- This rendering of Raga Jaijaiwanti - khayal in madhyalaya teentala - is from the Sangeet Sartaj collection that pays tribute to the master vocalists Rajan and Sajan Mishra. These musical brothers are part of a 300-year-old lineage of khyal singing of the Banaras gharana. Starting from humble beginnings they went on to conquer the world of music with their talent. They were both accountants in a small shop when they gave a performance in the presence of Satguru Jagjit Singh. The Satguru, realizing their talent, offered to pay double their living wages in exchange for them to put in more time to practice their vocals. The rest, as they say, is history.

संक्षिप्त विवरण:-
इस राग की उत्पत्ति खमाज थाट से मानी गई है। इसमें दोनो गंधार और दोनो निषाद प्रयोग किए जाते है। जाति संपूर्ण-संपूर्ण है। वादी ऋषभ और संवादी पंचम है। रात्रि के दूसरे प्रहर के अंतिम भाग में इसे गया बजाया जाता है।
न्यास के स्वर:- सा रे और प।
संप्रकृति राग:- देश
आरोह : सा ध़ ऩि रे ग म प, नि॒ सां।
अवरोह : सां नि॒ ध प, ध ग म रे ग॒ रे सा।
पकड़ : रे ग॒ रे सा, ऩि सा ध़ ऩि॒ रे।
विशेषता:-
* आरोह में पंचम के साथ शुद्ध निषाद और धैवत के साथ कोमल निषाद प्रयोग किया जाता है जैसे- म प नि सां, ध नि॒ रें, किंतु अवरोह में सदैव कोमल निषाद प्रयोग किया जाता है।
* इसकी प्रकृति गंभीर है तथा चलन तीनो सप्तको में समान होती है। इसमें बड़ा खयाल, छोटा खयाल व ध्रुपद, धमार सभी शोभा देते है।
* यह राग क्रमशः दो अंगो से गाया जाता है- देश और बागेश्वरी। देश अंग के आरोह मे धैवत वर्ज्य कर शुद्ध नि प्रयोग करते है। जैसे रे ग म प नि सां , किंतु बागेश्री अंग के आरोह में कोमल नी प्रयोग करते है। देश अंग की जयजयवंती, जिसके बीच में कभी कभी बागेश्री अंग भी दिखा देते है, प्रचार में अधिक है। दोनो प्रकार की जयजयवंती में ध़ ऩि॒ रे , राग वाचक स्वर-समूह माना गया है।
* कोमल गंधार का अल्प प्रयोग केवल अवरोह में दो ऋषभ के बीच होता है, जैसे - रे ग॒ रे सा ऩि सा, ध़ ऩि॒ रे।
* इसमें प रे की संगति प्रचुरता से होती है। प रे में पंचम मंद्र सप्तक का होना चाहिए। दोनो स्वर मध्य सप्तक के नही होते। अगर पंचम मध्य सप्तक का है तो ऋषभ तार सप्तक का होगा।
* इसे प्रमेल प्रवेशक राग कहा जाता है। इसका कारण यह है की यह राग रात्रि के दूसरे प्रहर के अंतिम समय में गाया बजाया जाता है। इस राग के पश्चात काफी थाट के रागों का समय प्रारंभ होता है। इसमें खमाज और काफी दोनो थाट के स्वर लगते है। शुद्ध गंधार खमाज थाट का और कोमल गंधार काफी थाट का परिचायक है।
