    Dr. Claire Weekes calls this the “second fear.” In other words, we cannot control the presence of the first fear sensations. Those are automatic. The second fear comes in when we react to the first fear. How we respond to the first fear determines whether or not we feed the second fear and is under our control.

    I pushed fear down my entire life to survive (trauma) and thrive (career). It worked. Went numb to feelings at some point. I’m beginning to face those feelings now. It’s hard work. It’s scary. But I believe it is THE work. Im convinced my body will feel fine once I face and allow fear and other emotions as passing. Not something to be stuffed down. It will pass. But in the meantime really facing your fears can be real freaking scary! I just keep reminding myself I’m in a safe place now. Getting there…

    • @jim8779
      @jim8779 3 дні тому +2

      I've processed a lot of repressed emotions in the last 2 years, often doubting that I could really get past my mind/body symptoms. However, now I'm starting to really understand on an emotional level that the symptoms I have are not dangerous, so I'm much less afraid of them and thinking about them less and less as days go by.
      So, I agree, that learning to better accept my emotions has been crucial for me. Learning that they are not dangerous, that they will come and go if I allow them to. It is a process though. But now I feel much more confident that I can rewire my brain to stop the symptoms. I feel like my logical/thinking brain is coming back online, so I can better respond to my fears and other emotions.

      @@jim8779thanks for your reply. ❤ I’ve been through a few rounds of ‘peeling the onion’ of my trauma brain with a great therapist. It’s very layered! I’m hopeful I’ve gotten to the thick of it now and I’m working on the balance of allowing fear yet knowing it’s not dangerous. It’s nice to explain this to someone who’s been through it because otherwise I’m sure it’s impossible to understand! It’s very difficult but important work. Congrats on getting to the other side! I’m feeling good I’m headed that way. 👍

    I imagine driving, taking a wrong turn, and in stead of hitting the breaks, stopping all the traffic behind you, making an annoyingly difficult turn in the middle of the road, you instead keep driving, and take another right turn in the direction that you wanted to go, it might have been a detour, but you will get there eventually. And more smooth than when you hit the breaks in the middle of the road. ❤

    I am so proud of you writing & completing the book!! 🫶🏻 You keep on being the greatest help as I discovered that the process of overcome the fear & pain goes in stages. The danger changes, the danger becomes less & less dangerous! The perception changes if you understand what really goes on, misinformation, but truly old information, that tries to prevent something that only happend in the past. What lies beneath it to nót consider it as temporary? The last stage. I feel new impulses and … especially the so wanted freedom. Thank you so much and best wishes for the new year and your book!! ❤️

      I had these symptoms that subsided with doing the mind-body work. I even healed from having PMS, “Hormonally” caused IG and skin issues and Menstrual Cramps. They were all TMS because I heard somewhere that “every woman gets them” when I was young and I thought it was a natural thing to be in during my cycle. It was all TMS and I don’t get them anymore. Pay attention to when you get acne. Acne is a big TMS condition too because a lot of people report getting break outs when they’re stressed.

    The fear comes from self talk. So if you're going to talk to yourself anyway, tell yourself I feel great, and I wonder what great thing is going happen in my future.

    • @kateking3953
      @kateking3953 3 дні тому

      There's an interesting conversation in the Guardian (British) today about inner dialogue. I've never 'talked to myself' in my head, or had inner dialogues going on, and I see from the conversations that many others don't either. Those who do say they can't turn them off. Those who don't, like me, say they're very visual in the way they respond to the world. This may be why for me, talking to myself isn't something that works. Visualising something works a lot better. As I consistently say there is not just one way that fits everyone, because we're all so very different, and respond to our lives and our challenges according to who we are.

They do say you heal, but are afraid of everything and the sxs are both physical and psychological. Akathisia is one sxs they claim is a brain injury. Feels like terror. What if you have a symptom or condition that needs a med, in addition to TMS symptoms. Does the necessary med confuse the brain about the TMS symptoms.

    • @kateking3953
      @kateking3953 3 дні тому

      If you need medication for something, take it. Your brain is not such a simple organism that it can't cope with medication and your thoughts. It's been running your body for the entirely of your life, keeping your heart and lung and bladder and bowels working, sorting out bacteria and mitochondria and electrolytes. The concept of 'talking to your brain' makes it sound as if there's some person living in your grey matter who's going to have a hissy if it doesn't like something. Every time you life your hands to type on here, or stand up, or put on the kettle, your brain does that. It's not going to be confused.
