I have to agree ~ the fluffy (aka hairy, bushy, or big) eyebrows trend isn’t my favorite. It’s not just because I plucked them almost bare during the late 90’s.... they look terrible on most people. 🤘

I love this look! When I was growing up people would try to use “freak” as an insult. My friends and I used it as an identifier, so weren’t offended. 😂
"Poser" was the insult of choice for the goth/emo/metal kids when i was in school. We would just laugh and ask if they even knew what that was!
I miss this look. My "team" at work are all kind of outcasts, if you will and i don't really have to be in the public eye, so i am really tempted to go back to it.
And then watch the look of horror on my kids' faces 🤣

That's exactly how I did eyeliner in 8th grade!.. and if I'm being perfectly honest, I basically still do it with brushes and shadow. 😂😂😂 there was no shadow and definitely no brushes 8th grade tho.

Looks great & brings me right back to my teen yrs (mid to late 90's) when skinny brows, black eye liner as lip liner & lots of black liner were the thing. I modeled most of my makeup after Robert Smith of the cure at that time lol. Also yes concealer was a thing but people only used it to cover pimples. Brow bone highlight was a thing but more often than not you'd see just straight silver shadow all over the entire lid right up to the brow! 😂😭😅 good times!

Yeh I remember that, athough I'm from the UK so no hot topic, but I was one of the nu metal kids at the mall and the Goths would look down on us and I didn't get it cos I wasn't trying to be goth, we didnt listen to goth or anything....
YES!! When I was a teen (mid to late 90's) there was really no other place to buy manic panic so my friends & I had to go to the mall to hit hot topic for that but would scoff at all the mall Goths cuz they weren't as cool. Ha! How ridiculous. 😅😂

my brows are permanently thinned out like that from plucking them so much when i was a teenager. Being a gen x original goth, this tutorial is like reliving my youth lol. I love it tho and have gotten back into doing my makeup like this. Also, concealer definitely existed back then lol

This was definitely the makeup I used to do in my teens. Especially with the finger smudging! 🖤 though I don’t think contour and highlighter really existed at this point... I did definitely have concealer though in one of those cake stick formulas 😂 x

I love this, the careless eyeliner is my sloppy polishing fav, those brows really suit you, i just grew my brows out fully and watching you do that made my face itch hahaha it made me want to grab my tweezers.

DUDE. Yes! I've been going down that road of Nostalgia big time. I was remembering a show that took place back in 2003 after finding an LP i purchased at that show. Makeup is killer & I remember sporting this or a black/green smokey eye. Time passes fast as fuck in your mid 30s. I wish I was still in my 20s too. Shit was fun & I didn't have to stress about hang overs. 😆💚

A way I've avoided the burn when doing my eyebrows is use a light face oil over the brow area and it really helps with the razor burn 😍🥰 btw you're gorgeous

Gorgeous look as per! Love that brick red shade!! And you know I like the thin brows too just as a change! I’m getting so tired of people drawing in their brows super thick and straight. It’s just not flattering in my opinion and makes people’s faces look a bit angular and frowny. Having a thinner brow, at the arch at least, just gives the face a lovely elegant lift. So nostalgic, very Amy Lee!! Love it. Pretty sure they did have concealer back then but I didn’t really know it was a thing for under the eyes till yeeeears later. Thought it was just for spots 😂 (of which i had many! 😂) I think when you’re young you’re less prone to dark circles though. Miss those days...xxx

Actually, yes, concealer did exist pre-2010. I went through my baby bat years in 1998 and there was concealer. I don't like that the products I used back then no longer exist nowadays, so now I'm just getting by on what I can find that's close to what I used way back when.

Shiiiiit taking me down memory lane. I used concealer back in the day but literally only to “cover” breakouts. It didn’t even occur to me to put it under my eyes, which didn’t really matter because they were covered with sweaty eyeliner and day-old mascara anyway 😆

I don't really remember the metal style makeup but the clothes I do back when I was in jr high. But then I got more into street punk, oi, hardcore so then it kinda changed. But I never really grew out of it fully. I'm just lazy in my old age is all . But back in my street punk mohawk/ chelsea feather cut for 15+ years days my makeup was basically all MAC. Specifically Studio fix powder foundation, no bronzer or blush at all then just a single shadow color but most importantly the big assed winged liner and perfect bettie type almost V micro bangs. But when I was young we really only had MAC if you were into makeup beyond drugstore.
Would be fun to do like full recreate my youth vids with clothes and all. Those massive bondage pants that if they didn't cover your shoes fully in jr high..then once I was into street punk I would have to actually sew in everyone's pants bc skinny jeans didn't exist then. We got made fun of for it and now can't find anything other than. And how I so desperately wanted a pair of TrippNYC plaid bondage pants but what punk kid has like 80$ for that.
But that's how I got into being a hairstylist. All the metal kids and punk kids wanted their deathhawks , trihawks, chealsea cuts so at lunch breaks I'd bring my clippers and do everyone's hair at whatever outlet at school we could find.
Sorry I'm rambling and now reminiscing too. Was better back then mostly because the local scene and shows here in northern California were just awesome then. Now not so much.
