Thanks for taking the time to review the SMOBOT. There isn't much information available at the moment so it's good to see a well regarded UA-camr review it. I'm anxiously waiting for them to release a model that supports the Weber Summit Charcoal Grill. If Flame Boss beat them to it, then I'll have a tough decision to make :)
Troy that is a nice gadget. I need to see if they make them for the Oklahoma JOE’S Highland Smoker. Love making some Pork Butt. That looked mighty fine.
Thanks brother, it is a fun gadget to have. I can't wait until they start selling one for the WSM and Weber Kettle. If they don't have it for your Highland Smoker, shoot them an email and ask them to make one for that smoker!!!
Howdy Christy, it is fun getting to try out new gadgets for cooking. The SmoBot worked better than I expected!!! I can't wait to get me one for my WSM and Weber Kettle!!!! Have a blessed week my friend!!! Cheers
Great vid as usual! That's a cool device, and I would imagine being atop a smoker it would need to be immaculately clean for every use, so the mechanism can smoothly adjust at will.
Awesome review my friend!! I love seeing new gadgets on these videos. It's awesome being able to control your smoker when you're not even at home. That pork looked amazing too as always.
I bought the Smobot a couple months ago and have used it a couple of times. Seems to work as advertised for the most part, and I like the idea of passive control (just managing airflow) as opposed to forcing air in with a blower. That said, I find myself defaulting back to just setting the vents myself for simplicity :)
Hey Logan, great to hear from you my friend!!! It is a nice gadget to have if you can't be near your cooker for those long cooks. I do like that it uses the natural air flow of the cooker instead of a fan which can blow ashes on your meat. Overall, I was impressed with the SmoBot and I look forward to getting a version for my WSM and Kettle. Hope you and the family are doing well. All my best!!
Man....thats a great tool. I will be doing research on them. On the portable charger...I own 2...a 10000 and a 20000 mAh made by Solove.....they come in handy bigtime. Wether Im out fishing or at a football game. These things rock. Great video Troy and an awesome looking pork butt. Cheers brother!
Just when I thought I seen it all Troy! That was pretty amazing with all of the probes, and it turned out perfect. You’re such a tease ha ha made me want a pork sandwich really bad. I have been putting off getting a pork butt now I am going to have to get one for sure.
T-ROY COOKS I’ll thank you in and advance Troy!In addition to your channel, your app and sponsorships you should sell photos to food magazines. That photo is perfect. You cooked it to perfection, and that photo is art!
Cool gadget there Troy. Question: Are you concerned that your KJ will now become self-aware, creep into your bedroom and suffocate you as you sleep, then take over your life? Just wondering. ;). Great cook brother!
Thanks Sean, the version for the Kettle and WSM should be out pretty soon. I can't wait to get my hands on those versions also!!! I appreciate the support brother. Keep that smoke rollin'!!!
Hey there T-roy! The SMOBOT looks like a handy tool. It's a shame though that you're having leakage issues and problems with the lid. I've considered purchasing a Kamado Joe, but I continue to hesitate. Pork butt looked great! Thanks for sharing.
Hey Craig, I'm going to try replacing the gasket for the leakage, but I need the newer springs to help keep the lid from falling when the KJ is warmed up. I appreciate you watching!!
Thanks brother!!! It's a fun gadget to have!!! Man, I honestly forgot about my sous vide system. I need to do some cooking with it!!! Thanks for the reminder!! Cheers bro!!!
T-Roy, I love the vids. You inspire me to get the smoke rollin! I recently tried some killer hogs BBQ rub. Not too bad. Can't wait for you to put out your own, I'll surly support you and get some for myself! Cheers buddy!
Nice looking PP Troy. I love technology and am very interested in gadgets to help maintain temperature. Some I've looked at are right expensive. I don't own one yet, but I think there is one of these in my future. (among other things) lol Enjoyed the walk thru on this one. Keep'em coming brother.
Hey Phil, I'm really impressed with the SmoBot. It's a handy gadget to have around when you don't have time to sit by the cooker all day. Keep that smoke rollin' brother!!!
I have not tested the Flame Boss or CyberQ, so I cannot comment on those, but I do like the SmoBot a lot. I recently got the Smoke Gateway and will be giving that a try soon, so stay tuned!!! Thanks for watching Ryan!!
Great video there. I wonder how that smobot gadget is holding up a year later? Are you still using it regularly? Would you still recommend it? It's the only one I know going with a top control vs the bottom with fan. Thanks Troy. And keep up your videos!
