Bryan I enjoy you videos even the long ones, sometimes I have to stop them and come back later but I always come back to finish them. Thanks for the video
Hello Bryan. Personally I like long videos. They give way more details, a better perspective, and I learn more than from short superficial ones (not that you make any of those). The longer the video - The longer my cozy time. And I do have a cozy time watching your videos which I have done for years. Of course you shall make your videos the length that suits you, and according to what you have time for, but what you don't have to do is to apologize for making a long one because I love it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Though I would very much like to see more of them I will not ask you to spend more time than you already do - The length is entirely your decision, and I appreciate what ever you choose to enrich our lives with. I'll tell you here right from the beginning that I'll be enjoying each and every second of this. (I hope there's a good rant in there as well). Thanks and the very best wishes from Denmark. Stay awesome Mate.
Bryan thanks for taking the time to make this video. There was a lot to cover here and one does appreciate you sharing all the knowledge you have in getting the old girl working again.
Glad to see you back making videos. I've never worked on one of the battery operated tube radios myself and in fact never see one around here. Interesting indeed. I'm with you on trying to help someone. I am not rich by any means but if I can help someone I usually will. People have that mentality now that they dictate the terms of the help. When I first moved from home I didn't have nothing but a bed. I didn't complain about anything someone give me to help me out. I sure didn't have nice furniture or anything else, but I was glad to have it. People don't think that way no more unfortunately. Great video buddy! Cheers! 🍻 -Al
Dear Mr. Radiotvphononut: Continue to produce longer videos. The longer length provides a much better interpretation of ancient electronic principles and aids in reducing sleep deprivation.
I agree, I suggest that anybody even remotely interested should download the entire load before it goes away, because indeed these are very nice quality scans compared to the much more common websites where you can download the individual PDF files but they look like bird shit spattered on a windshield when you zoom in.
Anyway this is a feature film. There are movies this long. I think the movie Gandhi was like three and a half hours. Ben-Hur was 3 and 1/2 or 4 hours long.
That’s one ☝️ impressive video length, Mr. Radiotvphononut!! I think 🤔 it’s a record length!! That’s a very fancy radio 📻, and it even has the manual 👨!! Way better than the best, most deluxe Crosley of today!! Please 🙏 don’t apologize for the length of the video, I was waiting for one ☝️. Ya get the best of both worlds 🌎. It’s both electric ⚡️, and battery 🪫 operated. Please strive to make us these extra long videos!! They also work as an ASMR video for those who have trouble 👿 falling asleep 😴. I have no trouble 👿 there, but it could be a favorite 😍 video to fall asleep 😴 to, anyway!! Your friend, Jeff.
I get my kester solder from electronic goldmine out of Arizona. They also have bulk capacitor boxes for a low price if you don't mind doing the sorting. All quality brand name caps.
Bryan, it's tough to even find plumber's solder. I tried lead-free solder. That was a disappointment. Also, the 60/40 solder is only available in the micrometer diameters. It takes much more to solder the old joints. OK, done with the rant. Keep up the good work.
That's some odd voltages and a lot of them. But back in those days anything is possible.Things just weren't standardized. The 90V sets are much easier as you can just use a battery eliminator. It's a long one but I'll watch it all. I'll have to do it in bits and pieces.
Radiotvphononut, regarding the supply line noise, have you tried bypassing each rectifier diode in the power supply with a capacitor of around 0.1µF. Worked for me after replacing the metal rectifier in a transistor radio with silicon rectifier diodes.
Wow! 3 hours and 30 minutes of repairing a 1930’s radio from the Great Depression era. We should called it “Radiotvphononut: The Movie”. It has most of the segment with the new camera, and most of it with the old camera.
Really like your videos dude you remind me some of my family and I know you remind me of shango066 when we are going up against other maybe that's what he says stuck like Chuck
I wouldn't skip. I'd just stop and pickup more later. I do the same thing with long movies on DVD. Edit: I watched it all. I guess this was done last summer or fall? I heard cicadas.
2:37:52 I very much agree, that style of gospel music (hymns). A lot of the modern stuff is not to my taste in musical preferences. I like that many of the hymns have been sung for hundreds of years and have stood the test of time.
You need a gimmick for your channel, like glasslinger or Rosie O'Kelly. That way you can monetize your channel, and get all of the nice parts and equipment you want
What are the odds I picked this radio up last weekend for 5.00.. I want to repair it and I sure could use the schematic. If there's any way I could get that from you that would be great. It's my second radio. I really would like to be able to do this if you read this please leave a comment somehow I could contact you
Radiotvphononut I agree AM sond like it is dieing I hop am radio is round for good I no now in the new cars with the cars radios they won't have mw band in the cars radios only FM 🎉🎉🎉😊😊
Most of us watch the videos to learn something. Please spare us and kindly lose the attitude, the whining about everything wrong, the pessimism and consider that folks of ALL ages are watching. So sorry your glass is half empty but stop bringing everybody down with your negative attitude. Life aint perfect sir but most of us enjoy vintage electronics and you are constantly complaining and badmouthing everything. Cool it.
I think it is kind of important though for the audience to know when something is done "not to the book" and is wrong. The fact he acknowledges it is actually probably helpful for others. As to there being negatively on the channel I think the truth is (although as I've never met him I can't 100% make this claim) he seems a good hearted individual who is trying to enjoy his hobby and helps people where there is need. Sadly, there are people who do try and take advantage of kindness. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. You're right about that! However, it seems to imply that you desire somehow he pretended that is the case. As for being an all audience channel; I think it's amazing how the internet connects us all. However, I doubt many kids, tweens, teens, or young adults watch. Probably there are some but that's probably not the target demographic. Overall, you have to take what's there in a video and if you don't like it (as the actual BBC says on some of their programming due to rules they can't appear to be advertising) "Other [insert product/service here in this case "channels" fits in] are available."
Please keep the long videos coming! I've been watching you for years and it's always a pleasure sir!
Bryan I enjoy you videos even the long ones, sometimes I have to stop them and come back later but I always come back to finish them.
Thanks for the video
Bill you may have a contender for your crown of greatest FLAPPER hahahahaha
I'm the same with longer videos. I find myself watching them in "sessions". Nice to see a comment from you Bill. 🙂
You never have to apologize for length of videos. I will watch whatever you post.
I know nothing about electronics or radio t.v repair, but I love watching these videos
Don't apologize, I enjoy your knowledge wisdom, I happy to have Long video's
I have aquired a 1929 model 86 lowboy chasis and speaker complete.... cabinet was a basket case.... Someone needs to own.... Scotty in Alabama 😎

