Thanks for your review. I just bought a PL-600 this past week. I chose it over the 660 and the 880 simply because of cost. I wanted a carry along radio and this really fit the bill. I had made my decision reading and seeing reviews and videos of all three radios including your first review of the Pl-600. I am happy with the purchase and Amazon has it for sale at $76.00 delivered. Thanks again. Really like your channel.
Based on your very helpful reviews, I went ahead and purchased the PL 600 as my first SW radio. I didn't want to spend a lot on my first radio and this seemed to be the best value that had SSB. I am an amateur radio operator and my HF rig does a good job on the SW bands, but I wanted something portable so I am not tied to my ham shack in the basement. Thanks for the review. BTW, I got mine on Amazon which was supplied by Kaito USA.
+ArriCAT5e Yes it is cheaper to make receivers that cover less frequencies .. that is why the more you pay .. the more frequency coverage you will get on a radio
I just bought one after much research and considering my budget. I would like to ask with the one it bought today(3/18/15) did the factory correct the problem with the sound or does it still need the modification?
you prolly dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my gf during the lockdown xD
Yes, LW stations from Romania, UK, Poland (on 153, 198, 225 kHz), Morocco (171 kHz), Algeria (252 kHz) and sometimes Mongolia (209 kHz) could be received in Malaysia. However you'll need a long wire antenna, about 30 ft long for the best reception. Otherwise the only way to enjoy best reception of LW in Malaysia is by bringing your radio outside - provided that you keep your radio away from RF interference as far as possible.
To imagine how Middle East MW stations sounds like in Malaysia I recommend you visit my channel. I have a couple of videos of Middle Eastern MW signals received in Pulau Pangkor and Port Dickson back in 2016 and 2017.
Tecsun have just released the 680. It looks like a 600, but functions more like a 660. However the 680 is slightly better on shortwave in sync lock mode, but worse than the 660 on MW weak signals...
This radio and most others like it WILL NOT overload with an outside random wire. One needs to inductive couple the aerial to the whip. There are other ways to do it and they are described all over the internet. I could make a 1000 foot wire work with this radio and once adjusted, overload would not be an issue.
I find a lot of manufacturers make radios with 6mhz to 18mhz range but more expensive receivers can go from 2mhz to 26mhz.. Is it cheaper to make 6 to 18mhz?
I'm a recent subscriber and love your Channel. I have a question about this radio. My Grundig G3 and Sangean DX-440 are capable of using their AC adapters with no batteries in the radio. Will this radio do that as well? Thanks so much.😎👍
Does Tecsun PL 600 receive shortwave stations on east coast of India? I got one Radiwow and an XHDATA digitals both but these receive only south-east Asian stations only, very rarely MW and FMs not at all. Thanks in advance.
I had this few years ago. Receiver and audio quality is fantastic on all bands. Build quality is low. Plastic stand broke, antenna broke, in winter receiver doesn’t work which means I can only use it indoors and summertime! Haha

I just bought a used PL 600 for $51US that's about 9 months old on Ebay. can't wait to get it and see how well it picks up.
Kaito us website has the PL600 for sale as well.
Looks like its making a comeback.
Enjoyed the review and will act upon it.
Thanks..
Been looking for a radio to get into ssb. This sounds like a good fit even though it's almost 10 years old.
Even my SONY ICF 7600GR is an excellent performer on mediumwave with the TECSUN AN 200 loop. I use it when I'm on holiday.
It's similar to 660. Overload with long wire is solved by decreasing antenna gain with switch on left side from DX to normal.
Right, that's what I did when using it outside in countryside. I operate it with several longwire antenna's and on a rotatable loop.

Only $50 US!

@Karsyn Mathew yea, I've been watching on Instaflixxer for months myself :)

Great review, I'm thinking of getting one, and needed confirmation. Great info

Hi, how sensitive and selective is it on the FM band.? How does it compare with the XHDATA d 808 on all bands? Thanks

Gilles your utube videos are awesome

AC Adaptors often add noise to the radio
If I compare the plastic stand of TECSUN radios with my SONY ICF SW7600GR it's thicker in joints and feels more robust.
Gilles your Tecsun Pl 600 mw lw fm SW ssb 5 bands radio Receiver is cool

use the headphone jack to hook up to external speakers

You can buy a new antenna for all Tecsun models on eBay .
