nice! I play the sitar and happened upon this video searching for some set-up tips for an acquaintance who acquired an esraj from the late 1800s. I have a theory off the top of my head that the peacock story *may* be sort of like a christmas tree-type syncretic effort to incorporate symbolism associated with Saraswati into the Sikh holy music tradition. Either way, it's a beautiful story. thanks for the vid! I'll check out your channel!
Thank you! Yeah, like so much in culture and religion, stories are just stories and whether we know the truth or not, they take on their own life and then become part of the culture or the religion. It is fascinating and never really meant to be taken too seriously.
what a great video!
Thank you!
The sound reminds me of my time at the golden temple in amritsar india. Table mountain outstanding Mark. Beautiful.
The Golden Temple being the spiritual center of Sikhism, that does not surprise me. It must have been amazing!! How long were you there?
That is stunning Sparky. What a great episode. Your esraj solo you played for my upcoming album is Biblical 🙏
Man I can’t wait to hear it!!!
Another great episode, Mark! I’m loving the esraj!
Thanx so much!!
