I reshot this video for a clearer understanding of the issue. I apologize for background noise during the Voiceover section and hope the point gets across.
One of the most excellent repairs I have seen and used. Thanks a lot . I removed the coating over the magnet, drilled a hole pushed out the old magnet and stuffed in a new one, applied hot glue and it works great now. A real cheap fix buddy.
THANK YOU!!! While under Best Buy extended and after numerous service calls during a six-month period, they claimed it was fixed. But I kept hearing that noise and noticed dishes on the bottom were not getting cleaned. I put my camera in the dishwasher and saw the same thing. I found just the magnet Samsung DD97-00395A Plastic Magnet Support at Virginia Service Supply. I pulled out the waterfall sprayer and to my surprise, the magnet was not even installed. I installed the magnet myself and like magic, it Works!
Thank you so much! I had the same problem just for today and actually found a local spare parts shop that sold this exact magnet spare part! Saved me an expensive diagnostics and repair circus with samsung.
The repair man wanted $600 to fix my dishwasher. I put some magnets on the arm and it fixed it. Total cost $6. I don't know who you are but I think you might be some sort of angel. Thank you!!
I took the red gel stuff off the top of the magnet to test it. Ran a diagnostic cycle and the dishwasher worked fine. I ordered magnets to replace them in case it fails again later but thought I would share as it only took 2 minutes to diagnose. Thanks for the video!
Did you ever make the next part? How long did your fox last? I just replaced the waterwall motor assembly and not my waterwall goes front to back but it appears to try to keep going back further for several seconds when it gets to the back.
So we have a Samsung dishwasher. A different model then your. But we noticed an issue with our water wall. We called Samsung and the phone technician only knew to shut off the breaker and turn it back on. Then told us if we need a technician to come over to text him. So I started the Google search. Up come your video and I think sure let see what the honest dad has to say. Long story short you sir are a very smart man and helpful to the rest of us. Now we know how the lower water wall works. Where the magnet is, how to remove it! My husband is much less grumpy knowing that we could fix this ourselves.
Thanks! My dishwasher was making a noise. I had figured out that the detached waterwall was the problem, and I could even see the notch where it was supposed to hook into, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to snap into place. The 45 degree angle was the tip I was missing. I had to hold my fingers against the bottom part I was I snapping the water wall on to, but combined with the 45 degree angle trick, it worked like a charm! No more noise.
Thank you for this video! I have same washer, it had the same problem and you got me thinking of a simpler solution. I purchased a pack of 3/8" X 0.060" rare earth disk magnets at the hardware store, they cost less than $5 for a pack of 12. I took out the bar, snapped one disk magnet on top of the existing magnet, put the bar back in, and the problem is gone! The new magnet is stuck so hard that I can barley pry it off, so I doubt it will ever drop off on its own. Just be certain to use a thin magnet, because the first time I tried this the magnet was 1/8" thick and it was to big to work correctly. Thanks again for the idea!
Jack D My original rare earth magnets eventually corroded to the point where they dislodged. As I learned it was a bad choice of magnet. They do not do well with heat and moisture.
@@honestdad8944 - Did you by any chance find a solution that lasted? I believe that my dishwasher is having the same problem. I it only 3 years old and I really don't know what to do at this point. Thank you!
Hey brother! Thank You. I have the same dishwasher but mine tried to start and in a bout 20 sec in it would beep three times then blink three times. I was pretty sure my dishwasher had the same problem as your s did but I wasn’t sure so I called Samsung and talk to a person who troubleshooted the problem to be in the waterfall slider. So I went to hobby lobby and found a couple of strong magnets and glued them in just like you did and it is working again!!! Thanks for posting this and for saving me loads of time and money!
Hi and thanks for this video and also part 2. I want to get a magnet before I start taking things apart. Do you, or anyone on here, know the size of magnet that fits? 40x20mm seems to be the most available but I’m finding 50x20mm and a few others. Thanks! PS: I’ve had problems with all Samsung kitchen appliances. Never again.
Bought all Samsung appliances 4 years ago, they have all broken and cost me hundreds of dollars to keep running or fix. Fridge water dispenser and ice maker, microwave door, dishwasher water wall, oven thermostat. I will never buy another Samsung product as long as I live.
Hey Honest dad, I have a DW80M9550us that the 5c code came up, which is pump clogged! I’ve checked filters, drain line but to know avail think it must be in the pump! Do you have any experience getting at the pump on one of these beasts? I could really use some help! Thanks
I have replaced the magnet with a new factory replacement waterwall still doesn't work. What can be causing this issue. All help would be greatly appreciated TY.
Just used this fix on mine. That red piece the unscrewed contains the magnet but you can easily pull it out of that plastic shell. So I removed the factory magnet and put in two 1/8 thick by 1/2 diameter rare earth magnets in that sleeve without any epoxy or anything because that red part contains it. After reinstalling I had to hold my finger on the start button for 3 seconds to reset it before starting a new cycle. Didn’t work without resetting. Hope this helps and saves you some money.
What model number is that? Mine is DW80J550US and my waterwall doesn’t have that magnet thing that unscrews under it and doesn’t even have a place for it to screw in. Maybe it fell out, but I don’t see where it screws in.
@@karao7831 I did end up figuring it out. I can’t remember what I’ve posted above, but I will say that after putting my phone in a glass container and running in the wash for half cycles, I discovered the motor for the water wall was not working. I replaced the part for $140, but then had the problem with the water wall would go forward and then just go back and try to keep going back and not recognize that it had hit the back of the washer. I bought a magnet which I saw somebody suggested online in a video and just stuck it underneath the water wall, or I should say it stuck by itself because of the magnetic field. It’s been working fine for a couple months until just the other day. I then looked at the magnet and so it was all corroded so I put another one on it and it’s been working fine.
@@karao7831I stuck the magnet under the gray piece on the bottom of the water wall. Then when the water wall went back the sensor detected that magnet and then bright the water wall forward. I can post a link to the magnet I got if you’d like. It took ordering a few to find the right size.
If the magnet sticks to the fridge does that mean it is still operational? I fixed the waterwall motor like in the other video but now the waterwall either moves to the front or the back but doesn't know when to stop. Just keeps skipping on the track.
Mine would stick to a metal surface as well. But it’s not enough to make the sensor. The magnets aren’t suited for high heat environments and loose the strength.

