I think I was spoilt my first cruise was UTOPIA brand new this year , being so big you could go to quiet areas , noisy areas whatever you felt like . Absolutely loved it and I had avoided it for years.
Our first cruise this year was with MSC we did 3 back to back cruises, the first 2 were mini“booze” Cruises (never again) way to busy, the last bit was Norway, less people, we did have a great time, booked midship, so not much movement, beds were hard, food cold, struggled to get seat at buffet. But then we booked another cruise, midship again, with P and O, much smaller ship, beds so comfortable, food fantastic, service fantastic, went through the bay of biscay, no problem, I find the gentle rocking of the boat puts me off to sleep.
That sums it up perfectly …..Pontins!! Hi De Hi 😂. I think I commented on the last vlog we call the short ones Booze Cruises but a good idea to see if you like a cruise and have “sea legs”. I burst out laughing when you said a wig fell off during the show. Bless them, they were doing their best 😄. Well done for day 2.
The bigger newer ships you can feel movement less, and also depends where you room is, middle of the ship (both height and width) you’ll also notice any movement less. Of course also depends where you go on your trip and weather as well
I loved the tour of the Windjammer, the choice of food is always good in there and it’s nice to mix and match. Royal Caribbean don’t really have restrictions on Formal Nights these days thankfully. And I think you’re learning as you go which is great. Your cabin steward can provide you with a mattress topper and yes, the larger and newer ships have less movement than those from the 90’s!
@ That’s exactly it, my advice is to always ask as the cruise line wants to make you happy. It’s like the old service that was more common in the US years ago.
Just watched this - i love your honest no frills reviews! I like the comparisons with Pontins (ive only been to one - i think it was called Middleton Towers up near morecombe. Anyway - i digress - thanks for sharing ans keep an eye out for thoae icebergs!
I certainly think that by choosing a 4 day ‘party’ cruise on the oldest RCC ship you obviously ensured that you were not going to get a rose tinted view of cruising. There is probably only carnival that would be more ‘Pontins’ and ‘Butlins’ at sea. Generally the bigger the ship the less it moves around. Longer cruises tend to bring out a quieter subset of society and there are a range of lines across a whole range of quality and price points. If you are more interesting in relaxing and eating than slides, surfing and climbing walls you might check out some of the others.
We wanted a short cruise to start with because we weee not sure how either of us would be. Not sure it was really a party boat as it was an older crowd and not very full. You have to start somewhere to get a feel for what you like and dislike , you and really get that without trying one
@ Understand completely especially given Max’s concerns. It may be a bit different in the Caribbean to Europe. Here the shorter cruises tend to be frequented by a lot of Stag and Hen parties. Enjoying the vlogs.
Princess beds are the best they have invested a lot of money in theirs and cunard are good as well. the last two summers our med cruises we have had to miss Sardinia because it was so rough in August and we had to spend the day in the cabin just laying on the bed as it was to rough to be walking around. We could not even face eating till the afternoons when it calmed down, we had never needed sea sick pills till the last two summers so I sympathise with Maxine especially on her first cruise.
We think you'd really enjoy the Disney cruises... the shows are fabulous, Broadway/ West end standard plus the food is superb! We found the bed supremely comfortable too... not sure it's the best experience for your 1st cruise. Maxine going "cold turkey" is not a bad idea as that way at least you know how you're really feeling... hope it hasn't put you both off... all the best Neil and Ant 😊
Love the vlog. We came from England in August and did 7 nights on Icon of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) and 14 nights at Disney, was absolutely amazing. It was a brand new ship though and it was phenomenal but we did feel it move a few times despite it being the biggest ship to date!
the belly flop competition seemed popular round by the pool . I hope your surviving ok 👌🏻 it’s an experience. Do you remember “ the nobbly knees contest takes place around by the Olympic size pool at 4 pm “ they do not make shows like that anymore hi-de-hi. Take care Bazza ,wishing you better mrs Bazza . Regards Philip essex
The ships have stabilisers. Our captain used to announce they were putting them out to help when it got rough. That’s happened on numerous cruises. Also, on P&O, my aunt got sea sick and they gave her an anti sickness injection for about £12😂👍
Don't let this experience put you off cruising but you have to think the ship uou are on is an old ship so the beds are likely to be old give Norwegian cruise line a go fantastic
We did a Mediterranean cruise from Malta ,once in a lifetime, anyone who says you don't feel the motion needs to be in politics, it's an experience, but prefer dry land, enjoy..
