I’ve always loved imagining the Dalek Time Strategist and the Time War red/gold collared Supreme in the same room together (since that Big Finish png of the DTS is obviously just a recolored Supreme). What a family reunion.
Honestly I much prefer the idea of the Time Strategist being taller than the normal Supreme. Makes him more unique, plus makes sense given what's contained inside his casing.
Master Plan Supreme all the way. It's imposing, clever and really dominates it's scenes. Staring down Mavic Chen until he breaks and runs is so satisfying. If we're branching out, then it's the Time Strategist because well, the guy's just too badass.
I really love the gold and black color scheme on the Planet of the Daleks Supreme, he's honestly what I think of when I think of Supreme Daleks. I like the red New Who supreme as well, it feels very grand with the modified design and the voice does a lot for it.
I once saw an edit of the 2008 supreme with the gold and black of the Planet supreme and it looked incredible. If they wanted to bring back the supreme, they could definitely use that colourisation!
As designs, I love the Supreme Daleks from the first Cushing film and Remembrance. They just look so glossy and important and beautiful. As an individual character, I think my favourite Supreme Dalek is the Susan Mendes Supreme from Dalek Empire III. Sarah Mowat makes a really good, sinister, creepy and frighteningly manic Dalek.
My favourite has to be the red Supreme from Series 4, how it has a different colour scheme and casing, though I do like the design of the '60s Supremes.
My personal favourite supreme is the one from the Canon version of the dalek invasion of Earth (Or as I call him, The Black Dalek). It goes well with any 60s design and you can always tell it's in command because he's just so unique
It is hard to say which is my favourite Dalek Supreme design really as I own 5 inch toys of the one's seen in Day of the Daleks, Frontier in Space, Planet of the Daleks and Resurrection of the Daleks. All of those designs, in my opinion, are so iconic in their own ways. I guess though I would have to say the modern series red and gold one that was used in The Stolen Earth, Journey's End, The Magician's Apprentice and The Witch's Familiar. It is also helped by that I own a very rare and hard to get 18 inch radio controlled toy of it that I have yet to unbox it and I have left it in it's box due to storage space in my house elsewhere at the moment. I should also say that I got it last time that I went to London Comic Con and there was a good chance of me not getting it at all as I was having trouble with paying for it for some reason at the time. I'd say it, but that is personal for me to explain. Still though, it's a great design, even if I do find the slats surrounding it questionable that it makes it look like it has a lion's mane. I do really like it though as it looks armed, dangerous and powerful. I love it personally.
My favourite Supreme Dalek is the red one for two reasons. Reason number one: Is fairly minor, it's that red is my favourite colour so red daleks will also be my favourite. Reason number two: Just look at it. Both Supremes who have that casing are easy to identify even if you're colour blind. You can look at them and be able to tell instantly that they are in charge or at least very important.
My personal favourite Dalek Supreme from Classic is the Gold and Black and my favourite from New is the Red I also like the Dalek Time Controller, Dalek Time Strategist and Dalek X

An interesting point of note is how less and less of the Supreme is painted over the 60s era. The DIOE Supreme is painted fully black, whereas the Chase and DMP Supremes are both left with a plain shoulder section due to the introduction of the slats making it more tedious to repaint them. Finally, you get to Evil where the dialogue suggests that there are several “Black Dalek Leaders.” There’s been so little time to repaint them that only the dome was manageable, causing future audiences to interpret them as being of a lower bodyguard rank. Also worth noting that you didn’t mention in this video is the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Supreme seen in the background of the Dalek mothership in Parting of the Ways. It has the same design philosophy as the Chase and Masterplan Supreme, using a black skirt and dome, but a standard shoulder section.
Don't forget the fact that the DioE Supreme actually appeared in the episode before its paint job was even finished, creating the 'Dalek Saucer Commander' rank completely by accident (which then subsequently disappears as soon as the Supreme shows up) The case of the black-domed Daleks is an odd one, as while the script intends them to be black Daleks, that isn't what we see on-screen and the black-domed rank has basically taken on a life of its own as the fandom has dubbed them Emperor's Guard Daleks, and this carries over to Parting of the Ways I will likely do a separate video on the Dalek Supreme Council that explains the distinction between Dalek Supremes and high-ranking Dalek commanders
I just prefer if they put more effort in than simply a re-paint. Just making it a little more distinct. I'd just love to see more variety in the Dalek designs. The special weapons dalek was good, Maybe some vehicles beyond spaceships. A dalek tank! Even just in an establishing shot, or a shadow on a background hinting at a greater menace just out of sight...
All Supreme daleks are unique in their own way. - As a Supreme Dalek, I do like the 2008/2015 red supreme dalek for how the casing and the deep voice clearly denotes that this guy is running the show. It tweaks the dalek design a bit to ensure it's still faithful, but suitably different enough to be a supreme. - With that said, the recoloured classic Supremes (apart from the Planet supreme obviously) are fun to watch too. I've always had a soft spot for the Resurrection Supreme given that its colour scheme I think actually looked quite good. Also, that voice made it sound properly unhinged. A pity that the Resurrection Supreme never met either Davros or the Doctor on-screen* as that would have been an interesting confrontation given everything else that happens in Resurrection; he spends most of his time on what is presumably the bridge of the battle cruiser. *I'm of the belief that the Supremes in Resurrection and Remembrance (the latter also getting a mention in Revelation) are two seperate daleks. The battle cruiser gets blown to bits at the end of Resurrection and no way would that Supreme have escaped.
There's a source somewhere, the novelisation I think, that says the Supreme Dalek transmatted to another location when it got back to its ship. so the white void the Supreme Dalek is in when it talks to the Doctor in the TARDIS is not aboard the battleship, its somewhere else
@@darlig.ulv.bakhjerne The Dalek Handbook from 2010 states definitively that the Supreme Dalek from Resurrection was destroyed in the explosion and a new Supreme (presumably the one that appears in Remembrance) assumes control on Skaro during the events of Revelation. I’ve not read the novelisation of Resurrection - from what I’ve heard it’s a bit odd (apparently Tegan gets the ability to fly at the end?).

