My guess is they are really afraid of potential sabotage from disgruntled employees, so much so, that they inform them only after all security measures are already in place.
Super scummy, and it implies guilt too, because a good company would not be afraid to part peacefully with it's workers.

DELL laid off an entire team mid flight back in 2007! The team had been flown out to, if I remember, South America to train new employees at a new location. It turned out they were training their own replacements! They landed jobless and were not allowed back on company property to retrieve their belongings, they had to wait for DELL to mail them to them.

Worked at Corsair for almost a year in Miami, until they announced moving their production to Georgia... with rumors that were rolling around for months that this was happening, but kind of gave us the news that we would be closing in about 4-6 months, pretty much Fall of last year. Reasons were pretty much, as it was alleged to me... lease was ending, not being renewed, too pricy to renew and the Georgia building (that used to be SCUF, another company that Corsair acquired) was bigger... and speculation from some upper management & fellow employees, that were not going to make the move, that minimum wage is much lower in Georgia than Florida... and in Florida we did have an amendment get passed that every year Minimum Wage will be increased by a $1, until 2026, currently it's $12 an hour... it'll be $13 later this year... so by late 2026 it'll be $15, while Georgia's is $7.25 with no amendments in the horizon looking to increase it. The move is being speculated besides the location being bigger, cheaper, it's also because they can negotiate with employees and new hires much lower wages and have more employees at one location... but also means much more new training and inexperience, and slip-ups in the short term. Most of the hands-on workers did not move to the Georgia location, just 'some' upper management... and some that work from home, mostly customer support and some IT as far as I'm aware when talking to lots of people during my exit.
...and my experience there hands-on and how the company operated in the Miami branch, in terms of management. It really felt like the company was being ran by Origin PC & Origin PC former staff (the culture apparently was no different and it was the same management & behavior as when they were just Origin PC at the Branch, because it was originally Origin PC before they buy out by Corsair), and my time there, we operated like we were a $10k company instead of multi-millionaire/multi-billionaire company... very deaf/blind to innovation... wouldn't listen to QAs very important quality suggestions... worked with some guys at QA that suggested for years about putting a draining valves on their Cryo machines to easily drain the liquid cooling, and upper management were unwilling to listen until Gamers Nexus blasted them out in the open in front of everyone that's when they decided to make the change, it's hilarious and embarrassing... very sloppily and management delt with a lot of stuff like throwing shit at the wall until it stuck as cheaply and stingy as possible... I'm not surprised hearing that their quality has downgraded over the years in the present time, when I've seen firsthand how we operated while there.... and the status quo of operation is to almost never break cycle or bad behavioral patterns of operation that have been forming for years... that have only contributed to the regression of the product and quality. They're unwilling to make big quality changes until something bad happens in the public, very reactionary.
Very corporate downward spiral as you would expect from companies as they become more bloated and have new hires or new management that weren't there from the beginning and are just thinking about the short term profit, instead of the long term longevity and success of their business.

Corsair is a key player and influence in the PC industry. However, instead of working with other PC brands to establish open standards that promote the interoperability of various PC components from different brands (which would drive down the cost of production for all brands), Corsair chooses a closed proprietary system in pursuit of maximizing profits. Ultimately, this traps and frustrates consumers. The trend, in the tech industry, of developing completely closed, proprietary "ecosystems" corrodes the health of the entire tech industry, which hurts everyone...including Corsair.

Every company says "the market is down" and "it's external factors". The market isn't down, everything corsair sells is so wildly overpriced these days that they get beat by smaller privately owned companies. Same with pretty much every other company selling tech hardware. They are all chasing that "permanent growth" through overpricing, cut throat cost-cutting and adding subscriptions to every little thing they can imagine.
Then it blows up in their faces but oh well "the market is in a decline i guess".

    • @benisrood

They are all bullies. When they say "we have lost (or down) in the first quarter" all they mean is from last year. What they did last year is related to what in the market? It's not so they are simply under the believe that a company is supposed to always have a great escalating year. I'd say that is complete b.s. to think that way unless the company is spending as much as it made last year. Thats where the concern begins...

You should add more colors to the solder mats, desaturated colors because bright solid colors as the background of what you are looking at can create eye strain and my eyes was only comfortable with the original color mat in this video. Being it will be the background for hours for some people they could be worse than a generic pale blue mat that's completely flat and less heat resistant. Just a suggestion.

Considering Intel has known about the likely issues with cpu degradation and failures for a while, one would think they would already have a change in place to distance themselves from this exact issue once it brews widespread distrust... hmm, like, if they already in advance were preparing to change their associated "iX" branding to "Core X" for example, to emphasize a large shift in hardware association. Oh wait a second
