Sure Will and his wife Charlotte were estranged at the moment because she cheated on him with Stewart, but he would not go as far as killing his own spouse as payback for it. That's probably why he was shocked to hear of her death, Will knew of his Wolf transformations, but not of his actions against others while in that state. The way I see it, Stewart did it in an attempt to frame Will and steal his job from him.
She knows how to handle police, she even states she has a past with cops and the criminal underworld, being a rich, corrupt man’s daughter. And learned how to lock locks apparently

It was to get revenge against Will. Plus he wanted to take Will's job. When Will initially bit Stewart, I knew Stewart was going to turn into a werewolf and that he'd end up trying to frame Will. Stewart was evil from the start.
Jack Nicholson is adorable in this film. What an icon of a man he always portrays. Him and James Stuart, two Human images that everyone can identify with and strive to be. Women actresses of the same magic effect would be Ingrid Bergman and Marlene Dietrich, to name a few.

No it was Stewart he did it to get back a t will for firing him for having an affair with his wife and he did so doing it using the powers will accidentally gave him and thought no one would suspect the lover of being behind it and he lied about will threating to kill him with the cops being unaware that will was a werewolf and not a madman and that he turned Stewart into a werewolf.
Richard Jenkins, great actor, this movie is filled with great actors, and its a fucking great movie.
