Origami Planter Pot Box Tutorial - Wide Rimmed Box - Paper Kawaii

- Learn how to make an origami planter pot box, this wide rimmed box is made with 1 sheet of square paper, no glue required. It's perfect to use as a little plant pot for paper flowers or the origami cactus. It's also a lovely display box.
This origami box is a more complex masu box, the same method of folding the creases and then collapsing them all to the center.
The best paper to use for this is textured paper in my opinion. But it works nicely with medium weight paper, about 80 GSM. Thinner origami paper works but the box will be flimsy.
Use paper that is at least 17 x 17 cm or bigger (best to be about 30 x 30 cm).
You can also use this box as a pot for the origami flowers or the cactus (flowers: • Origami Flower Pot - S... ) (cactus: • Origami Cactus & Flowe... ), see below for the size and link to flower holder or just stick them in it without the holder!

Paper size example: 21 x 21 cm
Final model size: 7.5 x 7.5 x 3.5 cm
Inner square space: 4 x 4 x 4 cm
Size needed to make the flower holder insert ( • Origami Cactus / Flowe... ):
11 x 11 cm (if you used 21 x 21 cm)
(Take your inner box's measurement and times x by 2.8)

*Just to remind people - this is an intermediate box, not an easy one* - don't expect it to be perfect the first time.
You will need to fold it 1-2 times as practise. Pause the video and don't use precious origami paper until you have understood the method. 🙂

That was way more complicated than I expected. Love the final result!
Difficult to fold and see which flaps went over which toward the end. I had the creases where they should be and the general idea of the frame was there, but it wouldn't stay together. Gave thumbs up as it is most likely due to my skill level.
I love this❣️ The planter box could possibly double as a cute trinket box with a separate lid that inserts into the recessed opening.

I didn't have the right paper, I took it
packaging from tobacco, but it is only 14cm.
But nothing, the main thing, everything worked out.

Sorry about the jump, sometimes my camera cuts out. It is explained to open the paper back out at that point, to further re-inforce the creases.