I spent about 3 hours and I think it's either my magnet or my motor. The water wall moves but not as fluid as yours does. It goes really slow and looks like it's struggling. So I'm going to try the magnet but if that doesn't work I'm going to get a new motor. Thanks!
@honestdad8944 how fun I can see my motor moving yet I still get the error I even tried a bigger magnet. Maybe someone said my motor is getting water in it and shorting or the sense by the motor is broken that they don't sell separately

hey @honest dad thank u so much for the awesome video and inspiring me to dig into this issue! i have a DW80M9990US and it recently started giving me a grinding noise, when i put the dishwasher into diag mode, error code 7c results. i have reset the dishwasher and moved the water vane to the back of the dishwasher and still no luck. further we had a samsung tech come out and replaced all the parts u highlighted, vane motor, pcb and finally wiring harness. i recorded the vane motion inside. when i pushed the vane to the back of the dishwasher next to the jets and started the diag mode. unlike your vane going from back to front and vice versa, my vane just goes to the front and grinds until the diag is complete. i also bought some magnets and stuck them right on top of the original magnet without luck again. any thoughts as to why the vane keeps bumping into the front please?
I’m sorry I don’t. I have came to a conclusion and it’s a painful statement. Chuck the washer in the yard and buy another. Since this video my upper sprayer stopped working. When I manually add water to the dishwasher and try to start it, I can hear the water draining into the disposal, so I don't think that's the problem. Any other thoughts?
Steven Davis Honestly you need to see what’s happening inside the washer. If the washer doesn’t see the Water Bar or know it’s location it will not spray water from the jets in back. That water spay hits the bar and washer the dishes in lower rack. If your Bar carrier is not moving at all then it’s either the motor or the PCB board. Either way your gonna have to see what happening inside like I did.

