but why do manufacturers continue to do away with buttons/knobs and hide them in the infotainment system, every reviewer I have seen dislikes the change
So they can later update tech over the air and probably charge a subscription fee for them. Physical buttons would warrant assembly process changes and hardware to do the same.
I guess I’d never thought of the wider reason, when I drove one on hire it was very distracting I felt, I’ll stick to knobs and buttons next time if I still can !
@@roshangomez I also think it’s a little bit of “Tesla syndrome”. When Tesla first did it, every review said “wow, that’s so futuristic” so everyone followed suit. Now the novelty has worn off, everyone’s realising the flaws in the system
yeh, imo the grile and lights are fine but they seem to have ran out of creative juices for the rest of it, the previous m2 was perfection and a hard act to follow but it's like they didn't even try,
Good review! Kudos on getting a to review this car NOT in Thundernight Metallic like in every other review. I hope you can review the M240i soon with the new iDrive 8, there doesn't seem to be a review of that interior yet from just about ANY youtube channel.
Thanks for the kind comments, Jhonny. All of the early cars (and those available for review) have the older iDrive system. You can check out what we think of iDrive 8 by watching our review of the BMW i4.
mechanicals might be better and more tech but it's not a looker, imo the previous m2 was perfect, my biggest nit pick with the looks is the side vents on the front bumper, it's like the artist had an interuption / emergency and their arm got knocked and then a cat hit send.

It's cheaper to produce. No other reason.

@@corkeymonster ya that too, especially in the long run

Definitely a drivers car. (For these modern times).
Also a big + for having physical buttons.
Good review overall !
Multumeste-te cu Ford Fiesta ca se potriveste cu camasa Lacoste
BMW just slapped on a £700 price increase on this model in last few weeks. Not as bad as other manufacturers but worth noting.
Why are modern Germans cars so ugly especially bmw😢
You didn't mention that the M240i is xDrive
Where’s the Carbuyer big water bottle test?
Not all that environmentally friendly these days! Maybe we should try the reusable coffee cup test instead?!
@@carbuyer Decent environmental banter but you can also use bananas as a homage to the past.😂
You could use a large reusable bottle
The front has a look of a GT84

The comparison to the diesel A Class makes absolutely no sense
The back with those lights is as unsuccessful as the E90 - miss the convertible
Really don’t like the carry over dash from BMW/ Merc vehicles these days.
I miss the different styling you used to find.

I'm a simple person. Cayman or EV for efficiency serenity and mostly instant torque.
the older idrive is better!!!!
Damn,it's so ugly I wouldn't take it even if it was free
This is the ugliest BMW ever built.
This presenter is so boring and non engaging! 🤨
Sorry you think that, J M. Fancy a go?
Disagree. Unless you're comparing to some high energy clown
What a ridiculous but predictable comment. There is alway one idiot that feels the need to review the reviewer. 🙄
People expect over the top silliness just to catch their attention.
I prefer the girl
This video is boring without Nicola.
Is this car came with 1.5?
