I really like this but i'm not sure what's the purpouse of this device, I mean you'd get 8x fast drives on some sort of zfs array, and hook it up to your home. But the purpouse? is it for doing SCSI on a homelab? what is it for lol
This might make sense if there was a connector faster than 10gbe, otherwise I can't see this making any sense if you're paying thousand(s) for nvme storage without the performance benefit.
I have no idea what the speed is. It sounds like overkill for a lot more money. Might be viable if you live in an isolated area or your cloud is some distance away. Dual actuator HDD are coming soon and might be a cheaper solution with near performance to NVMe's.
So....8 NVME's at 2 Tb each. Sure its fast, but 16Tb's in a single hard drive is way cheaper. Sure, a hard drive is slow, but it plays movies and music just fine.
Unless you are looking at drives above 4TB they should usually cost almost the same. If paying 5% more gets a theoretical performance uplift of at least a 1000% its hard to ignore.
They are almost the same price for enterprise or prosumer grades like WD Red or Samsung. And you are not limited by SATA bandwidth. Lots of people need this kind of access, like video editors and media producers. It’s smaller than a HDD or SSD version so it’s somewhat more portable and certainly more portable than a HDD version
That "you can only download 3 things unless you pay" is one of the funniest damn things I've ever heard.
The coupon is tempting. Populating it will be expensive though. Can’t wait for 4TB nvmes to come down in price
SiliconPower’s 4tb nvme drives go on sale around $200, which is pretty good bang for the buck.
Dude you are breaking my bank. Wife will not be happy.
That's cool and all, but too damn expensive.
Cheers 🍻

The photos app looks like a build of Immich, which is a typescript based photo gallery app

I would love to have one of these. Is it good for a beginner? And is it easy to set up?

Nice!!!
Terramaster. A company so bad, they ripped off Cooler Master's logo and used it as their own!
My opinion is that almost no one has a real need for a rapid NAS.
A NAS of regular SSDs going to be cheaper per TB (still not cheap though).

@@Matlockization coming soon is not the same as available to the regular consumer
@@andresnrivero I never said that 'coming soon' was the same as 'available to the regular consumer' !
Just pirate windows and office at that point instead of buying stolen keys
But you could stop using Microsoft products entirely since Linux and LibreOffice exists completely free or charge.
There’s plenty of keys available, you just have to know where to find them. 😜
The cake is a lie