My problem is the water wall bar is falling off at the front of rail. So then trolley just goes back and forth with no bar to deflect the water up. The dishwasher is only two months old. I see nothing wrong with the bar or the trolley. If put it back on it works for the test that occurs at the beginning of the wash cycle but once the water jets are turned on it falls at the front of the rail. It doesn’t snap on the trolley. It is up gravity to keep it on there and I think the water pressure is high enough to lift it off when the trolley reverses to the back of the dishwasher. It is an asinine design. The warranty repair guy is coming in two days. It will be interesting to see what his explanation is. I am sure they are told to lie about it. Problem is I’m an engineer and I can see why it doesn’t work. The design sucks! We already had the auto-release mechanism replaced two weeks after getting the dishwasher. That has stopped working again too. We are going to open another ticket after the water wall issue is looked at. We are working on getting it lemoned so we can get a refund. Otherwise they will be paying for service calls every month for the next 10 months.
Hello @Honest Dad, I believe your issue is the carriage and water wall are not connected completely. You have to press them together until you hear a click. In your video the carriage at second 3:40 deflects upwards as apposed to downward like it is supposed to. If you watch this video ua-cam.com/video/3py7fK2m9Gc/v-deo.html at second 0:27 the carriage and water wall deflect downwards as apposed to upwards like your wall did. I believe your sensor is not making correct contact because of this issue. Kyle P in Part 2 pointed this out and I did some more digging. Hope this helps.
Bro you are rock, I have linear dishwasher for less months and have this noise and figured out that something with waterfall system. And guess what?!? It wasn’t proper install, so I just clicked and that’s all!!!! Thank you
Just GENTLY pull the carrier along the support bar about 6" from its home position. It's pretty tight so don't pull too hard or you'll have a bigger (and more expensive) problem on your hands. The water wall bar will fit on and snap in place with gentle pressure, just make sure the magnet is on the left. Just run a rinse cycle to get everything back in place. You don't want to manually move the carrier any more than you must.
The DW80H9930US/AA-00 does not come with a screw in magnet on the water reflect piece. I in the process of adding a magnet in the same location. I will update with results.

@@jamfonz Yes. I had No luck. I did try several ways of placing a strong earth magnet. Even to replacing it in the original location. My dishwasher gives out after 15 minutes. The rail moves and it does not get jammed. So my guess again is going to be the computer module. 😵 giving up.

Bro you are rock, I have linear dishwasher for less months and have this noise and figured out that something with waterfall system. And guess what?!? It wasn’t proper install, so I just clicked and that’s all!!!!
Thank you
I just cleaned the magnet and now it’s working
My waterfall fell off on its own, as well as another piece. Idk how to put it back on :/
Just GENTLY pull the carrier along the support bar about 6" from its home position.
Thank you Mr. Pavone. Mines been giving me fits. This worked. Ty
Which model is this?
Emily Carpenter DW80J7550UG
The DW80H9930US/AA-00 does not come with a screw in magnet on the water reflect piece. I in the process of adding a magnet in the same location. I will update with results.
rzooter: I am having the same problem and have the same model as you. Do you have an update on the results? Any help would be appreciated. The dishwasher is less than 5 years old and this is the third problem we have had. 😡
@@jamfonz we also did not have a way to fasten the magent. I bought a new waterfall arm (the one he removes in the video) which did nothing. Bought a new GE dishwasher and couldn't be happier
Mine doesn’t have a magnet
Dang buddy you put your phone inside
Hi my Samsung washer was fixed after this thank you, I had a 7C error code after self diagnosing it.
I used the OEM magnet from Amazon
Samsung DC61-03184A Washer Lid Switch Magnet Genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Part www.amazon.com/dp/B075NRQJ2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W4M1NV99TQEA5S5JNP1Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I did not epoxy it in, it was a bit loose without the red epoxy but it doesn’t fall out since my model once screwed it in rest on some piece of the water wall as support so half of the magnet that is shown is supported
Jorge, how did you remove the old magnet from the plastic orange housing?
@@tonycarnevale1633 with the new magnet or another magnet
