  • The Boeing B-17 takes centre stage in the AppleTV+ television series "Masters of the Air. The aircraft in the show are mostly CGI but this video features incredible footage and sounds of three B-17 aircraft that have flown at Duxford Airfield over the last few years. The video features minimal commentary, close-up filming and on-board footage. Please like the video if you enjoy it and subscribe to the channel for our latest video content.

Great footage as always and nice to see these three together. The interior tour of 'Liberty Belle' when it was at Duxford, was the best £3 that I've ever spent (yes, only £3!). So sad that it was destroyed by fire a few years later and when 'Pink Lady' was 'retired' from flying. In the past few months they have been breathing life back into 'Pink Lady', getting all of the engines running. Let's hope that one day soon she will again get air under her wings. Meanwhile our very own 'Sally B' carries the B-17 flag as a flying memorial to the brave heroes of the United States Army Air Forces - 8th & 9th, in Europe during WW2.

I fell in love with this plane when I was a kid from watching 12 O' Clock High tv series...

I only found out recently that the ball turret was jettisonable in emergencies , particularly if landing with non-working undercarriage . The bottom of the main landing gear was deliberately exposed to lesson the chances of structural damage . The ball turret could be jettisoned for the same reason, to prevent structural damage .

Pink Lady is the only "airworthy" wartime B-17 right? Shame it no longer flies. Also was Sally B not grounded last year?

Why should that be a problem? People are likley to search on yt for real footage of these planes. The series only has cgi.
