I can argue Sauvage Elixir is value for money. 1-2 prays alone can perform beast mode. And if you hold back on the sprays it can be versatile. The smell is pretty much niche and does things different from the original Sauvage. I honestly just see it has a niche version of Sauvage. 100ml I don't see myself finishing the bottle. I can already imagine how much you have to over pray to get performance from creed.
Right I don't even like sauvage elixir the scent at least, however it is worth every penny at least the first batch that came out was as the oils and materials used in their were extremely high quality.
Commercially, what Creed (or its parent company) is doing is incredibly smart. There was no niche perfumery charging obnoxious prices and positioning itself as a brand serving rich people without taste but desperate to off their wealth. Creed wants to become the Balenciaga or Gucci of perfume industry, which customers are only interested in showing others how rich they are. I won't be surprised if Creed launches a new line with more than 1k for 50ml and marketing it in the same way Balenciaga announces a new 10k trash bag.
I think this theory is incorrect, mainly due to the fact that fragrance is invisible. At least with real luxury brands one gets to show off a name or a high quality product. Also, I don't think you understand the spending habits of the rich.
I think you’re spot on. They no longer can serve as a “premium quality niche” for middle class who saves up their a** to buy their product. Clones and some designers took that market away already. It make sense from product market POV to go for this level of luxury item instead. Low volume, high margin. What’s not to like as Creed?
I love a good rant! Would never spend that much on a fragrance, but I’m cheap (and proud of it). The most I’d spend on a fragrance is $200 CAD (approx $150 USD)

@@adamme8369 I think if they want to charge £1000 for 1ml then they should. It's nobody's business apart from theirs. Nobody is forcing you to buy any fragrance, they're all well over priced including the designer ones, if we're judging it on how much it actually costs to make. It's the same with Swiss watches, they don't cost 15k to make, probably only around £300. You're buying the brand
I love the smell of it. Sure it’s smells like a mix of Aventus and sauvage elixir but I don’t care lol. However the price is freaking ridiculous and not worth it. Also the bottle size needs to be atleast 100 if not 120. Come on creed!
I love your passion in this video Goerge. I agree with you on all of your points. Especially the brands like Roja parfums, and fragrance Dubois, those prices are ridicules.
The first time I smelled a Creed fragrance was I was blown away by the quality of it, since I was a young boy I would steal solashes of my Grandfather cologne and my Dad's cologne, and have always loved colognes and trying new fragrances. But I hate the fact that I just can't afford to buy bottles of fragrances that a lot of people who are wealthy get to experience. But I've figured out that I would much rather when I can afford it to buy Ross and Chris and Aaron's fragrances than Creed. I LOVE the fact that you are speaking out about this. Great video Sir
In my point of view, bringing Absolu Aventus as a limited edition is a marketing mistake from Creed; for the asked price and limited distribution, as you said, price of this fragrance will sky rocket in reseller website. Clone companies will clone it, making the fragrance DNA more accessible for much less, and the brand will get $0 from these sales... It's not a good move at all, especially the latest releases are "okay" and you don't get the quality we used to know. Amazing detailed video, George

Great review. Creed is watered down their concentration and it’s so overpriced. I’d rather buy Armaf lattafa or any of the middle eastern clone houses.

Spot on bro…. Smell like a luxury Pine-Sol to me… when I tried my sample out for a few days I determined on my skin it’s of Aventus n Apex had a baby. Not for me I will stick with that older DNA. No newer Aventus or Absolu Aventus can beat that in my eyes.
I’m just now getting into niche. I was so excited to try Creed. I’ve heard so many good things about the company before I really got into fragrances. Now that I’m into fragrances I’m little sad I missed the golden age of Creed. I do have Silver Mountain Water. I think that’ll be the only Creed I’ll own in my collection. With Green Irish Tweed being a possible.
Get yourself GIT and/or Aventus, Aventus Cologne, Viking pre-Kering. Even BlackRock Aventus (F batches) are much more preferable to the current Creed lineup

