    I see many complaints, but I followed your instructions without a problem the first time around. The ring I made is not as straight as yours but I still succeeded in making it. I guess the finer parts will come only with practice. Thanks for this tutorial!

    One year and 36 comments and no one has mentioned your amazing butterfly wing fingernails? Those are awesome! Thanks for the tutorial, too. Did you glue the ends to make the ring a ring? I was expecting some kind of magical tuck at the end to join the two.

      @OrigamiattheSushiBar  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for liking my fingernails :)
      I guess you could use some clear tape to join the ends securely, I just have one side tucked into the other or open if your finger is wider than the ends.

      I actually came here to say nice finger nails. ... Okay no I wasn't, but then I saw this comment and thought to myself, hey I should comment nice nails.

    Yes! First try! Thank you so much for the tutorial💟. I've been wanting to make this for a while now and it turned out great!

    This model was originally done by Jim Churn of the Chicago Area Origami Society (CHAOS). I have been folding it since I started dollar bill origami and first learned it back in 1997. Your take on it is nicely done, but his version has a very tight lock on the band.

      Thanks! I saw a photo of a crane ring but it didn't have any instructions, so this is what I managed to figure out myself :)

      Rather impressive! When I first clicked on your video, I was expecting to see Jim Churn's ring and was very much surprised to find your original take on it. Good job!
      Andrew, you beat me to it!

    Can you turn any of the bird and water bomb base origami models into a ring with this crease pattern?

    • @OrigamiattheSushiBar
      @OrigamiattheSushiBar  7 років тому

      Yes, I believe you could. What a great idea! I'll experiment with some other basic models. If you make any, post them up :)

    All i see is complain about how fast this is. Im like I don't want a 40 minute to an hour video. Great video if people complain its to fast then memorization isn't there strong point.

    Very original. I like it! Since I love everything that has been done by hand. You are well done!

      +Creative Paper Thanks! I actually saw a photo of a dollar crane ring somewhere before, but it had no instructions so I managed to figure out the folds myself. Hope my how-to instructions make people happy :)

    Pretty cute outcome. My fingers weren't dexterous enough to fold the ring band cleanly. Nevertheless, still came out fine. It's an xmas present for my niece. Thank you!

    • @OrigamiattheSushiBar
      @OrigamiattheSushiBar  7 років тому

      Thanks, hope your niece liked the ring.
      You can crumple twist the ring band to make it round, or make a braid pattern, it's all good :)

    13:45 , it's right about here when I realize I'm totally lost and wonder how I had convinced myself up to that point that everything was fine . and it's not . it's not fine . . . ahhhhhh myyyeeeee headdddd beautiful butterfly wing nails

    • @OrigamiattheSushiBar
      @OrigamiattheSushiBar  7 років тому +1

      Hmm... yeah, it seems I do a lot of repeated smashing of the folds so they stay down, which makes it kind of confusing as to what I am actually doing. I should add text instructions. I wish youtube would let me edit my video, instead of having to post a new one :(

    • @garyschraa7947

      I totally agree about that . they've changed a few things as far replying to a post as well . anyways thank you Ms sushi bar . ( I really should stop trying to be humorous or at least reign it in a bit ) :-}> best regards

      Origami At The Sushi Bar - the law about “defacing money” is a ‘BLUE LAW-not enforced’ , besides it boils down to your intent.
      If you are not just ruining money, but making art. Go for it!

    What's the size of the paper?

    • @OrigamiattheSushiBar
      @OrigamiattheSushiBar  7 років тому +1

      It's 2.61 inches by 6.14 inches, but other long rectangles will work, the only difference will be the ring band size.

      I saw a photo of a crane ring someone had made, but it did not have any instructions. The hardest part was figuring out how to make the middle of the crane not so bulky. It took me a couple days of trying, and a lot of crumpled dollar bills. lol

      Yeah, the folds get very tiny towards the end. You can use a pointed flat nail file, or pliers, anything that can help you with creasing. Thanks for watching :)
