Because it's not as simplistic as your caveman mentality thinks. People think that just because the team fails to execute that it's somehow the fault of analytics. It's like saying you shouldn't wear your seat belt no matter what the analytics say because one time someone got trapped in their car by it. "See?? Your nerdy statistics about seatbelt safety failed!"
The clock simply rolls over from the OT fifth quarter to the sixth quarter. Clock is not a factor in the fifth quarter. Got that. But does the clock become a factor in the sixth quarter? Is it treated like the third quarter of the first half? Or does it simply roll over into the seventh quarter. This is all assuming the game continues to be tied. A go ahead score ends the sudden death OT.
When you have a great, an all time great like Mahomes or Brady or curry or whatever in the equation throw the analytics out! They defy odds and do improbable things all the time.
If u go second all you need to do is average 2.5 yards per run and you end up in the end zone...fullback and 2 RBs on a rotation all the way and the defence would be blowing like Tornado alley
Instead of an OT period, why not just do a FG shootout like in hockey? 😂….low key, I’d kinda like that lol, just move it back 10 yards at a time while alternating which hash it’s on until someone misses the FG
Without even factoring in that Shannahan was a moron for taking the ball, I saw last night as a complete and utter ass kicking in coaching, play calling and situational decisions.. 9ers coaching staff choked their collective lives away in crunch time and they pissed their pants looking over at Reid.. Who called a master class final drive to win it.. They played scared and to not lose instead of stepping on their necks and taking it like Romo said all night
SF decision to get the ball first in OT is valid. SF scored first and forced Mahomes to make a do or die fourth and 1. Came within inches of winning. No offense to Purdy who played well but he is no Mahomes. Purdy should not be put in a do or die must-score position. The team that gets the ball first obviously wants to score but it is not a must-score. All credit to Mahomes for being clutch in a must-score drive.
They are just looking for things to whine about...SF decided to take control, plus their defense was on the field the whole 4th..... If they scored a TD, then KC was forced to score a do or die TD..and if KC did score a TD..then all it took was FG to beat them on SFs next possession....the only thing that went wrong is they didnt score a TD...they had KC on a do or die 4th down wih they converted. This is just useless 2nd guessing
I understand Felger has an agenda and Shanahan's comment about it being a group decision feeds into that, but the argument for kicking first is analytics-based too. At the end of the day, the players on the field need to make the plays. Once ATL's drive ended with 3, the defense knew what they had to do to keep the team in the game.
As somebody once said you play to win the game. So why can’t coaches do that and not listen to some nerd in a cubicle punching numbers

Let’s be honest. If SF deferred, KC scored, SF scored, and KC kicked a field goal. They would be second guessing the call and blaming the egg heads.
Nothing to do with the Nerds. The 49ers defense was GASSED and needed the rest. Still didn't work though
Rules were fine the way they were before too many people whined about it.
If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice-Rush
After watching the game, Felger has won me over about the nerds.

San Fran's defense had been on the field the most of the 4th quarter, maybe he wanted to give them a breather and take the ball 1st
they didn't factor that in to their decision. shanahan said he deferred to the analytics. just ran some numbers

i sure hope the next time mayo's patriots make the superbowl it's not a loss to kyle shannahan's 49ers.

What would had Bill B or Nick Saban have done? Boy these offensive coaches........shanahan aint run the ball at all in 2nd half......
Don’t you want the ball first in OT?
New OT rules bruh are you paying attention? Lol
not with the new rules. its basically like baseball innings where if you go second you can "walk off" with a fg or td
@@TheTruth0401 duhhhhhhhh
@@domd9837 kc needed td to walkoff
@@tinhinnh you're the one who asked dummy 🤣🤣🤣
The new rules are stupid
Patrick the Plankton…. Haha
Even if kc gets the ball first, they’d score a td anyway 😂
San Fran would still get the ball to try and match.
oh gotta have an offensive minded shanahan.
Get Bill back in here!!!