Cool gadget, but seems like it's a lot more trouble to set up (removing and replacing the top vent cover) than the CyberQ system. I just snap the fan on the intake port of my Kamado Joe and it's good to go. Just did a 19-hour cook this past weekend with it and it was rock solid. And it has wi-fi monitoring too.
Yep, I have the CyberQ as well, but I find that the fan blows ashes on my meat. The SmoBot is a better option in my opinion. They both do the trick though!!!! I appreciate you watching and thanks for the feedback!
Cool brother!!! I was really impressed with it and I can't wait for the WSM and Kettle versions to be available. Cheers and keep that smoke rollin' brother!!!
Cool brother!!! I was really impressed with it and I can't wait for the WSM and Kettle versions to be available. Cheers and keep that smoke rollin' brother!!!
Hey Jeff, thanks very much!! I really like Tim-Bucks BBQ Sauce, but you have to buy it online. It's good stuff and I always have some handy for pork. I appreciate you watching brother!! Cheers
Better BBQ through technology. I wonder if they make something like this for the Grill Dome... Wait, I don't have a smart phone. I'm still in the stone age, I guess. Can you send some of that nice weather up here? 😀
Troy, isn't that like using a pellet grill with all that fancy temp. control? You sir are cheating! haha! Just kidding, brother! More toys, more fun for everyone. I am thinking of getting one for my WSM 18.5". Can't wait for SMOBOT to have one for the WSM. As always one of the best channels on UA-cam!
Hey Troy, Cheers. I see that you also used a BBQ Guru on your Kamado Joe in the past. Did you like one better than the other? I also have an BBQ Guru but for my Weber Kettle 22" with a Cajon Banit Smoker conversion. I couldn't be happier, but I'm always looking for a better mouse trap. let me know your opinion. Thanks Joe
Hey John, I prefer the SmoBot because it doesn't use a fan. I bet it would work well even in windy conditions. I look forward to getting the WSM version to check out on a windy day. Thanks for watching!!!
Hey Troy! Awesome sandwich at the end! But I gotta say.......this concept of controlling temp is completely opposite of what I thought I've learned, and is blowing my mind! I've always heard....Wide Open,Wide Open,Wide Open.....and adjust your bottom vents! I'm confused...... help me out here! \m/
The top vent lets the heat and smoke escape, so if you control the top vent, you are controlling the smoke flavor and how much heat leaves the pit. I'm learning that you do have to adjust "all" vents to get the right smoke and heat within the cooking chamber.
Thanks Brother! I bet it would be really cool to run it together with a stoker of some kind? I hope to see this controller for the WSM and Kettle some day. \m/
Hi Troy, That's a pretty cool gadget for the for the Kamado. You really need to get on Kamado's case to fix that Hinge and Gasket, I have seen this problem with many folks too. Nevertheless as always a great video and nice job on the unboxing. Btw, Did that shirt of yours come with a Phone case? lol. Cheers, Craig
Happy wife, happy life!! What do you think of the Komoto Joe? The smobot sounds likes the real deal! I don't have space for the the BBQ's (or money) that you have but, I do have the love of meat. I have recently done a pork shoulder using a sous vide machine. Minus the real smoke that only BBQ/smokers can do it was amazing!! Super juicy, and succulent, and it just falls apart. Have you every tried such a machine beef, pork or chicken and if so what do you think of it? Cheers my brother! Abbott_Wins
Yes indeed, if the wife ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!! LOL The new versions of the Kamado Joe are much better than my older version. It is a great cooker for "all around" type cooking. I do have a sous vide machine, but have not used it yet. I hope to shoot some videos using it soon. Thanks for watching!!! Cheers
Love that technology! I may need to find something like that for my WSM. :_) The pork butt looked great as does everything you cook,. Troy! I always enjoy watching your videos and seeing what I can learn. BTW What tripod are you using?
That's great to know!! I look forward to having a SmoBot for my WSM. I appreciate your time of demoing the product. I love technology!! :-) And thank you for the info on the tripod. Have a great day, my friend!!
Is the wire for the damper servo braided metal? It looks like rubber and can melt on some grills. Also as a sidenote, my workplace's network blocked smobot.com as the site is known to contian malmare. Not sure whats up with that
Hey Steven, I'm not sure what type of wire they use, but the plastic coating seems to be really thick and I'm sure it is heat tolerant/resistant. I didn't have any issues with it.
