I'm 63 years old. I can barely write this cause my eyes are full of tears! There is nothing like the love of an animal or the obvious love that these kids will give to this dog for his entire life.

I am so impressed with their restraint and maturity. They weren’t having a meltdown but were genuinely sad about leaving the puppy behind. Then after getting the puppy, they were gentle and took turns holding him. Impressive!

Parenting done right! Wow! And the older one’s answers about the puppy’s personality and not just his physical appearance - high five to mom and dad!
Did you watch a different video? They were in full manipulation mode. Fake tears (that disappeared rapidly once they got what they wanted, as predicted) are the opposite of “restraint and maturity.” They’ve learned this response WORKS, and it did. I though the parents were being manipulative themselves, and frankly, that is a HORRIBLE way to teach kids about responsibility and decision making and whatever they were trying to do there, other than just screw with them for the sake of some stupid video. Why not have a mature, responsible discussion about the dog, what is required (the Mom admitted they were not prepared! Which is a bit scary for someone who is adopting a puppy.), what they will be expected to do, what kinds of things a puppy needs, etc. It could have been a great learning opportunity, and instead, Mom and Dad chose to manipulate the kids in the guise of “just wanting to see if they really wanted the puppy.” Really? What kid wouldn’t want a cute little puppy they’ve just seen who is up for adoption? That is no “test.” The whole thing was just wrong. If you want to mess with your kids and delay surprises, do it about a trip to Disney or the beach or Grandma’s, not about adopting a dog.

By now that puppy is a full grown dog who has played until she's dropped nearly every day of her life, has had all the food and love she could want. That dog has it MADE.

My son used to scare his mom because by three yrs old he was too smart for his mom too fool, he had been talking by 1 1/2 yrs and figuring thing out on his own so by two we were having pretty good conversations with him. he is an AP Student all his life.

Mark I am 61. My first dog was Black lab named Beau. He was a champion field trial dog. I was 10 when we got him. And I remember all the other and also we've had as pets. Dogs and cats and Turtles LOL

I remember the day a friend of my parents came and collected my pet bunnies, because he had a farm. Yeah! You all know what that means. Thanks to an older brother I cried myself to sleep for weeks.
This was EXACTLY how me and my brother acted 13 years ago when we got a dog. eventually, we got to our parents and we got the dog. years later, our parents thanked us because they really love the dog and realize we wouldnt have gotten it without me and my brother. the dog was unique, very chill, extremely small, playful, loved the couch, made a great lapdog.
That was heartbreaking! watching the little girls cry over wanting a puppy.

My dad at one point took me and my sister to look at puppies and we ended up not getting one for no specific reason but we weren’t upset because we didn’t get one and he surprised us with one of them later that day and I think surprises like that are fine but on the other hand, the children being physically distressed and saddened because of it is way different and unacceptable.
Never get tired of seeing this one pop up in my feed. Those tears of disappointment change to smiles and tears of joy instantly.

Imagine this dog lives a long and happy life. Many of the highlights of the dog's and children's lives are recorded by mom and dad, just like this moment. They grow older together. Then, as life dictates, the dog passes. Mom and dad put together a video of the dog's life for the now college bound girls to the sound of music (Yesterday? What a Wonderful World? Somewhere Over the Rainbow? IDK) and...at the end...the music goes off...and the family watches this scene , day #1 when this beautiful puppy entered their lives. Imagine the beauty of the moment in the context of the Big Picture of the dog's entire life.
I still don't think the Older girl will ever forget that you played with her emotions. She still looked pissed.
