- On today’s episode of Buckin’ Out we’re talking about starting from the basics of form, fit, and function when picking a deer hunting rifle for a beginner. There are a few tips we’ll go through when picking a deer hunting rifle for a first-time shooter to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
Sister Kristen is such a blessing. She's practical, easy to understand and knowledgeable. I'm a big fella and I would follow her firearms teaching and counsel with no problem. Keep it up Kristen!
Can't wait to see the rest of the series. Interesting dynamic.
Seth is lucky to have such a great teacher.
I don't know why but I've always really liked her delivery, I wonder if she write the scripts because she has such a straight forward way of explaining things.
She just knows what she’s talking about, I don’t think there’s a script. Seems like a very nice/smart lady
Absolutely
At a private range I worked at in OR, we invited the public to sight-in their rifles in the fall. $5 a rifle... good deal and always super busy.
But there was always a bunch of young guys in their 20s that came to sight-in a rifle or 2, that were 'helping' their girlfriends sight-in their rifle-gift... a 300 Winchester Mag with a muzzle brake.
The young ladies would take their 1st shot, no doubt shocked from the freight train punch in the shoulder, and the shock wave of the brake... and then stare into the scope for the next 10 minutes, never pulling the trigger again. I always felt so bad for them.
Guys, a gift of a rifle is a great way to enjoy hunting together but, buy her a rifle SHE will enjoy.
Thanks for the comment Tommy.
I dig the Seth/Kristin vibe. Can't wait to see more!
My first "deer gun" was a Winchester Model 94 in .30-30. I now use a Weatherby in .270. I wish I still have that .30-30 though.. Classic deer rifle..
Thanks for this very informative video, I'm in the UK and in the process of applying for my UK firearms certificate after which I will be looking for my first rifle so this is a great help, carnt wait for the rest of this series!
Glad you enjoyed it.
I heard the Wisconsin accent and knew she knew her stuff
Love single-shots.
Again madam kristen is crystal clear , very clear in her job , just like knife in the butter
Kristin's the best.
I’m new to hunting but not shooting. I’d advise a 7mm08 then a 6.5 cm. Personally I like 308s but they recoil more. Anything smaller than a 6.5 is too small. Imo
Thanks for commenting.
“Absolutely”

Glad you enjoyed it Mark.
I hunt in wisconsin to
The Savage 99 is better left with open-sights. Y'all know, for old time sakes.................
Where can I find the follow up to this one, where you tried them all out?
Good video.
I wonder how much a experience like this would cost
So what did he choose? And did Seth bag his first deer.
Oh, "buckin' out". I thought... never mind.
It's better not to let the kids over 12 years old to pick or choose I think. I don't want them to get picky just pick one up and get some food. Now thay can get everything and shoot good for hunting season.
Everyone I go hunting with for some reason some damn excuse comes up scope is not good enough pulls not right comb not good enough the triggers not good enough not don't used cheeper ammo ⁉️🤔 what🤨 I show them to be comfortable with whatever and use what you have. Me a $200 rifle and cheepes ammo can do anything. I've always had a used Jeep rifles for hunting when I was growing up and surplus animal my grandfather would drill a hole in the full metal jacket to make all the points to be legal for hunting in N.M.
If you are offered a 500 yd shot, GET CLOSER!!!!
Am I the only one thanks not a huge fan of the 99