Wow a *radiotvphononut* vintage electronics video that is over 3 hours long! 🥰Easter must have sure come early this year.😇☺
Bryan thanks for taking the time to make this video. There was a lot to cover here and one does appreciate you sharing all
the knowledge you have in getting the old girl working again.
That was a lot of work but you got a pretty decent sounding radio at the end. Thanks for sharing this video.
Radiotvphononut you are good at restoring vintage shortwave receivers and alignment of vintage shortwave receivers with ssb
Amazing how they used the 30 tube as a diode detector! and so many tube for the audio section!
no apologies necessary I appreciate the upload thanks
Try feeding the external antenna via a transformer or inductive coupling to the receiver.
Glad to see you back making videos. I've never worked on one of the

Enjoyed the video a lot and no need to apologise for its length.
3.5 hours? Old Goat got nothing on you! But I do plan to watch the whole thing! I always do!
Radiotvphononut your utube videos are awesome 👌 👏 👍 🎉😊
The Riders manuals are available on internet archive. I just downloaded volume 23 as a pdf. It's big (95mb) but looks like a very good scan.
I agree, I suggest that anybody even remotely interested should download the entire load before it goes away, because indeed these are very nice quality scans compared to the much more common websites where you can download the individual PDF files but they look like bird shit spattered on a windshield when you zoom in.
HAha! The catheter salesman comment was hilarious, it made me spit out my juice.
Anyway this is a feature film. There are movies this long. I think the movie Gandhi was like three and a half hours. Ben-Hur was 3 and 1/2 or 4 hours long.
I like using my Sams and Riders too even when I find the schematic on the internet I will still print a paper copy !

Radiotvphononut your vintage Coronado battery operated tube AM sw 2 band radio from 1930 is cool 😎 👌 🎉🎉😊😊
WTWW was the shortwave oldies station. 5085Khz if I remember correctly. They unfortunately went off the air last November..
woohoo! Three hour tour....

“plant S”-Sentinel? The produced a lot of private branded radios in the 1930s

volume 18 is on ebay right now
Really like your videos dude you remind me some of my family and I know you remind me of shango066 when we are going up against other maybe that's what he says stuck like Chuck
Micro Center sells lead/tin solder-they have locations in California, but not sure if they would be convenient for you to get to.
The A.R,R.L. handbook, might have ideas for building external antenna noise filters that you might find useful.
I wouldn't skip. I'd just stop and pickup more later. I do the same thing with long movies on DVD.
Edit: I watched it all. I guess this was done last summer or fall? I heard cicadas.
1:10:42...why not drill a hole for the nut driver?
Hello! Thanks for the great video. From 1:31:48 to 1:32:08 the radio is receiving a Romanian station. What kind of antenna are you using? 🙂
Better going long that getting into the "Shorts" nonsense.
Great video, thanks again , watched it all 3:30 hrs😂
Looks like it’s cryin time again Buck.
I seem to have no audio on this video but the others I watch do so.
2:25:43...why not add an extra output jack to the signal generator, and connect it to a frequency counter?
Problem solved!!!
Some of us have nothing to do. If we be stuck at home or such we might like the reality tv
Pretty long but very informative. Thanks.
Do you post a shipping address? I’ve got some stock you may be able to use.
Very nice
1:58:23...have you checked the local oscillator output at the lower end of the dial?
It could be the amplitude/frequency of the LO is falling off...
2:37:52 I very much agree, that style of gospel music (hymns). A lot of the modern stuff is not to my taste in musical preferences. I like that many of the hymns have been sung for hundreds of years and have stood the test of time.

The shortwave station playing oldies is WRMI. Use 3:01:49 d to be WTWW.
Radiotvphononut your vintage Coronado battery operated tube AM sw tow band radio the AM Band is good for Dxing at night and day 👌 🎉🎉😊🎉😊
2:13:48 just wondering what I am looking at here. Is that a microfiche? As I notice it's on a CRT. Or is your computer hooked up to a CRT?
What about a LT800 transformer.
I doubt anybody working at a modern gospel station knows who Sister Rosetta Tharpe was.
How man mH in the IF can?
What are the odds I picked this radio up last weekend for 5.00.. I want to repair it and I sure could use the schematic. If there's any way I could get that from you that would be great. Was that radio made for them by Crosley ?
I think it was made by Belmont.