Dang brother James, that's a lot of butts!!! I've already made 3 different meals using my leftovers. Tonight it's pulled pork and sausage gumbo!!! YUM!! Cheers brother!
It would be great if Komodo Joe see this and send you a new Big Joe. I want to invest in it, but would only do so when people like you test it. It’s frustrating when yours is not working correctly - very annoying.
Yeah, that would be nice. I do get frustrated when using mine, but it probably wouldn't be so bad for those who aren't also trying to shoot a video using it. You sort of run out of hands to keep the lid opened!! LOL
Hey T-Roy, another awesome vid smoking the pork butt on your Kamado Joe. I'm not a tech guy by any matter or means. I'm more old school with analog thermometers, heck I don't even own a cell phone much less a smart phone but this looks cool, or hot. Ha! thanks for sharing T-Roy. Cheers mate!
Hey John, the SMOBOT holds up well and I do still use it, but it does need cleaning periodically. Cleaning is really easy though. I usually just clean it every 2-3 cook because the smoke makes the vent start sticking a bit. It has one screw you need to remove to take off the vent and clean it which is simple to do. I appreciate you watching!
Good looking pork. I would be interested in the Smobot until you said password. I cannot add another password to my life, especially not with my barbecue lol
I like the idea of controlling the fire without a fan. One less thing to mess with and the fan sometimes makes hot spots. Good video, T-roy!
Yep, I like the SmoBot a lot since it doesn't use a fan. Come on over and let's do some more cooks using it!!!
Don't tempt me. (it doesn't take much.) lol
Nice DEMO. Amazing cook. I like how you showed us how to pick up the heat slowly, to get it done faster. CHEERS TRoy!
Thanks Joe, sometimes you have to improvise during a cook. LOL Like I always say, cooking is fun!!! I appreciate you watching brother!!! Cheers
Cool new toy T-Roy! That finished sandwich looks fanfreakingtastic!
Thanks Larry, I really enjoyed the SmoBot. And yes, that pulled pork samich was jammin' brother!!! Give me a holler sometime bro!!! I miss our chats!
Thanks for taking the time to review the SMOBOT. There isn't much information available at the moment so it's good to see a well regarded UA-camr review it. Wow! Just wow, makes me want to buy a Kamado Joe just for that device.
It's fun getting new gadgets. That one looked like it did a great job. Your pulled pork looked perfect. Thanks for sharing😃
Yes, it is easy to clean.
That is an amazing looking pulled pork recipe. A very impressive looking product too. Very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it Dwayne. It was a fun day for sure!!! Cheers brother!
my wife and I love the honey pecan rub! we use it regularly with pork belly!
Yeah, I was impressed with the flavor of that rub. Good stuff!!! Thanks for watching Daniel. Cheers brother!!!
Nice cook and great product review. Thanks T-Roy!
Thanks, I appreciate you watching!
Awesome review my friend!! I love seeing new gadgets on these videos. It's awesome being able to control your smoker when you're not even at home. That pork looked amazing too as always.
Yes it is, I love being able to control my cooker while away. Glad you enjoyed the review and cook. I appreciate you watching!

That's some fine looking pulled pork! Great job T-roy!!
Thanks Jeremy, it was mighty fine eating brother!!! I appreciate you watching! Have a wonderful week my friend!
Hey troy that loaded Wichita sure does look nice in the background. Cheers brotha
Yes, it sure does John. I need to fire it up again. It's been several months since I've used it. LOL
Pretty cool gadget. Pork looked awesome.
Hey Chris, the pork was amazing brother!!! I appreciate you stopping by for a visit. Hope all is well on your end brother!!! Cheers
Just when I thought I seen it all Troy! That was pretty amazing with all of the probes, and it turned out perfect. You’re such a tease ha ha made me want a pork sandwich really bad. I have been putting off getting a pork butt now I am going to have to get one for sure.
Get ya a pork butt and make a pulled pork samich!!! You can thank me later! LOL
Nah, my KJ already did that before I connected the SmoBot to it, so I'm used to it! LOL Cheers to ya brother!
I was worried about that too.
Great video T-Roy! That’s a cool gadget also! Need to get one for my Weber kettle! Keep the smoke and videos rollin’
Thanks Sean, the version for the Kettle and WSM should be out pretty soon. I can't wait to get my hands on those versions also!!! I appreciate the support brother. Keep that smoke rollin'!!!
I'm laughing and feeling your pain about that hinge, brother. I made a video rant about it a couple months ago on my channel.