On our only cruise, we did not go very formal on formal night. I just wore a pair of black jeans and a nice top. We didn’t see people real fancy. I’m like you, I don’t do formal!
You look 👀 incredibly shifty sitting in the Windjamma restaurant at lunch trying to do your vlog 🤣🤣🤣, all joking aside this is very informative me & my good lady have toyed with the idea of a cruse 🚢 enjoying the vlogs 👍
You're allowed to bring 1 bottle (750ml) of wine or Champagne per person with you. You can also bring water and pop, but you have to follow the guidelines. there are sizes and quantity rules.
If you watch Sister Act the Musical….the disappointing thing is the songs because they are not allowed to do the ones from the film….which I think is the main thing in Sister Act 🤷🏽♀️ it was a big let down because of this even though it was very good, could have been AMAZING❤
I can confirm the beds on harmony of the seas are awful. You just confirmed I won’t go on a Royal cruise again because I’ve wondered if they are the same on other ships lol .
Coming over to Orlando in April next year down then to Miami, then transatlantic back to Southampton on independence of the seas it was one of the biggest ships ,but now mediocre one now ,this will the 4th transatlantic we have done, cruising doesn’t suite everyone,it’s bit like marmite love it or hate it.
@ we like the fact can bring back heavy cases back after shopping at sawgrass mills in fort lauderdale, downside is if weather bad the 2,000 passengers that reserve there sun bed at 0.600 am are down below deck,s, get the evesway coach back to Blackpool which very good service.
You shouldn't pick the smallest, oldest ship in the fleet, and get a room in the front of the ship when you to try out your sea legs. You should have picked a newer , larger ship with stabilizers and in the middle of the ship lower to the bottom. You get the experience you pay for. Still hope you had fun though.
I think the newer RC ships have better beds. We recommend Viking Ships that are much smaller and a great bar. We have gone on more expensive cruises with Regent and Silverseas but now fully retired we might stick with Viking or Celebrity. The older the ship the less stable they are.
We love Celebrity cruises. The beds are amazing!
That's good to know
❤❤❤❤
I love all the ship activities.
Doing line dancing at sea can be fun and challenging.
I bet when it's rock and rolling
I don’t know if I would go back again….but what an experience you have had 😂😂 Hopefully Maxine feels good to try another cruise 🚢
Oh it was certainly an experience that got even more fun as you will see in tomorrows vlogs
Another great video! As a side note, if you ever venture down to Delray Beach, try out the Blue Anchor British Pub! Cheers!
Good to know thanks
Someone is going to be inundated with jars of Indian chutney during next years Bazza and Maxine meet ups 😂😂😂
You do a great job with your videos…good work……👍
Thank you!
The best bed ever was on the Disney Wish, it was so comfy and the quality of the bedding was amazing too
That sounds wonderful
I think I was spoilt my first cruise was UTOPIA brand new this year , being so big you could go to quiet areas , noisy areas whatever you felt like . Absolutely loved it and I had avoided it for years.
That’s great
Thank you both x
Our pleasure!
Glad you both made it through another day. Hope the duvet helped.
Yes it did thanks
We are leaving tomorrow on diamond princess for a 9 day cruise to Tasmania Australia. Can’t wait to relax.
Have a great time
Another great vlog guys, intrigued to see what happens next 🤔
Us too!
The boss has found her sea legs! It’s a nice way to get into cruising although bigger and better ( and more expensive) ships.
Onwards and upwards
Another great vlog! Not sure I could do a cruise. 😬 Looking forward to next instalment. 🇬🇧x
More to come as we learn the ins and outs of cruising
Our first cruise this year was with MSC we did 3 back to back cruises, the first 2 were mini“booze” Cruises (never again) way to busy, the last bit was Norway, less people, we did have a great time, booked midship, so not much movement, beds were hard, food cold, struggled to get seat at buffet. It’s amazing how different each ship is . I guess you find your favorite cruise line and size of ship and stick with it
That sums it up perfectly …..Pontins!! Hi De Hi 😂. I think I commented on the last vlog we call the short ones Booze Cruises but a good idea to see if you like a cruise and have “sea legs”. I burst out laughing when you said a wig fell off during the show. Bless them, they were doing their best 😄. Well done for day 2.
It was quite an interesting show for sure
The bigger newer ships you can feel movement less, and also depends where you room is, middle of the ship (both height and width) you’ll also notice any movement less. Of course also depends where you go on your trip and weather as well
I am told it depends on the direction of the waves as well
Love your vlogs Bazza from Ireland 🇮🇪. So glad you did a royal cruise. You have to have to do an oasis class ship you’ll be blown away.
Maybe one day!
You don’t know what you don’t know on a first cruise. We found out about the toppers once we got home lol.
I will lol