There's also the fact that the 2010 Dalek Handbook contradicts a lot of stuff from earlier Dalek lore with its own explanations for things that had already been explained. According to the original comics, all of the Supreme Daleks from Classic Who are the same individual Dalek, sort of like how the Cybermen have inexplicable knowledge of every previous Cyberman appearance in Earthshock, this Supreme Dalek apparently keeps popping up and escaping again whenever its convenient. I reckon that's what inspired Dalek Sec's emergency temporal shift ability in New Who - Russell was a big fan of those old comics
I've also thought that the Rabbit ear - dome lights should be reserved for the Dalek Supreme rather than all the Daleks (as is the cased for post RTD Time War Daleks), I defo think the best design has got to be a tie between Planet of the Daleks and Stolen Earth as the bright colours make it stand out... interestingly you never see the Emperor Dalek and Dalek Supreme in the same story (or the same room) - Remembrance aside (though Davros doesnt count)
Considering The Power of the Doctor is potentially the last time we're gonna see the Time War Daleks, they could have at least gone to the effort of painting the Dalek that was clearly the leader (like Revolution it had a deep voice) partially black
I think Chibnall is one of those Dalek fans who doesn't see the point of having multi-coloured Dalek ranks. In a way, it makes sense. There is no real reason why Daleks would use distinct casing colourations to denote rank, in the RTD/Moffat eras Daleks couldn't even see in colour. I personally disagree with that philosophy but I do understand why he thinks that way
Planet of the Daleks supreme is my personal favorite. Im not to keen on the red time war supremes, they grow on me a bit but I can't put my finger on what it is that I don't like about them.
That's possibly a Commander but there's nothing in the script to suggest it's a Supreme, in fact the script doesn't seem to acknowledge that it's any kind of command-class Dalek at all, I think that's a case sort of like in Revelation of the Daleks where a group of Daleks is being led by a generic drone
Mine is from Resurection. It can't be the same in Rememberance, it's taller and sports a smaller eystalk that looks ugly and has silver spheres then white. The one from Resurections, people seem to think that Supreme is the one with a slope on the back of it's lower casing when we never get to fully see that supreme.
I prefer it when they’re metal/silver/black. They’re supposed to be sinister, dark and quite nazi-like. The idea they’d choose flamboyant colours to me is always ludicrous. I like the black dalek from Dalek invasion of Earth. The Daleks from Genesis and Ressurection are good too. Also the Cult of Skaro
But Sek is part of the cult of skaro set outside the main command unit to think outside of the command environment for the survival of the Dalek race so i am not sure why Sek is being counted to be honest.
I did note that in the video, I only counted Sec because he was a continuation of the black Dalek rank from Classic Who and that he was the de-facto Supreme after the Time War as he was the highest ranking Dalek in existence

The Supreme in Planet is the first to have a deep voice, possibly inspired by the Emperor (the same with the modern Supremes).
I've always been fond of the White Supreme from Moffat's era, had a great voice and I liked that it inverted the colours used by Supremes of the past

The red dalek supreme and planet dalek supreme are the best because I think a dalek supreme needs to stand out not just in colour but also in design

The black & gold was my fave, and the all black one was probably my second favorite. The rest all kind of blend together in my mind, frankly.
I love the Supreme seen in stolen earth, but I really REALLY love the black and gold design from Planet of the Daleks
