If you did not see her show at ClubOne. You never went downtown in the late 90's early 2000's. That was the funniest, most chaotic group of individuals that got new (you know what) ripped in public. All in good fun. Hell today, someone would get offended.
Just watched it again....flawless brilliant movie . Great story..brilliant directing..John Cusack was perfect and Kevin Spacey had the best role of his career . Bless Lady Chablis for all the life she brought into this real life tragedy . May she dance with the angels..RIP
At 1:04, the "guy" that everybody was cheering for, looks to be W.W. Law. He was a member of the NAACP, in which he later became the President of the Savannah NAACP. In fact, he actually brought a lawsuit up against the segregation throughout the Savannah school district. Major deal in black history.
Jim HATED his sister Dorothy, which is why he willed Mercer house to his mom and not her. She only got it after her mother died. She makes me want to vomit, as she has NOTHING to do with the story or Mercer house. All she's done is let that that place into disrepair.

I worked on this film for a few weeks. Just for the record: Kevin Spacey was kind, and a perfect gentleman during the entire time; in fact, the only unsolicited flirtation I received during my time on the set came from Lady Chablis, LOL. True story ...
@@leftyla I was around 35, so, yes ... not his "type." I was way too old for his predilection for much younger men. During my tenure in Hollywood I happened to meet a young man (probably 20 years old) who told me of his time spent with Spacey a few years earlier. Much younger.
I was In Savannah last week and toured the beautiful Mercer House. They certainly don't mention the shooting very much - the emphasis is on the antiques and Jim William's restoration work,
Did you read the book? Savannah "society" only warmed to it once they realized it was something they all could get a little fame out of or make money off of. They detested the fact that their tawdry secrets were written down for all to see and were surely horrified to watch a transgender woman(!) become one of its breakout stars and an icon of Savannah. As for Ms. Kingery (Jim Williams's sister who owns Mercer House), she's made it very clear she doesn't think it proper to perpetuate such an "unfortunate" story (particularly the fact that her brother was gay and killed a hustler). I can guarantee you she'd never have invited any of the book's most popular characters into the house for even _this_ event.
And then you weren’t allowed to talk about the book or the movie or murder. Dorothy is always pleased to take money on behalf of her bothers fame while still disapproving of him 40 years later.
Berendt's reaction was hilarious; it's kighly doubtful Ms. Kingery would invite _any_ of the people depicted in the book to her party, particularly Chablis. Also, this reporter's mockery in asking all of the "socialites" if they're Lady Chablis to see their reaction is highly offensive.

I live in Dublin and Tybee/Savannah are my favorites spots to go. The house looks good from the road.
Jim woulda been better off leaving Mercer House to the historical society than it end up going to her.

This whole segment is pretty dated. The reporter was a douche.
That was cringe. She’s a legend. But hey two tears in a bucket…

Interesting reaction from the author of the book when he was told about the party at the Mercer House after the premiere, he clearly was not invited.
That was not nice of them not to of invited Him .
Did you see how JW's sister laugh when she was asked about the author? "I don't think he'll do that" What was that about?
