Wowwwww!!! While one can practice for endless hours to develop technical prowess, the expression and the flow of energy from the soul into and out of the instrument cannot be taught.
Ah, one of my favorite pieces! I've been waiting for Andy to do a high quality video recording of this one. Thank you Mr. York! I really like this performance. It's a slower and more steady interpretation than I'm use to hearing, which makes it more intense. Nicely done!
When I hear this song it remainds me of early morning in winter, with blue skye and you can see the sun rise. The snow covers the whole town, trees, roads and the village. It's look beautiful everywhear. At the eavening when it's getting darker fast, I light up the candle and the sceene is just amazing. Life is beautiful and everything you absorbe has it's own beauty. Thank you for this song I will and have to learn this music, you inspirations is great. ❤💯
Thank you so much Andrew, this is pure magic. I just bought the score, and though the piece in itself looks "rather" accessible (technically speaking), it turns out that the musicality it deserves will require countless hours of work :-)
I've only ever heard flamenco "blanca" guitars with cypress backs and sides, so I was surprised at how balanced the sound of that Romanillos guitar sounds. Beautiful guitar, and as always, beautifully played.
I bought Andrews first VHS, I believe. It sunburst bagatelle and others, my favorite was Sunday morning overcast. This is has a very similar ambiance....
Spend some time figuring out the tension on 1:20. So diminished fifth step (at higher diapason) on top of major (probably suspended) A chord. Resembles the one at the beginning of "Kingdom come - What love can be". P.S. Also this disgarmony thing at the beginnig of "Pink Floyd - Big gig in the sky". Third chord. The melody upon the chord run across this diminished fifth. I'm kind of starting my dive into the world of music and music theory so that why I share my finding.
although I'm finally starting to get this piece, the original comment I wrote on the sheet music was: "and now we go from something nearly impossible (Cradle Song) to something even more difficult.

That's true, Joanna!
If God had a favourite music, this would be the one.
Wow. Now that's saying something.
My BP just dropped 10 points. Outstanding and one fine instrument.
Glad to help with the ZEN effect.

I still love these older pieces. Letting Go is another favorite. Please do that one. 🙏
Noted!
2:40am here in the Philippines and I feel sentimental with this music.
Brian, many thanks. A perfect time to listen to a piece titled "By Candlelight"!
I know any guitar sounds fabulous with Andrew playing, and maybe it's expectation bias, but man that guitar sounds GREAT!
Many thanks, sobellfanatic.
Pretty sure that’s a Romanillos ;) Holy Grail they are
@@kitharfiddleYes - it is - Andrew says so in his comments. It's a guitar called "Marian", named after Romanillos' wife. Cypress interestingly.
It's Sunday evening, a little coffee and cake and Andrew York "By Candlelight"...
5 STARS!

Now I want some cake and coffee too
