Beautiful work by Brice Marden... I love his work and have for a long time now. This new show is amazing! Thank you for filming this, James. Love your commentary on his work.
Thanks for this, saw this show Dec. 11 and now I can relive the experience. I did the same thing as your camera, looked from afar and then stuck my nose right up to it... wonderful. It's impossible to argue with the quiet dignity of these wonderful pieces.
These videos are amazing and very appreciated. Love those surfaces and love those line paintings with their previous incarnations like ghosts beneath the surface.
Thank you so much! Especially in these times where we are not able to visit our favourite galleries it is fantastic to be able to get a guided tour from you. Marden is one of my favourite painters and has influenced me a lot in my own work.
Superawesome video once again. I really like the last part where you added some thoughts after you have spoken to Brice Marden off camera. The explanation of the calligraphers leaving a space open at the bottom, and he using that idea in his work was also very insightful to me. The Superstroke Art Movement of which I am a member of is sometimes very inspired by the art of Brice Marden ++++
Nice way to see work on line and I enjoyed the running commentary. It seems Marden is summing up & pulling his whole life together and must be nearing the end - but with Med Tech we can all keep going... Brice do something new and unexpected break out... such is the Modern Condition to be eternally new, right ? You can't go yet even though you are old enough to do whatever you want to do without worry. Take that attitude moving forward as you still have at least 20 years of productive capacity. c
Thank you James! Beautiful paintings. The colour used in the underpainting on the largest work appears to me as being the classic caput mortum violet instead of magenta?
Thank you. I like Marden's work very much. I also like the sense of the clandestine in your videos, all that heavy breathing. Like one is accompanying a burglar.
+TheTerminalExpress I don't, but a a painter who likes to pop the hood and look behind the curtain, this is an interesting question. I'll see what I can find out...
+TheTerminalExpress I asked Karen Hagel, the receptionist, and she said there is a pretty sophisticated framework built onto the backs of the panels, so not just some mending plates...
I like the dancing Line works - they seem more joyfull to me. The others seem solumn, silent repetitive, very often soft vibrational whispers of terre verde against darks of different kinds. I suppose its stronger to watch them in Real life to appreciate the sense of surface
James, try pausing movement with the camera occasionally. The camera will have a chance to focus and let the viewer of the video look around. Great informative videos as ways!
Thank you James, absolutely loved these works and your sleuthing for insight into the works from the artist himself was fun. Why so shy Brice you’ve nothing to prove? Maybe he’s a moody artist..
Why do museum videos ruin it for viewers? The camera floating around, then constant close ups nut rare is a view of the PICTURE itself. This is the worst, makes me dizzy, nauseated, not the art....bad camera work.
Brice has hit one out of the park with this show, wonderful paintings.
He's a great colorist.
Thank you James.

Fascinating and compelling work - thanks for being here tonight

And his drawings seem to have a very different feeling. Very organic, somehow blissfull joy of abundance of aliveness
Thank you ...really wonderful valuable beautiful service....voice over great...never gets in the way of art.
It never gets in the way of art, this exhibition size matters .haha
These videos are amazing and very appreciated. Love those surfaces and love those line paintings with their previous incarnations like ghosts beneath the surface.
Thank you James. Certainly a show that I would love to see. A Happy New Year to you and thank you for your reports.

Thank you Kate. Another inspiring video.

Un grande, un artista a seguir. Lo descubrí ya casi 20 años.
I love his choice of materials and color. I love the Asian influences.
thank you for doing this video, learned a lot again!
Perfectly calming.

Thank you Kate
thanks for taking the time to shoot this, bro
But you missed.
And I loved the off show quote from the artist - “ that he was old enough to make whatever he wanted...”
Beautiful video James! Thank you! Any chance you got video of the Wolf Kahn show?
Are you seeing gestural marks from the older style underneath the panels on Eastern Moss?
Thank you James! Beautiful paintings. The colour used in the underpainting on the largest work appears to me as being the classic caput mortum violet instead of magenta?
+Erwin de Hart Yes, or a deep maroon...?
+jameskalm perhaps...I would love to see these works in 'person' :-)
I would love to see these works in reality.
Thank you. I like Marden's work very much. I also like the sense of the clandestine in your videos, all that heavy breathing. Like one is accompanying a burglar.
Thanks for coming along for the heist. We're transgressing the establishment's domination of information and control...
Nothing new here ,very immature.
I hate to say it because I am really very open minded, but 'the emperor has no clothes' seems to apply here. Thanks James, thanks Kate.
James, do you have any idea what Brice uses to connect the panels?
+TheTerminalExpress I don't, but a a painter who likes to pop the hood and look behind the curtain, this is an interesting question. I'll see what I can find out...

+jameskalm great. Thanks for the answer.

And I wonder how did you know that he had worked on one of blue-gray line paintings for 7-8 years? I am just curious.

Mark Tobey must be an influence ...
hollywood sings beautiful

Brice ❤️
Marden's work at best is mildly amusing. Without the ab-ex artists he wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Thanks for the show anyway.
👏👏👏👏👏
wow
mucha pared vacia
Check out Forest Arts , his art is very good. Abstract mixed with spiritual art etc
I wish you didn't have to wisper. Its as though you are in a place where you are not supposed to be.The strange texts is called Asemic writing.
great james really looks and sniffs around paintings, something that is lost a bit today with all the instaflickin
Nothing wrong with a fetish for the finish :its the realm of painters, material is everything and it's female. X
Zzzzzzzzzzzz