If they sold Aventus at the $120 price point, they would have the market cornered. But even that, between the reformulations and staying power of some their offerings it isn’t worth it. I hope Armaf refines and continues upping their game in the following years. It truly is a statement.
I like George's Bukowskian approach with this review. However, I hope he doesn't lose himself for the sake of his art. After all, there's a fine line between genius and madness as we know. I feel George's over-the-top spin on bashing Creed's pricing strategy is admirable. The market will react appropriately, and creed will be placed on the dusty shelf next to Clive Christian and the likes. Godspeed my fellow lost children
It's mind-boggling that they would even release flakers before fixing the original creation but not surprised companies will do anything for easy cash grabs
The only reason I can think of for charging that price is that very rich people want just a nice likeable fragrance but also the satisfaction of knowing that not everyone can afford to buy it. It’s like buying a hugo boss suit when you can have a better one tailored for higher quality and less money.
This is on the money. I think a lot of ppl get mad about prices of luxury brands, but dont realize that the price is for the exclusivity, not for the common
Adventis prices are crazy. I will not buy any more Adventis i was a good customer but no more. Creed should be called Greed because thats what there brand is very GREEDY.
👏👏👏👏👏 well done , I can’t believe people are still buying this over expensive brand , why? Bloody hell there are great perfume companies out there that are worthy of our hard earned cash.
George, to explain more about my Veblen goods point, earlier. Why do people love to disrespect Guerlain? It's the oldest fragrance house with niche products, but why do people love trashing it? Because they have far too affordable prices, people automatically disrespect them compared to Roja Dove or Frederic Malle (like Frederic Malle is also an LVMH group brand), and Roja Dove even has plenty of Guerlain homage fragrances he sells for multiples of the Guerlain that inspired it. Fragrances are Veblen goods, for which the demand increases as the price increases, in apparent contradiction with the law of demand, resulting in an upward-sloping demand curve.
As always, this was a delight to watch. Your candour is refreshing. I do wish Creed will find its way back to reality but I’m afraid they’re too far gone. Quite sad to see an empire desintegrate before our eyes and like all other failed empires it’s because of pride riding on past achievements and slowly loosing contact with reality. Thanks, George! Keep up the good work. This Swede is watching closely. Cheers!
I'd argue that the 500mL Sauvage Elixir x Baccarat edition that just came out for $8.2K is a MUCH more egregious pricing extortion than Aventus Absolu. I mean, at least AA is a new/limited scent, whereas you can just pay 8 grand a half liter of SE in a fancy glass bottle. Much love, Georgie!
working at Creed currently and I agree, was disappointed with Absolu Aventus. It's a decent frag don't get me wrong but for £320??? crazy Edit: Cracked me up when u brought up the Sauvage hybrid comment 😂 that's literally the first thing that came to mind when I smelt it, smells like a mix of Aventus and Sauvage Elixir. I hope to highlight their other fragrances with my job as I think the whole Aventus line up puts a bad taste in peoples mouth for the whole brand as they still do have great fragrances
@@pwj86772Green Irish Tweed in my opinion is one of Creed’s timeless classics that gets much love from the fragrance community but not so much from the average buyer. When Aventus is such a dominant fragrance that makes Creed the majority of their profits it overshadows others in the brand that deserve some recognition. Virgin Island Water to me is still a fantastic summer fragrance that is a people pleaser and is a feel good blend. Royal Oud, while I can’t comment on how this used to smell as I’ve heard online that many say it’s changed(this goes with all the frags), to my nose it’s still a lovely scent that on my skin does last awhile with nice Sillage. Aventus Cologne, I’ve been recommending this a lot lately. I feel as though it’s a really pleasant everyday wearer, more casual and consistent in scent profile from my experience. It’s lighter and cleaner which you expect but still keeps it predominantly Aventus DNA. Of course the question always comes to mind, why wouldn’t you just buy the original Aventus? I feel like this is actually a better second option of Aventus than Absolu Aventus is since this is cheaper and switches it up with a fresh, cleanliness to it. Good option for the younger audience. Of course the prices don’t give these fragrances a good look as I don’t think £190 is worth it for 50ml or £210 if it’s the top sellers (Aventus, Royal Oud etc) I think Aventus has been a curse in disguise that’s really overshadowed other fragrances in the brand, really highlighted batch problems which although this isn’t inherently a bad thing that it’s become more recognised as customers deserve to know whether they’re getting quality or not through experience with older blends. This has had a big knock on effect where every batch onwards gets heavily reviewed and compared to previous releases from years prior. Which is why batches are so subjective within one another however when a new buyer is wanting to buy GIT for example they see online it doesn’t live up to yesteryears GIT that Green Irish tweed isn’t a good fragrance? I believe it still performs and smells great
If you can’t beat ‘em, join em. Got a bottle on discount that I probably won’t ever open and I’m going to see what the market’s like in a couple of years.
Honestly the most valid point is overpriced niche fragrance for a basic scent DNA ! Ive got a little bit over 20 year's collecting fragrances and honestly nothing has been put out in the past few year's that wowed me ! All just twists on other fragrances.
Value and scent is subjective. I find most Creeds are great fragrances that I find value in because I love the scent on me. I haven’t tried Aventus absolu yet, but if someone finds its price point on par with their feelings towards it,…then they can buy it.
When I heard about the price of this thing, it truly felt insulting. I dont think that people understand how important these videos are. If we buy anything for any amount, companies won't treat us with high quality products. From Creed I do only consider Original Vetiver and Royal Oud (all thanks to your reviews), maybe even Aventus. But I think that these purchases are going to be always pushed away, because there is so much more for much less. Thank you, George.
Yes what was the name of that play with Oliver? 😂 Lol. Great video, George. I happen to love AA and so glad I grabbed a bottle. Worth every cent to me.
'tis true. Its a bit..er..poor. They could have done something with it but they just swapped out the pineapple for grapefruit and called it a day. They could have recreated some of the really smokey birch batches and that would have been 'something' but they did essentially the least they had to do.
I got those apologist, and attack comments when I said that Modest Une by Afnan smells better than Sauvage by Dior. For me it is the final note. Dior uses American "cedarwood", which smells like pencil shavings. And Modest Une has a rounder, smoother, sweeter, vanillic, and balsamic cedarwood note. My guess is that they used Himalayan cedarwood.
Personally, i dont mind. I hate wearing a scent everyone is wearing and if everyone thinks it's outrageous to pay, it just means it's less likely i'll smell like everyone else. The sense of smell is the most memorable. It can bring you back to a time or place.
I agree with you George and I've been banging this drum for a while now. The same goes for Roja Dove which a lot of UA-camrs love to promote for free advertising. There comes a point where creed or Roja Dove aren't making the fragrances for 'you' (the average fragrance fan) anymore.. they are making them for strictly the wealthy.

