It’s good to see there are still other people that take stuff others would junk and fix it. Good stuff buddy.

You probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)

This was fun... I kindly would like to mention, the three point hitch, the upper link, there is a spring loaded unit you can buy that still allows for a "ON-CENTER" to "ON-CENTER" or eye to eye centers control link, but has a push & pull set of springs, to control the length of the upper link, but, if the far back point of the mower deck was to ever bottom out, the upper link is spring loaded, and simply just absorbs and allows the deck to hinge on the lower links pivot points... The spring loaded upper link is really for rough terrain or non level mowing.... It is unknown to me, if the lawn at the new home is pretty level or not, looks like it is, but if it is not, the spring loaded upper three point link is a life saver in more ways then one, at least on mine... the prevention of the mower deck being hung up ad taking on the whole load of the tractor, and in one case, loss of traction as the drive wheels were just dangling in the air, and of course, just raise up the three point hitch, to lower the traction wheels.. but the deck takes one heck of a hit when doing that, let along the dolly wheels... also, as I am very sure, you already know, the lifting capacity of the three point hitch is limited.. If I remember correctly, (been a while since I owned a Kubota unit), the lift arms have shear taper pins on the control shafts, which is to prevent having to tear into the transaxle gearbox, still a pain in the booty to have to dig the shear pins out... Some were squared key stock, If those ever shear, (as they are designed to do), I would recommend that you source factory replacements for the brand & model of tractor you have, which get into the metallurgy of things, like the alloy of the key stock, the temper, etc, the length and size of the square are just as important, again, by design, those points are so they break loose, and not any of the internal geartrain.. just for those who may not know... The parts internally for a three point hitch system, are never cheap... Another thing, there is a sprag one way coupling unit bearing that can be acquired for the PTO for the drive shaft, that mounts to the output shaft on the tractors gearbox. Those "one way bearings" allow the power to go outwards to the implement, or mower deck, but ,if the tractor shuts down, and the PTO is still engaged, the rotational mass/force, of the spinning blades, will still want to keep rotating, and that will act backwards on the tractor, and the tractor will keep rolling in the direction the transmission is in, I.E. forwards rolling... This tractor, may already have one?, but if not, that is another life saver and takes allot of stress of the tractor as well. The gear train on the tractor is strong while transmitting the power outwards, but is not as strong when the power is being sent inwards through the PTO... Most of these sprag one way bearing couplings units also have built in clutches, not much different then what one would find in a cordless drill's adjustable torque ratcheting setting.. just a few round steal balls, trapped in between two plates that have detents and these plates are under sprung tension, and most are adjustable too. there is the older friction disks, like what is found in the LSD rear axles, but, those can get very hot, and the older they get, the more worn they get, the hotter they get, so much so, they can burn the paint off them.. don't be worried of using one, just saying, if you have a choice of hunting one down, shoot for the detented ball version,, they can be noisy, but then that always tells me to raise the deck a wee bit, to let off the loaded action .. there is my novel for the week.. fun video.. Please note, none of this is meant to insult anybody or you Rusty, rather, was just in the mood to type, and your topic of the week, sounded fun ,and left me inspired to give a wee bit of info, based on some of my attempts to act like I knew what I was doing, only to realize was making things harder on myself..lol... so, for what it is worth.. I miss my Kubota units... and the other brands that are of the same format, just great units... costly to buy parts for, but, most folks, do not break them, like my dumb ass had done too many times, lol.. Oh, I just remembered, I seen that there is a sprag type coupling out there, that is a hydraulic type coupling, all is self contained, I do not know much about them, never owned one, and I suppose, it may be something like a torque converter, maybe?.. I will look into those when and if, my units wear out, just to try one of those... Okay , now I am finished... sorry for the novel... Dru

Thanks for reminding me, I need to pull the mower deck 42" cut from under the garden tractor and give it a going over. I know it needs blades but what else i'm not sure till I get in there. Put the new trailer hitch wire harness in the jeep today and all functions are now normal. The old one everything worked fine till you turned the headlights on then the trailer lights went haywire. So how long does it take you to do all the mowing? Takes me 4 hours for the front yard and another 2 for the back, I have lots of trees to mow around and of course the wife's flowers, I catch hell if I mow down a flower. Peace

Looks like you may have put the outer pulleys on 19:10 different from the way they came off 7:19. I'm curious if that caused any trouble. Thanks for the video.

Hey man you did a good job on that old Sitrex mower. How do you like it? Is it holding up?
I love that little Yanmar YM2000 also. I had one years ago. And a YM2500. Good little tractors!

I like the mower it has held up pretty good the only thing that I dont like with it is the spindles I have had two strip the treads and the blades get loose and it ruined before you realize it happens

Where can I get parts for Sitrex SM230 in the US? I need bearings for a belt tightener and belts.

  • @svtmotorman

Are the blades splined or keyed to spindles ?
