Mob James spoke to VladTV about shooting his younger brother in the face when he was 14, explaining that he thought his brother was dead, but he thankfully survived. He went on to speak about his strained relationship with his father due to being abused from his childhood into his teenage years. Mob James explained that his father beat him repeatedly for no reason when he would come home, adding that one time he beat him so badly that he had to get stitches in his head.
James explained that his father's abuse was one of the reasons he turned to the streets and why he didn't respect his mother for not stopping the abuse. To hear more, including how his father's abuse led him to be violent, hit the above clip.

When he mentioned that his father was in the marines, and knowing the time of year it was, I kind of suspected that his father might of been abusive right then and there. Crazy how I was right.
People need to realize around the time of his childhood, parental & spousal abuse was pretty fucking common yet not talked about. Moreover, a black guy that was part of an organization that is essentially a cult, that was WAAAAAAY more abusive back then than it is now in its training, and teaches how to be a killer (every marine is a rifleman) but never teaches how to be normal again.
Not surprising that every thousand Marines beat their kids and wife. But the fact he came from a nuclear family and still ended up in a gang, figured it was something at hone like abuse.

My mom RIP used to say it was so sad my cousin would talk to my mom about how much he hated him and wanted him dead. My aunt didn't do anything because she was scared of him too. He also used to beat her but my cousin his younger son got treated like gold! Don't know why but he did and he was hell on two feet. I guess that's why the older one got into gangs and so did the younger one. When my uncle died he had a party to celebrate his death, and he was a grown man when this happened.

Messed up that he had such an abusive father that taught him nothing but pain and James felt like he had to give that pain back out. That's why it's so much mess. You put these teens together who have had bad parenting and you have a combustible situation. But shout out for James for turning it around.

I would have never expected him and his mother to have issues to that magnitude in their relationship (based on his interviews and things I’ve read) because he speaks so highly of his mother. May she Rest In Peace. I hate that he had such a tumultuous and traumatic relationship with his father but I’m glad he had Grandfather that was willing to step in and step up when he didn’t have to.
I grew up in a single parent home with my older brother and Tuesday-Saturday our mom would take us to school and from 3-10 sometimes 3-12 on weekdays our Granddaddy took care of us along with my Aunt since I was 8 weeks old until I was 17. My life would’ve, could’ve, should’ve been different if he had not step in and I’m forever grateful because he didn’t have to. I already have respect for Mob James for being so transparent when it comes to his life and for helping raise his grandson all while taking care of his mother!
