I came to SG 14.5 yrs ago. PR for about 13 yrs before turning citizen last yr. If u renew your PR re-entry permit without a job and still staying in MY, most likely the govt will give u 1 yr instead of 5 yrs ya. And must remember to renew online before it expires!
To me, life is short and unpredictable, just enjoy the moment, of course, you still have to plan your future.

Thank you for yr video... it prompted me to really think and reevaluate my life after 18+ years here in the USA, as an born and raised local Singaporean... My story is strangely unique, compared to even most interesting experiences of most immigrants.... Growing up in Singapore really sheltered me from a lot of real life experiences needed to properly make good decisions... so much so i actually decided to stay in the US after just being here for 3 months in 2004... not knowing i had it best in my own home country where the government actually care and work for the people, instead for big corporations who had all the politicians in their pockets ... where there is real racial, religious & social harmony and everyone is safe from bigotry, xenophobia & prejudice.... and most of all, where there is real human warmth in most of the people back home in Singapore, instead of the cold inhumane macro environment here in US where everyone is basically so selfish & inconsiderate(especially these couple of years after the pandemic) they couldn't care less about your life or death coz they themselves are also living in a constant state of panic(always have to be conscious of their surroundings front and back coz you never know if there's just a lunatic around the corner that can just simply shoot, stab, hit or push you onto an incoming train in the subway).... plus Americans are by themselves taught to be individualist growing up...coupled with their extreme lack of worldview and proper cultural upbringing, it's no wonder at least 70% of them turned out to be ignorant, arrogant selfish pricks... what i'm trying to say is i really learned to appreciate all the wonderful amazing attributes of my own motherland after all these years... things that most Singaporeans have taken for granted, but should actually be so super grateful they actually get to be born and grow up in such a peaceful, wealthy, safe and educated environment.... that said, i'm really done with the United States even after all these years... the more i know about it, the more disappointed i am in it.... even though all the skills, knowledge and experiences that i've accumulated all these years is more for here and might not be recognized as useful when i do go back home in Singapore...meaning ill have to more or less start from scratch...ill still have no qualms in wanting to go back home soon...after almost 2 decades.....

By the way, I was very glad to see someone who has gotten a JLPT Proficiency Certificate like myself achieving the same Level 4 ! I believe you would also agree this was an important milestone for us to embark on our career with Japanese Companies with this Proficiency Certification. You are really wise to have planned for your retirement at such a young age and has worked hard to earn what you have today, keep up it up Zack !

我也是kulai人，在SG读书，工作，生活了23年，只要一有假期或休息日，我就会回来kulai和家人相聚，因为距离很短，对我而言，因我长期穿梭在两地，日子久了，我已经没有把SG当成国外了，随时都可以回家只需要一个小时多，除了疫情的日子。我觉得物质与精神平衡，因人而异，每个人都有各自想要的生活，最重要的是适合自己和过得舒服。上天给每个人80年，怎样利用和安排，都是自己的选择，大家一起加油💪 创造出自己想要的生活与未来。
我认同哦，就像我会选择去新加坡而不是吉隆坡，因为新加坡距离我们太近了🙂一起加油🌹

有时候有选择，反而犹豫不决，不能往前冲。
我们也是去新加坡打拼近10年，一到新加坡，完全没想过回头路，就是一路拼劲从打工直到创立自己商业版图，立足于新加坡，也拥有新加坡房屋与新加坡豪车，过得生活品质与大马不差，也有些投资，在疫情前时不时就会出多国短住近月，享受半退休生活。
再回看自己身边友人这十年后还在当心各自的中年职场升职加薪或栽员危机，自己算是蛮幸运，苦尽甘来。
其实这是个人看法，选择不应该只看当下，而是得看长远，自己将来想过怎么样的退休生活？自己将来的命运是想掌握在他人的手中，还是在自己的手中？

