime but don't have plans now. I'll also think of a way to get around the use of banned materials with my own disclaimers
Funny story .... I visited selfridges manchester looking for a new frag I stopped at the creed stand having a browse and was informed by the rep that he can tell I liked my creed as he could smell silver mountain water projecting off me .... and he was mortified when I informed him it was cdn silage and cost £35 😂
I have got monkey Pox and it is absolutely horrible. This video put my mind on something else, so thank you George, great video!
Lol
What
@@chalmerelkins8965I actually meant to write chicken pox, but couldn’t be bothered to change it
I’m just now getting into niche.
Perfumes de marly impressed me way more. There’s some creed clones that are as good or better than the originals now.
@@Johnny_Utah187yea I like PDM for sure as well.
You have no idea how much I needed that laugh 👍
I tested it today, the dry down after 5 minutes is 95% exact to Armaf cdnim
Did George actually work for Creed?
Yes George actually worked for Creed. Was a sales agent in Manchester nearly 10 years ago, it was great, I loved it.
Check out the Hamidi Addicted Intense. It's such a fantastic smelling aventus clone.
What I don't understand that it is $545 in Australian Dollars... That would make it $283 pounds or about $346 US dollars.
Best fragrance reviewer on UA-cam hands down . Always brilliant content “
I’d have a drink of whiskey with George & hang out if he ever came to Australia..
Did you like ch men prive?
From start to 0:27……. Academy award nomination!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣. I love your videos. 👍
Bruv, you deserve far more subs. Your channel is a gem.
If I had to guess the actual juice in the bottle cost creed maybe 5 $10 max to produce.
No. Thats not true
Trains planes and automobiles inspired intro there pal? 😁👌🔥