Princess have amazing beds, picking the right cruise line and ship are so important when cruising. Next time ask Ben and David to select one for you.
Yes after we got back we saw others had complained about the beds , but you could also get or bring mattress toppers with you
We went on Harmony of the Seas a few years ago and the beds were very comfortable. Plus on the bigger ships you can barely feel it move.
Nice, we certainly started to feel this move as you will see in the next vlog
We have been on three of the biggest RCCL ships and have never had hard mattresses.
Princess beds are the best they have invested a lot of money in theirs and cunard are good as well. the last two summers our med cruises we have had to miss Sardinia because it was so rough in August and we had to spend the day in the cabin just laying on the bed as it was to rough to be walking around. Everyone said, you won’t feel it move….they lied :-)

They were a bit outside our budget

Which ship did you prefer ?
@ThemeParkBazza that was our first cruise! Would love to go back on it or try Star of the seas, the newer one for 2025
@ThemeParkBazza sorry it wasn't a disney cruise we did we stayed at Caribbean beach at disney ☺️
the belly flop competition seemed popular round by the pool . I hope your surviving ok 👌🏻 it’s an experience. Do you remember “ the nobbly knees contest takes place around by the Olympic size pool at 4 pm “ they do not make shows like that anymore hi-de-hi.

Oh yes we do
On NCL you can request an egg create mattress topper. No extra charge.
That is a good tip thanks
Try princess cruises , their beds are like clouds they are amazing .
Good to know
The ships have stabilisers. Our captain used to announce they were putting them out to help when it got rough. That’s happened on numerous cruises. Also, on P&O, my aunt got sea sick and they gave her an anti sickness injection for about £12😂👍
I,am sure they have, the smaller ships do tend to get a bit more bouncy
@@ThemeParkBazzathey do! 😂 we’ve been on bigger ships and smaller ones. A few bad nights for sure. Especially crossing the Bay of Biscay😂
Don't let this experience put you off cruising but you have to think the ship uou are on is an old ship so the beds are likely to be old give Norwegian cruise line a go fantastic

The morion was certainly starting to build up as you will see in the next vlog
Isn’t that the holiday camp somewhere in the uk that your cruise ship is going to Barry
Lol
@@ThemeParkBazzagonna say because you’ve been on the ship for a while now
On our only cruise, we did not go very formal on formal night. I just wore a pair of black jeans and a nice top. We didn’t see people real fancy. I’m like you, I don’t do formal!
Yeah, we were a bit scared of what “formal” was. They were an older crowd on the ship so we saw plenty of ballroom gowns and tuxedo’s around the ship
You look 👀 incredibly shifty sitting in the Windjamma restaurant at lunch trying to do your vlog 🤣🤣🤣, all joking aside this is very informative me & my good lady have toyed with the idea of a cruse 🚢 enjoying the vlogs 👍
I m incredibly shifty
@@ThemeParkBazza 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, as we decided to pay for the full drinks package we decided not to worry about bringing our own
If you watch Sister Act the Musical….the disappointing thing is the songs because they are not allowed to do the ones from the film….which I think is the main thing in Sister Act 🤷🏽♀️ it was a big let down because of this even though it was very good, could have been AMAZING❤
It must be some form of copyright thing
I can confirm the beds on harmony of the seas are awful. You just confirmed I won’t go on a Royal cruise again because I’ve wondered if they are the same on other ships lol .
I heard gets the cruise you can ask for bed toppers to help
@ you can but you have to be quick. I asked after 2 hours and they were all gone. lol 😂
Transatlantic is very intriguing to us, what do you love and hate about that type of trip ?

I never thought of that how the weather could impact the cruise experience as far as how crowded it feels
Unfortunately they were not within the budget we set to test a cruise out. No point in blowing a lot of cash to be sick in your cabin for 4 days

Thank you, great information
Looks like the food is very decent (except for the curry (I don’t like curry 🤢🤮))but you fill your boots & enjoy!…👍
We did, but it was a bit bland to be honest
You can ask for a topper. They are very accommodating to the guests.
Yes, I found this out after we got back
When will you release your next video…I am curious to see what happens next…."
Our normal time, every Friday at 12pm EDT / 5pm DST
I don't think cruising is working for either of you. At least not this ship???
Wait until you see what happens next