谢谢你分享的视频！这让我回忆起当初在6年前，决定离开舒适圈，从马来西亚来到新加坡工作。我在这6年的时光里，我最大收益是社会经验和收入。我很认同你的想法，其实我在这6年里，也换了不少的工作，因为我是拿着准证的，说老实话，因受到quota的限制，工作选择也并不是非常多，当我做了一段时间后，我受到不公平的待遇（因为我只是个马劳)，或者已经确定这份工作已没有了发展的空间了，我就会选择离开, 不想再浪费时间。在新加坡，有遇到欺善怕恶的，虚伪的 ，当然也有一些好人好事。无论如何，我在这6年的时光，不是白过的，我的确成长了很多也见识了许多。在收入方面，我在新加坡赚的将近是我在马来西亚赚的3倍，这也让我离我的目标更加靠近。但家始终是家，马来西亚再怎么糟糕都好，我最后的落脚处，还是自己的家乡，马来西亚。希望你能够继续和我们分享更多不错的视频!

Thanks for the video. I went to SG to work right after college in 2011, similar timing as you, but I did not apply for PR until 2016 because I wasn't sure I wanted to stay in SG for long. I agree with all your points, especially the "ability to choose" part. Having a PR allow me to go back and forth between M'sia and SG anytime or work any job anytime without having to worry about the permits. I have type A personality so working and blending well in SG have never been a problem for me. Last year I left SG for UK, and honestly, I still miss SG a lot. But I think I'm going to have to lose my PR soon now that I don't live and pay taxes over there :(

真的谢谢Zack分享。我也在新加坡工作快9年了，也换了4间公司，一直在试试不同的领域学习。我也很赞同你的说法，在新加坡工作真的比较能存到钱，不是说在大马不能，只是多或少。之前给自己一个十年的时间然后想回去大马发展，但是现在起真的好像有点很难了。

我以前也是对自己说给自己十年时间在新加坡打拼然后回到柔佛，打拼了八九年，碰上疫情我选择了离开新加坡回到柔佛，可是现在又开始萌起回到新加坡继续打拼的念头。真的很挣扎很难
我也在新加坡公司做了10年，不过幸运的是，10年里我换了超过6个岗位，学了很多。你也加油，要为自己的决定努力!

You have a very good plan of using compounding interest in EPF and CPF. This is a sure win plan. I guess you will be financial free by mid-forty since you already started this plan in your mid-twenty.

大哥，我和你一样也是2012年毕业后到新加坡打拼，拿到PR后继续在新加坡打拼，在新山买了房子继续在新加坡打拼一知道结了婚有了孩子碰上疫情，也是和你同一个时间选择了辞去新加坡的工作回到柔佛。如果没记错我们连隔离的酒店都是同一家呢！哈哈，我也是在新加坡认识了我的太太和结交了不同国家的朋友。现在我也回到柔佛生活了半年以上，也是因为有PR的身份，所以有了选择权，也因为有了选择权所以我会更加的挣扎和困惑究竟是一家大小回到新加坡还是继续在柔佛。我也是没法100%肯定自己either会在柔佛或者新加坡生活下去。这就是有了pr的柔佛人的困惑吧？有机会的话，想和你私聊和请教你更多。

个人想法，在新加坡工作跟在马来西亚工作我觉得有差别。在Sg生活压力跟节奏都比较快，也不是每个人适合在新加坡工作的，有时候还是觉得我们很厉害😂所以很多人总说我们赚新币，但是我们经历过的，他们不会明白
因为环境所逼，所以我们英文也被逼学😂

很感觸,畢竟也在新加坡工作了16年,尤其你說2.4的兌換率 , 我記得我剛到,當時的兌換率才2.1多.
我想這些經歷,每個人得到的感受/東西都不一樣,
我也在這些年因工作, 認時很多同事,因而變成很好的朋友,
他們都是我離鄉背井最好的收穫.
如今也因為疫情回到馬來西亞, 把這些年和家人失去的時間補回.
有時還真感謝這疫情讓我們重心思考
