In my school i am head of a *minecraft club* at lunchtimes and there are no staff so we can do anything on the localhost server..,
That is a REALLY Lucky school! xD

My, my, my, what a fantastic school. They are really learning how to keep children engaged with games such as minecraft where they learn to expand their imagination, creativity and critical thinking. If anyone agrees with me comment down below.

Lol my teacher plays minecraft, if we have spare time she lets us play minecraft oh and if one if the students in my class have servers we can play on that or we just play via LAN servers we mostly play on my server
We have iPads at my school but we only use them for small quizzes and whatever...
Too bad we can't use Minecraft in architecture/CAD classes, it pretty much is a CAD program anyway. Like this comment if that made sense

At my high school for my video game programming class they had us make our own mods using java and what not. Nothing like invisible flying creepers

Wow!! 3 million views!?! I had no idea when I posted this it would go this far. So, here are some updates... The program is still going strong in the district where it started. The club has spread to several schools and we're now running a 24/7 server for students and teachers. I've moved to another district and have started the program, here, too. We now have Minecraft available to all of our elementary and middle schools, and are, once again, running a 24/7 server for students to create a build! Thank you UA-cam Minecrafters! You're awesome.
The server ip, or is it top secret? I would love to volunteer and build around the server!

Why can't all schools do that, I wud go to after school clubs of this and stay after lessons which is more fun than standing outside in the cold

When I first saw this, I was completely jealous. Until I realized that my school was setting this up as well. They use this program called MinecraftEdu, which is basically minecraft, but with added features and teacher friendly menus. We used MinecraftEdu once for a math project. It was a lot of fun.

Nice I'm going to High school next year and my brother told me you can make your own club. I'm going to start a video game (minecraft) club and teach the people who doesn't know how to play and also going to have tournament :-D

Those were the days... when Minecraft could actually run good FPS on Windows XP. (Or atleast run at all.)
thats not fair i don't get to play minecraft on my computer at school because my school computer says we need username and password so but your so so so lucky you can you minecraft on your computer at school.

I support this MC can be VERY highly education in the though of block measurements, High dimensions and the most obvious the PURE creativity of it so I play on fellow craftaions!
Everything on my computers at school is BLOCKED BLOCKED BLOCKED AND BLOCKED! Aaaaaaaarrrrghghghghgh. Oh well it's not like my school doesn't do fun computer lessons, we where programming our own versions of flappy bird and Plants verses Zombies and when we where done we could play on it for the rest of the lesson :D.

I can see minecraft has a educational point of view but I wish roblox would be used at more schools cause of the advanced scripting and involves more advanced building
that applies with colobot and ceebot which is a game were you type down commands similar to C++ and java

this is the future of education. some games are really educational like 22fortifier said, portal, for example. people may hold the concept back, traditionalists mainly complaining about how this "isnt proper work", but if it teaches kids something, its good, right? thumbs up if you agree.
I hate my school, they have the same computer, but they can't play minecraft, and our county block anything related to games.
It would be like a dream come true for any MC player, easy A+.
Great ideas! We're actually using Towny and Essentials Economy on our survival server now. Great way to teach supply/demand and management/planning.

Pretty sure it's not about building realistically, it's about working together, or in a group of people. As well as creativity and stuff. Besides, they're kids. lol. If they wanna build a dirt house, let 'em.
We use Bukkit on both of our servers currently, though we did use Tekkit for a few months.

Hmm, so I am supposed to set up something like this for my class, because my teacher wants to do an assignment in minecraft, and I'm the smartest about minecraft in my class so I get to set everything up, like a server.

Last year my tech (or also known as keyboarding) teacher would let us play any games on the computers if we finished a typing lesson, and someone found out that you can download an unblocked version of Minecraft, and so everyone used it and so there was like a few land worlds full of people, sadly this year I have a different tech teacher that doesn't even let us use MS Paint, I'm hearing about how people are having fun playing Minecraft or even Agar.io together and I'm just like *tear drops down cheek*, and if there is a substitute that lets us play anything everyone's like "HOLLIYUYA!"

I think this is a very great idea to create creativity in many people. Minecraft just so happens to be one of the popular ones.
