Had some 'learn to draw' books from Ed Emberley as a kid - interesting technique they taught of combining simple geometric shapes to make more complex ones . Never saw this one book (or the cartoon), however. It seems like like a cautionary tale about mankind ignoring nature (which wins out in the end) in their pursuit of the folly of war, in which everyone involved is a responsible participant.
@@David-vn2id there is applicability even in kids books. Theres a purpose to having drawn the cannon at the end covered in vegetation abandoned. Or i guess it is just a non sequitur?
I'm 45 now, and I remember reading this book in first grade, a few years back I saw and bought it, I love this book, I hope everyone moved out of the way before drummer Hoff fired it off 💥💣
I used to read this book all the time in the Elementary School library 40 years or so ago. Such a beautifully illustrated book. My favorite illustration was the final shot of the cannon having sat abandoned for years after exploding. It was a peaceful scene that put me at ease.
Very good job dudes and well done!! Congratulations 995.85% yo throughout the 3rd sizzling patriotic week of said jubilant July y'all. If there is a deeper meaning to Drummer Hoff, I think it's lost to kids just looking at the pretty drawings like I was at that age. Superb work by 971 bonus points.🥇🏅🥇🏅🥇🖼🖼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I loved this short Although my only nitpick as a kid was how much they messed with the flowers and birds (but at least said wildlife made themselves at home with the remains of the cannon at the end lol)
Although I’ve never read the book, I’ve always seen the video. “Children’s Circle” & “Scholastic Video Collection” (retitled “Scholastic Storybook Treasures”)
This book gave me nightmares as a kid. Even now it makes me feel uneasy.

Dude, it's just a children's book. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...

The classical blame game if you think about it.
I remembered seeing this book at Barnes and Noble and on the children's show Sammy's Story Shop.