Bingo Im that guy. Sounds pretentious but this is why I buy MFK Amyris instead of Chanel Allure
This is on the money. I think a lot of ppl get mad about prices of luxury brands, but dont realize that the price is for the exclusivity, not for the common
You recognize it and still do it…even worse.
Seems like I could just layer Savage Elixer with an Aventus clone & have almost enough to buy 2 more nich fragrances for the same money 😬
Adventis prices are crazy. I will not buy any more Adventis i was a good customer but no more. Creed should be called Greed because thats what there brand is very GREEDY.
Creed is easily cloned. I found and tried houses that copy Creeds for pennies! I'll just by the clones.
Great video and I enjoyed it and I'm going to get me a sample of it and have a blessed day
George, that walk you took is more appealing to the senses than Creed will ever be, and it's free. So beautiful ✌️
Thankfully I've already forbid myself or else I'd be in quite the conundrum!
This man has a unique way to review fragrances.
Not only will I buy it, I’m going to tip them 25%. Only seems fair
Cheers!
well said George - Also did you hear Jeremy Fragrance is running to be Chancellor of Germany?
🙄
The definitive Absolu review. Or is it Review Absolu?
I'd argue that the 500mL Sauvage Elixir x Baccarat edition that just came out for $8.2K is a MUCH more egregious pricing extortion than Aventus Absolu. I mean, at least AA is a new/limited scent, whereas you can just pay 8 grand a half liter of SE in a fancy glass bottle. Much love, Georgie!
He really put shit in perspective for me
Georgie fighting "Creed" like he is "Rocky" in the first movie
Hehehe I've been looking forward to this. Great video
working at Creed currently and I agree, was disappointed with Absolu Aventus. It's a decent frag don't get me wrong but for £320??? crazy
Edit: Cracked me up when u brought up the Sauvage hybrid comment 😂 that's literally the first thing that came to mind when I smelt it, smells like a mix of Aventus and Sauvage Elixir. I hope to highlight their other fragrances with my job as I think the whole Aventus line up puts a bad taste in peoples mouth for the whole brand as they still do have great fragrances
Green irish tweed is the only creed i can reccommend buying anymore.
@@pwj86772 Davidoff Cool Water smells pretty similar tho and its 10 times cheaper.
Of course the prices don’t give these fragrances a good look as I don’t think £190 is worth it for 50ml or £210 if it’s the top sellers (Aventus, Royal Oud etc)
I think Aventus has been a curse in disguise that’s really overshadowed other fragrances in the brand, really highlighted batch problems which although this isn’t inherently a bad thing that it’s become more recognised as customers deserve to know whether they’re getting quality or not through experience with older blends. I believe it still performs and smells great
Silver Mountain Water is still my favorite of all time.
SMW is a classic @@travisn346
I bought for £230 ordering in advance at duty free. I’m not a big fan of Creed but some part of me loves this.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join em. Got a bottle on discount that I probably won’t ever open and I’m going to see what the market’s like in a couple of years.
Wow so smart, for sure you"ll be able to live off of that investment for the rest of your life 🙄
Honestly the most valid point is overpriced niche fragrance for a basic scent DNA !
I love your videos man, you’re the absolute best.
I bought Absolu Aventus today, it’s great.
Please do a video on the new Dior Sauvage Elixir translucent bottle and its ridiculous price point!
It has been forbidden!!!
Can we buy the coming Clone, though?
I actually encourage it.
50k subs coming soon! Congrats George!!!
You have no idea how much I needed that laugh 👍
I agree 100% “They’ll buy anything”.
Best fragrance reviewer on UA-cam hands down . Always brilliant content “
I’d have a drink of whiskey with George & hang out if he ever came to Australia..
I tested it today, the dry down after 5 minutes is 95% exact to Armaf cdnim
I cannot wait for the great clones to come out, soon. Just to stick it to Creed and enjoy it for 10% the price.
