  • The Second Generation GMC Terrain features many updates both inside and out. The Terrain ranges in price from $24,995 for the base model SL FWD up to $39,270 for the Denali AWD as seen here. Take a look at these 10 things you need to know about the 2018 GMC Terrain:
    1) Exterior Design - The Denali Grill, 19-inch rims, Chrome Accents, and bodyline really make for a premium look.
    2) Interior Features - Upscale materials such as leather and real aluminum area featured in the new Terrain.
    3) Cargo Capacity - Versatility and Storage were main factors when designing the Terrain’s interior.
    4) Weight Savings - 350 lbs. have been removed from the 2018 model. This helps fuel economy and performance.
    5) Drivetrain Choices - There are 3 different engine choices including a 1.6 liter Turbo Diesel 4-cylinder.
    6) Turbo Diesel - Can run on regular Diesel and B20 (Biodiesel fuel)
    7) Quiet Cabin - To reduce noise, insulation has been added in various places under the engine and throughout the chassis.
    8) Precision Shifter - Easy to use buttons activate park, drive, and reverse modes.
    9) Infotainment - Easy to use smart phone design with better navigation.
    10) Fuel Economy - Up to 39 MPG on the highway with the diesel engine.

    I guess everybody has an opinion but to me its great to see an suv still retain some of that boxed/squared shape when everyone else is europanizing and curving! I think itz great!

    Have had my 2018 terrain denali for about 2 months and love it. Great gas mileage and smooth ride. Handles great. The new shifter is really nice. Just something different to adjust to but after a couple of days it's like second nature. My husband and son who are die hard Ford men admit this is a real nice car and are impressed.

    Just purchased the 2019 Black-Out addition a couple of weeks ago...LOVE THIS SUV. We tested the Mazda CX-5, Ford Edge & Escape, Toyota Rav 4, Hyundai Tuscon, and Honda CRV. Wife and I both agreed for us the Terrain was the best, ticking off all the boxes we looked for in drivability, comfort, and features.

    I think they should have put ALL these features in the Terrain without changing the body style design, or instead made both in the other body style Terrains and the New Terrain, because I love the other Terrains body style that looked like the Truck

    Regarding the complaints about the shifter... how many times when you’re driving, do you shift? Realistically speaking, and more often than not, about twice when shifting from P to D and later from D to P. I do like the stick shift but I’ve grown use to these electronic shifter. It’s quick and engages faster than the stick shift. Nothing has really changed when shifting other than that my two fingers are on P and D buttons rather than my hand on the stick shift.

    Very glad to see GMC has the gear shift buttons feature. Would be very helpful for people with arthritis to have the buttons for gear shifter. I am looking for one with this feature and so disappointed it is not available in more affordable cars/suv's (only the Lincoln has this feature but very expensive and not gas efficient). Hopefully, the buttons doesn't need much pressure to press or pull as well. The gear shift that needs only a slight touch to work on th 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is really nice also if it can be used for all other vehicles. And it would be good if GMC has better build for better safety rating, at least like Honda CRV or Subaru Outback. Honda HRV has the Screen angled toward the driver side, which is very cool.

    Lot to like but a couple things to HATE:
    1) No Auto Start/Stop disable option (unless manual transmission mode is selected)
    2) 3-star side-crash rating
    3) Made in Mexico -WHY would an American brand make any vehicle outside of the U.S. especially now with updated tax laws, tariffs, etc.
    4) 16-gallon fuel tank capacity -Should be 20 gallons or more for road trip capacity

    • @clivegarlow2443
      @clivegarlow2443 6 років тому

      One important feature of diesel engines is, they tend to go on forever. Very tough and usually low upkeep with great fuel mileage. The cost of diesel seems to go up and down like a toilet seat at a mixed party with no discernable reason as to why. Some places it can cost less while at others, it can cost more than gas. However good it may be in that sense, I am seriously disappointed in the body design. I won't be buying one. If GM had kept the previous design - or close to it - WITH a diesel option for '18, I would be there in a heartbeat. Ford made the very same mistake with the redesign of the Escape. Too flarey and feminine for this man's taste. No 'fence ladies.

      Hi Sal,
      I have a 2018 Terrain Denali. The button shifter is actually awesome for parallel parking. I just keep my hand on the buttons and use two fingers to pull the trigger buttons for Drive and Reverse and it is much faster than pressing a button on a shifter and having to pull or push the lever into gear. Once you get use to it you won't miss the lever, unless you are driving a stick/ manual transmission which

First GMC ruined the Acadia, we LOVED our 2013- you changed the body style, so we switched to the Terrain/ 2016- which we love. I am so sad GMC has taken the strong lines and turned this into an SUV that looks like everything else on the road. YUCK!

    Who would possibly be dense enough to put their plastic paddle board in their vehicle blocking their view and being irresponsible to do that? Cmon GMC I would like to purchase this rig and feel like a dumb ass when you are saying stuff like water bottle confusion? Really? Also B20 is 20% biodiesel mix 80% Dino diesel not “biodiesel” which would be 100% biodiesel. Words have power but to treat people who you want to be your customers like dumb ass sheeple! Hope that Eco diesel can run reliably and be straight forward to maintain. Thank you.

    Mike -
    Your design is awful.
    1) I can't see out the rear quarter panel to see my blind spot. The little postcard size window doesn't do anything.
    If I can't see cars in my blind spot, I have no interest in anything else.
    2) Panoramic moon roof.
    Seriously, I hope this isn't the reason for the post card rear window. Detroit is pushing this on consumers but there's no way that my children want the sun's light glaring on their electronic devices. And it really doesn't do much for the front passengers either.

    Dump the foreign car. Buy American.

  • @lakevacm
    @lakevacm 6 років тому

    Are you commited to regaining the crown of quality and trouble free service from Honda, Toyota, and up and comers, like Mazda, or the Koreans; Koreans who are benefitting from German engineering techniques? If so, the impression which has been allowed to develop, that American cars are undependable candidates to spend our money on, may be reversed over time. And the feeling people have that the only American car they would buy is a pickup truck will fade away.
    The Japanese started designing small cars from the premise that they are small cars, whereas American small cars looked like a big car they shrank. I don't understand how American automotive manufacturers overlooked that design quality. Also, It is perplexing, how a large Continent like North America cannot produce a real competitor to the 7 series, or the new 2018 Honda Accord. I think in the attempt to gain repeating sales, combined with a disregard for the American consumer, we were surpassed by foreigners. This impression still lingers, ergo, I am venting some frustration. You have to prove these things to us in the age of ubiquitous information. Design an American version of the MDX that is diesel powered, that has a manual transmission option, whose chassis is made of heat treated metal, you can advertise as 30 percent stiffer, and some percentage lighter that is super quiet, and include a 140k/6 year warranty, and don't price it out of reach. Something that is in between the M series beamer and the Acura, in terms of shape. Make sure the transmission is impeccable. That's just a few suggestions.
