- In this video, I am using my micro fishing setup and 4 lb line to target some of the BIGGEST BLUEGILL EVER!
The coolest part about fishing for panfish is all of the crazy variety and hybrid fish you can catch, which is shown in this video!

Crappie is my favorite catch and my favorite fish meal

One thing I am glad to see is that you turned the big males back to the pond. The spring and summer are very important times for the big males. They protect the nests from predators, and even other males. To take all them off the nest, ends the bluegill and red ear protections from the hatchlings. Keep up the fun by catching them, but please turn all of them back. The future of the small fry depends on it. Thanks. Looks like loads of fun with the right thing

Serious jumbo pigs for real! All summer long I fished only bluegill and what a tasty fish. My record is 11" 1/4 so not quite a foot long. What's the longest true bluegill you've seen in person? I know the hybrids can get even bigger, but I mean the real McCoy thoroughbred. Great job by the way!
I think the longest I’ve seen is 12”…. Anything over 11 is absolutely massive

Back in the day we woulda had them bad boys in the grease for supper . Nowadays its 100% catch and release ! Just not as many fish like that as there used to be , plus I hate cleanin fish ! Awesome video , really enjoy the channel 👍👍

The last one was a green sunfish hybrid as well I believe, those yellow fins give it away! And the blue by the mouth!

That one you called a hybrid gill, looks like it was crossed between a green sunfish and a regular gill, I used to have a farm pond that me and my buddy fished, long time ago, but it was full of those “hybrid type “ sunfish. We’d catch them on the old Beetle spins, I think those were Johnson’s beetle spins, they were absolute dynamite though In just about every farm pond, mainly the black, the purple one and chartreuse ones. Individual blk, or purple or chartreuse. The Ol rooster tails wasn’t too bad either, in farm ponds. Especially the yellow ones or chartreuse ones.

Looks like water levels are up! I seen this hole in a previous video on these awesome Blue Gills! I love this dang good eating and a safer fish to eat in general. Fillet and have Frye’s with hush puppies on the side!

Not that big. Normally big bluegill don’t mean big bass. The bluegill get too big too fast and the bass can’t eat them.

You should take a trip to North Sandy Pond in Oswego county New York. Fishing there is phenomenal especially through middle spring to early Summer. There are so many species of fish there to catch. There are massive gar huge carp large and smallmouth bass several types of catfish northern pike pickerel Pike muskellunge Pike walleye Pike every type of panfish you can think of a couple types of perch and the list goes on to about 35 other species. I personally caught bluegills the size you just pulled out of the water. The biggest crappy I've ever seen in person or on a video I caught out of Sandy Pond. There's even sheep head in it.
You think mutant sunfish is fun on ultralight spin gear, you should try'em on a 9 foot 5 weight flyrod. Don't be tempted to drop to a 4 weight because there's usually bass cruising around bluegill beds and a 20" bass on a 4 weight is just too much of an argument.
Fishing for bluegill and crappie brings me back to my childhood. Crazy catches Ty! Those are some massive bluegill right there! ✌️

Never got bluegill that big but I've got big crappie never weighed them but for crappie it's hard to find some that I've got