Awesome looking gadget. Is the wire running from damper motor to the smobot heat insulated? The lid on my WSM gets hot and will melt most wires.
Yes, it is a high temp plastic from what I can tell. It's a thick plastic also. Thanks for watching!
Tasty pork butt and tasty tech. These new wifi enabled controllers/temp monitors are the bomb!
Thanks for another great video T-Roy. Cheers. :)
Glad you enjoyed the video Scott. I appreciate you watching!!!
That looks amazing brother. 👍👍👍
Thanks brother!!! It's a fun gadget to have!!! Man, I honestly forgot about my sous vide system. I need to do some cooking with it!!! Thanks for the reminder!! Cheers bro!!!
I love it man.. Really look forward to your sous vide cook... Let me know when you get a chance, I can't wait to see it.

Thanks for watching and I appreciate the support!!!
Amazing Cook and thank you for the review, I just bought a ThermaPen and love it!! I will save up for the SmokeGteway now!
Cool Jason, I just got the Gateway last week and can't wait to check it out on a cook. Keep that smoke rollin' brother!
That this is awesome. And the thermometer, or how'd you say it....thromomreter, seams accurate
I think that was the beer talking!!! LOL Cheers my friend!!!
Looking good as always my brother!
Thanks much brother!!!
Nice coordination between your shirt and phone brother! Ha!
Ha!!!! Thanks brother!
What do you think about Smobot compared to a Flame Boos/ Cyber Q? Pros and Cons of both?
I have not tested the Flame Boss or CyberQ, so I cannot comment on those, but I do like the SmoBot a lot. I recently got the Smoke Gateway and will be giving that a try soon, so stay tuned!!! Thanks for watching Ryan!!

And with my help you could be the best
But I need help. Training josh (Justin)👍😁. He is. Kinda behind the times. Lol ha ha ha ha ha
Great video there. I wonder how that smobot gadget is holding up a year later? Are you still using it regularly? Would you still recommend it? It's the only one I know going with a top control vs the bottom with fan. Thanks Troy. And keep up your videos!
T-Roy do a un-boxing on that new device listed in my previous comments.
T-Roy that was awesome!
Thanks brother!!! It was a fun cook.
Cool gadget, but seems like it's a lot more trouble to set up (removing and replacing the top vent cover) than the CyberQ system. I've never had that problem. To each his own!
Good Morning....Thank You For Sharing....
Morning and God Bless you!!!!
Great video 👍🏾, you sold that Smobot! I’m ordering now.
Hey Troy, just wondering if that would work on the WSM? If not, do you know of one that would? Thanks and keep up the great vids
Hey Michael, they are currently developing a version for the WSM and for the Weber Kettle. It should be available soon. Thanks for watching brother!
Great Video, I enjoy watching your vids. What is your go to bbq sauce for pork that you always keep on hand?
Hey Jeff, thanks very much!! I really like Tim-Bucks BBQ Sauce, but you have to buy it online. It's good stuff and I always have some handy for pork. I appreciate you watching brother!! Cheers
Cool thing that SMOBOT..
And a fine looking PP-sandwich aswell..
Cheers brother!
What's up brother Kjetil? Bro, you know I like to eat good!!! LOL Thanks for watching!
Better BBQ through technology. I wonder if they make something like this for the Grill Dome... Wait, I don't have a smart phone. I'm still in the stone age, I guess. Can you send some of that nice weather up here? 😀
Yeah Dan, you need to get a smart phone brother!!! I'm sending you some better weather!!! Cheers brother!!!
Hey T-ROY --- is it true that you have a cell phone case to match every shirt you own?? Sorry, couldn't resist. Love your videos!!!!
Ha!! Yeah, it's totally cheating!!! LOL It is fun though and I do like having toys to play with. I appreciate you watching brother!!! Cheers
Oh yes my Brother, That Pork Butt Lol Amazing and great Review!!

Cheers Sir
It's a handy gadget to have when you cannot be near the grill for a long cook. Get ya one Scott!!!!
T-ROY COOKS just might
Tnx T-Roy
Try replacing the gasket with a Rutland Gasket. That should fix that leak.
Thanks Joe
Hey Joe, I like the SmoBot because it doesn't use a fan. I was very impressed with how it functioned!! Thanks for watching brother!
How do you think that smobot would work on a windy day compared to the other fan versions? Also, if you need to sell the cyber q, let a brother know!
