U cant really play handtraps or even non engine in this deck, its very similar to pendulums or infernity in that sense, all gas no breaks, Poetic justice in a way becuz actual samurai’s in real life dont use shields, becuz u need 2 hands to hold a katana/spear/bow and arrow
Your observation is very correct. A more modern approach would b to cut spirit, hatsume, squire, 1 cunning, 2 ascetism, united, enishi, shi en, shadow shien, apollousa (cause banned now) and dawn dragster. Instead you would play more kizaru, more fuma, more kageki, more shinai, more mizuho, diagram, mariamne, ravine, destrudo, ancient fairy and definetly MORE HANDTRAPS. No mixmatching between boardbreakers and handtraps. Gotta choose one. And handtraps are stronger in general. Then a modern list would run ftk, so your extra would need space for emeral, omega and cowboy. You are welcome :)

Why play 1 shinai + 1 mizuoh if you dont play infinite counters (because need 2 shinai) ?
You don't need to play the infinite loop. They're good cards at 1 as well.
Imo if your not going to do the infinite counters, then play 0 shinai and 0 mizuho
