Hi Dane, passed my test recently thanks to your videos! super helpful. I was thinking another good idea for a video could be around theory questions you get asked on the day of the test. I was asked "how would you know that your handbrake is working correctly" and "what is the minimum thread depth on tyres" and a few more finicky questions along those lines. A few of them caught me off guard so could be useful to help prepare others in advance of their test. I know the theory questions on the day aren't worth a whole lot but just an idea for ya!

I’m an Indian DL holder for last more than 11 years, and passed my Irish driving test at Dun Laoghaire / Deansgrange today on the 08/08/2023 with perfect score (only few Grade 2 under progress) and nothing else. This is all because of the bestest instructor in Dublin, DANE TYGHE. I’ve watched all your videos and your review of failed reports helped me a lot to clear the exam on first attempt. Thanks! PS: Maybe you need to emphasise more on blind spot check while turning Right/left or on traffic lights or changing lanes, in your videos. If you check blind spots at junctions, roundabouts and traffic lights you will fail your test. The reason I don't show blind spot checks in this way is because it is wrong and dangerous. A good driver needs to be looking ahead and focused on the road ahead and not looking behind. A lot of people from the Indian subcontinent have these weird and bizarre misunderstandings about driving and I will explain more here - ua-cam.com/video/F3QrXo5078M/v-deo.html Did someone tell you to check blind spots at junctions, roundabouts and traffic lights? Why would you do something that would be guaranteed to fail you? It doesn't make sense.

And their tester said you didn’t check blind spot at junction. There are many other video channels who also mention that 90 degree shoulder check before final turn, which i never saw on your videos. If you mean looking left and right then that is clearly explained and demonstrated in any video I do on junctions. There's no such thing as a 90 degree blind spot check and I'd say you're slightly misinterpreting what was said or meant. This channel is in relation to driving in Ireland so there may be different ways of doing things in other countries, as a driving instructor who has 15 years experience and has spoken to many testers and supervisors I can assure you that they have never in all my time mentioned a 90 degree blind spot at junctions. But then again maybe I'm wrong and maybe I'm missing a trick.

Btw, just a question about applying for the full Licence for the first time - on the ndls/rsa website medical questionnaire form the 2nd question is: 'Do you need to wear glasses or lenses for driving? (If yes Code 01 will be added to your licence) If you are applying for a first time learner permit, exchanging a licence from outside of the EU or, if in the past you answered 'Yes' to this question and are now answering 'No' you must provide a current eyesight report with your application. When I answer 'no'' this box pops up : 'In order to complete your application you must provide an eyesight report within 10 days.' But I've never required glasses or lenses so never answered 'yes' to this previously. I do recall having to get an eye test when applying for the 1st learner permit a few years back. Somewhat confusing, on the one hand I shouldn't need an eyesight report according to the above, yet the system seems to require one for my application to proceed. 🤔

I am doing my test again in north dublin. Although I try hard to follow all the rules. I find dublin so chaotic now, which has me having to react to quick yo have observed it ahead of time. We now have cycle lanes with lights. About 1 in 100 cyclists stops for them. There are multiple hazzards at the same time. I feel that this is unfair to us in dublin and unrealistic to follow many of the rules Buses at UCD now park at a stop infringing on the traffic lane. There are continious white lines beside it. What are you supposed to do, when pro's are abusing the road. They also fo u yurns here in dublin bus cars. One hit someone alighting a bus. It is crazy here.
i kept getting a load of grade 2s on "turning right" which caused me to fail and it took 2 tests for anyone to finally tell me i had to check the blind spot when turning right, like if theyre going to make me wait 6 weeks at a time and charge 85 euro itd be nice if they atleast explain what i did wrong

Hi Dane. I just wanted to ask how often I should check my blind spot in the test. I recently failed my test because I was checking my blind spots at junctions, apparently this is wrong (grade 2) and my examiner said I should only be checking my blind spot when driving off from parked.

Oh sweet Jesus, I think you need to find another instructor. Check blind spot moving off from a parked position - that's it more or less. Changing lanes you can give a very quick sideways glance... Check out my most recent video uploaded today.
Have my test next Thursday at 8:25am, I picked that time because I wanted to get it out of the way as early as possible. I feel my town driving in general driving is good, need to work more on the manouvers but have decided not to do pre tests or mock tests, I just thought if I fail I can then work on what I failed on with my instructor to hopefully pass the next time. Oh and one question: I tend to have my right hand on top of the steering wheel and my left hand on the left of it as I find it to be more comfortable for me, does it matter with to placement of your hands on the wheel as long as you have both hands on it? That is the complete opposite of what I would advise - you should get lessons and prepare as well as possible, don't use the driving test like some sort of mock box ticking exercise. Hands at a quarter to 3 on the wheel.

If you got the eyesight report previously then you don't need it now. Best to contact them directly if you're unsure.

Depends where you are on the reverse. You can be a bit wide in the middle part.

You will not pass the test with just 12 lessons, you will need to be practising!