Hey John, I prefer the SmoBot because it doesn't use a fan. I bet it would work well even in windy conditions. I look forward to getting the WSM version to check out on a windy day. Thanks for watching!!!
Also. Is it holding up well?
How do you compraré this to like a Fireboard ? Have to tested those aswell?

Does this work with the big Joe II and would you still recommend this product
Great video as always! Are you still using the smobot?? Are u liking it? Thanks
Smobot worked great for me. I'd recommend it if you need such a device.
Hi Troy,
That's a pretty cool gadget for the for the Kamado. You really need to get on Kamado's case to fix that Hinge and Gasket, I have seen this problem with many folks too. Nevertheless as always a great video and nice job on the unboxing.
Btw, Did that shirt of yours come with a Phone case? lol.
Cheers,
Craig
Yeah, I need to get with the folks at KJ and get mine fixed. It's a pain to use the way it is right now. Ha, no the shirt was bought separately!!! LOL
do you prefer the Smobot or the CyberQ?
Looking good ! Did I see a kegerator in the background outside ?
You did. with a 2 tap font and rockin what looks like perlick taps. cheers.
Yes indeed, no telling when I'll need a beer. LOL
T-ROY COOKS Hahah, very true , I have one myself. Great minds think about.
Well that's fancy!
Yeah, it's a pretty cool gadget to have. I'm looking forward to a version for the WSM and Kettle!!! Thanks for watching Darin!
T-Roy, what do you use for your pulled pork sauce?
I like to use a N. Carolina type vinegar based sauce which is thinner. I think I used Tim-Buck's sauce for this cook. It's some good stuff!!!
Awesome Bro !! looks great !! I'll take half ok !!!! hee hee !!! love ya Troy !!!
Pretty cool gadget, but that pork butt! Outstanding! Rock On Troy!
Brother, you look like grill master George Clooney
Hey Troy. I really want this device. Do you know if it works in a very cold environment and is it waterproof?
I believe it works down to around 40F, so it won't be able to handle really cold climates. And it is not waterproof.
Great video!!!
Thanks brother!!! It was a fun cook!!!
Awesome gadget. I gotta look into getting me one of those... great looking pork butt as well man.. cheers, and smoke on..
Thanks for the support Jamie!!! Keep that smoke rollin' bro!!! Cheers
2:55 HEH
Love your videos!
Thanks very much!! I appreciate you watching!
Hey Tom, SmoBot will soon have a version for the WSM and Weber Kettles, so stay tuned brother!!! I always use Manfrotto tripods.
That's great to know!! I look forward to having a SmoBot for my WSM. I appreciate your time of demoing the product. I love technology!! :-) And thank you for the info on the tripod. Have a great day, my friend!!
Nice gadget :) Makes life easier i am sure :)
Yes, it's great to have if you cannot be by your cooker during those long cooks. Thanks for watching brother!!! Cheers to ya!!

Hey Steven, I'm not sure what type of wire they use, but the plastic coating seems to be really thick and I'm sure it is heat tolerant/resistant. I didn't have any issues with it.
Nice looking pork butt brotha. I've been on a pork butt kick lately. I've cooked about 6 pork butts in the last 2 weeks.
LOL
Hey T roy when will Karen be in another video with you?The meat looks wonderful as always!!!
There's no telling when Karen will be in a video again. I hope soon!!! I'll let her know you miss her. LOL Thanks brother!!
Thanks William, it is a pretty cool contraption and I did enjoy watching it work even though I was trying to fool it. LOL Cheers mate!!!
You might as well go and get an electric smoker lol. You said yourself that was cheating. Just kiddin ya, great video as always!
It is a form of cheating, but then again, so is using the Kamado Joe. LOL It's all good brother!!! Cheers
Hi, Troy. Your smoked pork butt looks wicked. What's your favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving? Have a good day, good buddy.
Hey Byron, thanks buddy!!! For Thanksgiving, I like to sit back and let the ladies do the cooking for a change! LOL
How is this product holding up? Do you still use it?
Hey John, the SMOBOT holds up well and I do still use it, but it does need cleaning periodically. Cleaning is really easy though. I usually just clean it every 2-3 cook because the smoke makes the vent start sticking a bit. It has one screw you need to remove to take off the vent and clean it which is simple to do. Good looking pork. I would be interested in the Smobot until you said password. I cannot add another password to my life, especially not with my barbecue lol

The pork butt looks off the chain man. Thumbs down on the Kamado Joe man. Have you contacted them?
Call Kamado Joe and they will replace the hinge for free.
